Taking off for the long weekend

Ok, so i woke up this morning and decided that i am adding Thursday to my birthday weekend and not coming into work tomorrow. So, you will have to make up your own snack time items...

We don't head out until friday, but i want to take some time tomorrow to pack, get some goodies for the hotel room, pack some more.. clean the house for someone to come and take care of the dogs, and then rest some...

I don't know if it is a universal thing that happens to all people but around my birthday, my energy level gets kind of low. I mean I love my birthday and can't wait to go away, but i am SOOOOO friggen tired.. anyway, i feel like i need to take the day, so i am going to take the day.

Oh the Rockies topic, they pulled out a back to back win the last two days against the Braves.. I think the first few runs were a little emotional and they needed to get their heads out of the clouds and back into this season. I think they felt some pressure to be the "National Champs" and they didn't consentrate of being the 2008 season Rockies. But now they have their rings, they have their fan fair of the first home opener etc.. time to play some ball.. So they have been hitting better, getting some good swings in and hitting it pretty far. There were a few errors by the Braves that we took advantage of and scored. Come May/June time i will be seeing more games personally and will be bringing you some pictures from the field. I know you can't wait.

But in the mean time you will have to watch on your tv.

I am taking te easy route and ending my blogging here...
Have a wonderful "my birthday" weekend... check the set lists each night to see what we are hearing.. See you on Tuesday 4-14.

Three days, not like anybody is counting

so three days to go and only two more of work. I am really looking forward to getting up Friday morning to a Mimosa and a shower. I got the oj on one of my three trips to the grocery store on sunday. The hint was all he needed because my boyfriend called from his car on his way home from a meeting last night and asked if i wanted anything from the liquor store. I said, sure pick up a six pack of Sierra Nevada. Not knowing where he was going, i wanted to stay with something safe that they would carry. A little while later my boyfriend comes home and says "I am sorry but i passed on the Seirra." I was flipping though a magazine and didn't really think much of it, so i looked up and was saying that's ok when i saw that he was holding 2 six packs of Green Flash West Coast IPA>. If you have been reading long enough you will know that aside from Bell's Two Hearted Ale (that i will be drinking this weekend and can't get in Colorado) the green flash is my favorite!!!! We have a hard time finding it around here so i was SHOCKED when he had two sixers.. AWESOME!!! Oh and why i started that story is that he picked up some champaign also. I think my hint of getting OJ showed that i am serious about the mimosas.

Why mimosas you ask.. well it seems to be a great morning drink for one. i mean you get your vitamin c AND a nice gentle bubbly buzz.. It seems to also be a drink for me when i accomplish something that i never thought i would. I had mimosas before my college graduation(ok and in a water bottle during), I had a mimosa the morning after my sister got married. and now, i am going to have one on my 35th birthday..
It just seems appropriate. Like most kids if you asked me when i was 12 if i would ever be this old, i would say that 35 is about as close to the grave as i can imagine and no, i would never get that old. When i was about, oh i don't know, 19 to 27 you would have thought i was TRYING not to make it to 35... and now, WOW!!! I did (barring nothing happens between now and 4:58 Friday afternoon. Is that east coast time, I thnk it is.. so it will be 3:58 in Chicago, right...
I will guess that we will be on the el-train somewhere in the city trying to get to the hotel when i turn exactly 35 years old.. I will give my mom a call and she will remind me that she didn't get dinner that night because she was delivering when they went around to ask for the meal requests. And since i was a C-section, it took a little longer. I will say that i am sorry. She will tell me how much it hurt and that she can't wait for me to have the same pain.. (no she isn't jewish, but i know, you would think.. :) Then i will proceed to hear about everything that i have done in my life, that party i had in high school where all the porch furniture ended up in the lake but I was sure they would float. And the time I drove my brand new Mustang through the christmas tree field at 10Pm and told my folks when the came driving up the drive way and caught me, so I said that i was looking for my watch i dropped. It sounded good to me at the time.
Well more birthday musings to come....

Did you catch the Rockies game, yeah, well i was watching the basketball game too.. But i watched the game up to the 8th inning and saw the Braves earn one run before i turned it over to the basketball game for the last period. Then i heard this morning that we won!! no kidding, about time, right. Well our man Holliday hit a two run home run to bring up one over in the 8th. We went on to win. Not bad for the Division Champs that are currently ranked LAST friggen place.. again.. we are used to being down here. I just hope that we can climb out before it really starts to count. Cant tell the season by the frist 5 games, but really.
They are playing again tonight and then tomorrow. I think it is an afternoon game on Thursday. But the kicker is that we are under a winter storm warning starting tonight and going into Thursday. (Boy am I glad i am not playing softball thursday- it is going to be COLD!).
Well that's all, here are some things that have nothing to do with my birthday or baseball. it's a shame I know...

Today is Counter Stool Memorial Day, a day to see if you can remember the last diner or lunch counter where you spun round-and-round on a stool at the counter. Is there still a place where you can do it again?

Today is Children's Day in Florida (always on the 2nd Tuesday in April).

Today is Tutor Appreciation Day. (Thanks for all your hard work)

Today is National Notice a Wildflower Day. (Not when there is still snow on the ground.. UGH!)

Today is Draw a Picture of a Bird Day. (Here's my bird, of course he's pooping, now draw yours.)

Today is Trading Cards for Grownups Day. (whatever)

Today is National Peanuts Kids Baseball Day. . (Sorry there was one thing about baseball, not my fault it is the best sport ever.)

Today is Hammerin' Hank Day, marking Hank Aaron's 715th home run, breaking Babe Ruth's long-standing record, on this date in 1974. Hank's record of 755 home runs is still standing. (What?!?, it wasn’t planned! I swear)

1974: Hank Aaron of the Atlanta Braves hit his 715th career home run in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, breaking Babe Ruth's record. The homer was off pitcher Al Downing. (Same story, doesn’t count)

1975: History’s oldest canary died in Hull, England. Joey, owned by Mrs. Kay Ross, was 34 years old. ( I made it longer than a canary, there is something to be said for that. I don’t know what, but something)

1986: In a landslide, actor Clint Eastwood was elected mayor of Carmel, California.

1988: The Rev. Jimmy Swaggart was defrocked by the Assemblies of God church after he rejected an order to stop preaching for a year.

1989: "Entertainment Tonight" hostess Mary Hart married producer Burt Sugarman. (and I care because???)

1990: 11-year-old Richard Daff Jr. of Crownsville, Maryland, bowled a perfect game. He is believed to be the youngest bowler ever to score 300.

1992: Britain's top humor magazine Punch published its final issue. It had lasted 151 years.

1994: The grunge rock group Nirvana’s lead singer Kurt Cobain committed suicide in his Seattle home. (tragic loss to music- for real)

1995: Associated Press reported that Virginia prisoner Robert Lee Brock’s lawsuit for $5-million against himself had been dismissed in state court. Brock claimed he had violated his own civil rights by getting himself arrested for grand larceny and asked the state to pay the $5-million because he had no income in prison.

1998: Japan slapped restrictions on the use of flashing lights on television after a "Pocket Monster" cartoon made thousands of kids sick. Some 680 children were rushed to hospitals after being thrown into fits by the cartoon show. Another 10,000 reportedly suffered convulsions and blurred vision.

2001: A Valparaiso, Indiana, couple who met through their mutual love of jogging were married in their running shorts after completing a 5-kilometer race in which they competed against their pastor and best man. During Wanda Johns' and Clarence Melion's wedding, the Rev. Duane Schmidt told the sweaty couple they were starting the "marathon of life." Johns' racing outfit included a white veil attached to a baseball cap, a wrist corsage and a white lace garter.

2006: A White House spokesman said President George W. Bush approved a leak of classified information, as charged in the I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby case, because it served a "public interest" and did not compromise security.

Just another Manic Monday

Well, there is the end. Red Sox swept us hard and bad. I don't want to say that we didn't try. I think we played great baseball and for the team's first visit to the big dance, we did alright. This will just give us the experience we need to win the next time we get there. And with this team, i think we will get there again. Now, we just have to keep our eye on for the trading and re-negotiating before Spring training.
So, my camera was stolen from my backpack at the bar I was watching the game at. I am so bummed. It wasn't a small little cheap thing, it was a Nikon for God Sakes. I can't believe that happened. Just makes me mad and then sad.

Many of you might be wondering if i have given up on the walking thing as i have not posted my pedometer reading in a while. Well it will please you to know that not only have i not given up walking, but i can even run at some points during my exercise. But i am also using the weight machines at the gym. I am starting to feel sore muscles and everything. That is very cool. I have taken the weekends off, but i am back at it this evening. I wish i could convince myself to go in the mornings so i will boost my metabolism all day, but i am still whiny about getting up early just for work, so to get up any earlier is just stupid for me. But at least i am going.

well, that's about it. Sorry Rockies, better luck next year. I am not a fair weather fan, and i will miss all the excitement that the Rockies brought to us this season and look forward to the next season.

We have Monday Night Football in town tonight. Broncos Vs. Packers.

Take me home, country roads

And the Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
You can talk to God and listen to the casual reply
Rocky mountain high

I have to say that was a better game than the first one. Our defense was there and we actually hit the ball a few times. Holiday got on base four out of four at bats, but too bad he got a little too far and got picked off in the 8th. That sucked. He was our only hope at that time to score again and tie it up.
If you are from Boston or a Red Sox fan, then why are you reading this, but seriously, what the f**k is the deal with the Bull-pen noises. How annoying. And what's the deal with singing Neal Diamond? that is just wrong...

Atkins stepped it up at third. Usually those hits go straight to Tulo but they were hitting to Atkins and i bet surprised when they saw he has a cannon for an arm too. They can't beat the throw to first with Helton willing to go into the splits to catch the ball while still keeping his foot firmly on the first base. We can do it, i know we can. The fans this weekend will help the mile high boys catch one victory. And the Red Sox wont be able to breathe, so that will help too...
GO ROCKIES!!!
I am glad the boys are headed back home. The fans are ready. And to be honest, I think with the double loss, the ticket prices are starting to go down. I might just get really lucky and get a ticket for face value, that is my goal, but we will see.

(Pic explanation- The sox might have the green monster but we have Dinger- whoo-hoo... OK, yeah i know he is lame, but the Broncos and Nuggets already have Rocky, who was voted by SI as the best mascot in Pro ball...)

We take a licking and keep on ticking...

Well the boys in purple took an old fashioned beating as Todd Helton so elequantly put it after the game last night. That was painful to watch and really hard to keep hearing the announcers who are clearly from the East Coast and want Boston to win. All of their commentary was directed toward to Bloody Hose. But we will show them what Colorado is all about.
To be honest I am ok with the game last night. There was no way we could keep on winning and I am glad we got Beck(KKKKKKK)et out of the way. Now we can take it to the other pitchers they have coming. Jimenez will be pitching for us tonight and I think he can do a good job. Poor Frances. It must be really hard to only be 26, starting in your first World Series and you know that everything is riding on your shoulders.. Lots of pressure.
I was thinking last night while watching our other pitchers warming up that it has to suck to play that field for them. In our park, the bullpen and warm up area are right next to a nice fountain and some pretty pine trees etc. In Boston they had a cop stading there to keep people out. It is so Urban. I am looking forward to our boys being back home and in their park. That green monster SUCKS!!!
still working on tickets but watch for me on TV at game 3. (hey that rhymes)
My firend that has an awesome seat 10 rows behond home plate said that he would let me sit in his seat for an inning on Saturday if i get in.. I AM GOING TO GET IN!!!!
wish me luck and send good vibes to the ticket scalpers.
Not to mention with this loose, the ticket prices might fall dramatically.
Keep the Faith!!!
GO ROCKIES!!!

The tide is high but I'm holding on....

I am basically holding on to faith that i will get a ticket to at least one game. This morning the Rockies site had some tickets to sell, but i couldn't get my hands on even one... again. I am going to keep checking the website as credit cards are declined and some people get caught trying to buy more than 4 tickets at a time. Keep thinking good thoughts for me.

So, yesterday morning, both my boyfriend and I are getting ready to leave for work. He goes out the front door and about 30 seconds later is back in the front door kinda freaking out looking for the phone. I ask what's up and he tells me that someone tried to steal his car... WHAT??? being the nosey, no quite believing what i hear, i have to see for myself. Sure enough, someone had pulled his driver's window back, pulled the lock open and got in the car. They stripped the steering column out and left the ignition turny thing-y on the seat. We think they got interrupted or something because they didn't actually take the car...
So, this morning we had a police man come to our house and make the report.. Very scary and no one likes the idea that some stranger was right outside our home doing bad things..
icky...
We stationed all the dogs near windows last night to see if they bark at something. they didn't make a sound.
Reports and insurance issues to follow...

Sucky sucky suck suck

Well i got shut out.. I didn't get tickets though the team, so now i am starting to look in other directions..
I have a feeling i will be at home celebrating alone with some pizza and beer... just the way i want to spend my world series..
I know i am being a "sour grapes" but i am really upset. I was really hoping against hope that i would come away with one ticket to one game. But i am guessing that i won't be seeing the boys in purple playing the end of the season out.
This sucks and i am very sad. This will take some time for me to get over.
:(
Go Rockies, still!!!

The new word

Rockies World Series Ticket Onsale

This morning the Rockies' ticketing provider Paciolan experienced a system wide outage that is impacting all of their North American customers. They are working hard to resume service as soon as possible and apologize to their customers and all fans for this impact.

WOW!!! good job guys...
http://www.paciolan.com click the "contact us" link and let'er rip..
seriously???? comm'on...

SUSPENDED?????? are you kidding me...

OK, so WTF????
of course the servers failed...
I wish they would have talked to a music company or a national touring band on how to sell thousands of tickets on line and see how to see them without the servers failing.. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! i have seen more than 18,000 tickets on sale and gone in less than 20 minutes, why can't they sell them the same way though MLB??? and yeah only 18,000 tickets to be had by fans in a baseball stadium that holds roughly 60,000 people. Well they say that over 32,000 tickets are going to season ticket holders, players and sponsors. Boy i wish i knew a player now...:)
So, they have just announced that tickets are not being sold right now. That only a few hundred were able to be sold today and they will let us know when they are going to resume ticket sales.
I wonder how many people waisted their work day hitting refresh like i have :)
GO ROCKIES!!!!
I will update...

ROX and SOX

I will let you know how i do on getting tickets monday morning..
GO ROCKIES!!!

Birtha never ever talked too much, Had those television eyes

Sorry for the doubling up on the Rebirtha lyrics, but i just got an email from friend and apparently we freaks that can't get enough Widespread Panic aren't the only ones.
So last night the Indians and the Red Sox went at it again for the 6th game to see who will play the HOT ROCKIES in the World Series.
There must have been some major Panic fans working the music at the game because this is what went down at the inning breaks...

Surprise Valley - 1st inning break (this song has been a blog title for me "spirit move in all things")

Disco - 3rd inning break (this is an all instrumental otherwise I would have used anything from this wonderful song!!)

Action Man - end of the 5th inning (one of my favorites to see live and we did get in this past weekend " Fire inside, blaze of glory, space in time.... Hearts of gold, limbs of steel, man-of-war"

Surprise Valley - 6th inning game summary (again, they must really like it)

Thin Air – 7th inning break.(very appropriate seeing someone will be coming to the thin air, i guess after tonight's game...")

So keep your ears out, i am sure there will be more panic played tonight..

Well something else special happened today. I woke up a little early and Watson, my dog, wanted out. I let him out the back only to be greeted by falling snow. When i looked out it was only falling but nothing was sticking, but when i got up about 30 minute later to let him back in the grass was all white.

i don't expect it to stick around like last year as we are going to get back into the 70's next week, it is pretty to see and hopfully enough to scare those sox into loosing to the Indians.

Since it is snowing i got the fixins to make a slow cooker chili this afternoon and i also got a few pumpkins to carve while sipping beers and watching baseball.. LOVE THE POST SEASON!!!!

I also have some plans to put up some great pictures i took from my parent's visit a few weeks ago. There are some great pics i snapped that i would like to share. And one more goal for the day is to figure out the video on this thing so i can share some great stuff i have in that department too. Who knows you might be able to watch Panic playing Surprise Valley as i shot that song in Vegas this time last year...

Off form morning rituals :) and then my day can start..

She said, "I know a town where real life's a game

Baseball's all that's real
At night all the faces light up
As the HEROES take the field"

This is my mantra for the next three days until tickets go on sale. I am going to try for one ticket to the second game in Denver, so that would be the fourth game played. Might be the night The Rockies will will the World Series. Right now in this town, Baseball is what is really real. No one is talking about the Broncos that will be playing the Steelers this weekend. No one is even mentioning that the Nuggets start soon (that's our NBA team) and i have not heard word one about the Aves yet...
this is a BASEBALL town..
So, last week they changed the rules for buying tickets. There was, at first, going to be a lottery line that fans could get in and then see if they get a number close to the one called that will start the line. A lot like what they started doing for Phish tickets toward the end. But now they say that everyone has to go online to get the tickets. So, at 10am 50,000 fans will be swarming that site to get their hands on either a very great investment or a chance of a lifetime to see a World Series game played in out back yard.
(hopefully not once in a life time if we can hang on to the line-up over the off season- but you know what I mean).
I am not sure what i am going to do. I had some sudden expenses that have come up that might keep me from being able to afford one ticket. So we will have to see on monday what i can do.
I started to relax the last several days and even was able to sleep a little the last few nights, but that will all be gone sunday night again.
HOW FREAKING EXCITING!!!!
GO ROCKIES!!!

The Waiting is the hardest part..

OK, i know i used that line before, but GEEZ!! waiting for the World Series is taking all my patients. To be honest i don't care who we play. Have you seen what we have done to the last two teams that have worn red in our Stadium??? and one team we swept TWICE!!!!

But my dad would love for the Indians to be in the games. I will watch tonight to see if they are going to clinch it tonight or if we have to continue waiting.
So, they are making the tickets really hard to get by selling them online, only. I am soo afraid that hackers are going to get in and scoop up all the tickets, then the fans are forced to pay upwards of $500 just for the crappy seats, when they are actually on sale for only about $65. That sucks!!!!

Saw some of the guys practicing last night on the news.

Other than that, i am just working and worrying about cash flow, but that is life huh???
More on snack time later, i am still waiting for my lunch!

Start wearing Purple, wearing purple

Time to jump on the bandwagon, why not everyone else is, but the Rockies are on FIRE!!!! did you see that hit my Toryalba last night, are you kidding me. That's our catcher!
So, i will be up at the top of the stadium tonight, but at least i will be there. I was offered a Face-value ticket last week and took it with no hesitation. And tonight will prove to be an exciting one, that is for sure.
Our team still looks strong. We are ready to take it all the way tonight.
So, here is the low down from the great weekend that was. The Great American Beer Fest was all what i expected. We had some wonderful beers like Bell's Two Hearted Ale, Green Flash West Coast IPA and New Galarus. They are all good. We did find new great IPA from Steelhead. It is the Double Play IPA. Great beer!!!!
So the best part of thursday was drinking Bell's beer while watching the Rockies in October.. that was great. Then friday and Saturday we saw WIDESPREAD PANIC. Jimmy Herring is the man, Jojo is getting balder, JB is still FUCKING HOT!! Schools is a house, Suny doesn't ever stop smiling and Todd was, well Tedd.. They set lists were good, but Saturday was a better show overall. And i got a Jack. i love that song. But it was strange leaving a little early Friday to look for some TV sets around the stadium to check the game. I can't believe we won by a walk. Panic is big into baseball too, so the next night they played Walk On in the first set. I know it was for the game winning walk..
Yesterday my boyfriend and I drove up to the mountains to eat some crab legs at one of the casinos. We watched it snow the whole time. so cold.
And the Rockies are one win away from sweeping the Diamondbacks. Last night they played in the cold and rain... and most media outlets are playing off the "And it was Foggy last night" because our pitcher that did a great job starting was Fogg. so heehe, very obvious, but there you go.
SO, i will report tomorrow that we will be going to the world series...
Wear your PURPLE!!!!
GO ROCKIES!!!!!

Spirit moves in all things, the spirit moves in all things

Hey all,
well the weekend is upon us and I am so excited to see the Panic boys back in CO. The only problem is that i know there will be no tv there tonight. Last night was great, because the coors booth had two flat screen tvs that we watched the Rockies win on. that was great. Drinking Bells beer in Denver, while watching the Rockies in October, is great!!!
OK, i am calling it a short day and going home. I need a nap before the festivities begin tonight...
GO ROCKIES!!!!
have a great weekend...

Thursday, October 11, 2007

I know it may sound funny but how dare you show up on time...

OH my Oh my oH my!!!
one hour until i am leaving work and heading home.. Tonight is going to be a crazy one. We want to get to the Great American Beer Fest before the doors so we can get our badges (we don't need to stinkin' badges) and get inside to take some photos of the start of the GABF. Then it is run to New Galarus, and then to Bells and then to the Dog Fish Head booth to get a few 120's. Then to find Green Flash and have a few of them.
My only MAJOR concern about all of this is that the ROCKIES are playing and i don't know that there will be a TV in the convention center to have it playing.. That means that after a few beers it is off to a near by bar, check the score and then back to the GABF for a few more rounds.
I might be a little late coming into work tomorrow, so don't wait up.
GO ROCKIES!!!
snack time was Nutty Butty kind of ice cream cones... I said no thanks. I didn't want to run an additional three miles just to work it off, i will be drinking enough beer to more than make up for that.
GABF=Liquid love, one once at a time...

Put me in Coach, I'm realdy to play!!!!

Sorry if you are not a baseball fan, you are screwed reading my blog for at least another run.
So i got a call from a friend, and you know who you are, that they had a line on 'at-cost" tickets for monday's game.. So, of course the sucker that i am for my Rockies, I just shelled out $70 for upper level seats to the game monday.
OK, here is my reasoning. If you know me then you would know that about this time of year, I would start making plans to see String Cheese where ever they were playing New Years, or even Halloween. Since they are no longer touring, i am not buying tickets, air fair, hotel stays, rental cars, etc. Therefore i have to have some cash that i can spend on the rockies... right???
And I can wear my new shirt to the game and my wild card hat!!! love getting decked out in Rockies gear...
So, This weekend just got longer and extended into next week. They BETTER have a TV at the Grreat American Beer Fest tomorrow night.
On another note. did you all see Mark Cuban dance on Monday.. What do you mean NO?????
well then i wont thank you for helping him stay in the game by voting... But as of last night's results show, he is still dancing.
OK, lunch time and i am starving..
GO ROCKIES!!!!

Doctor, Doctor, give me the news....

OK, so i went back to the doc today. she gave me my report from my blood draw that the lady hurt me on. And i am healthy as a horse, what ever that means. She says that all my levels are Fantastic!!! Sounds great to me. That's what i wanted to hear.
Sounds great to me..
Well, this week, i am anticipating it going very slowly because there is a TON of stuff going on this weekend that i am super excited about. This is in order of activity, not necessarily in order of my excitement level for that particualr event, although all are going to be great!!!
First, Thursday is the Great American Beer Fest. And this is a massive event at the convention center. We are excited because this is the first year we are able to ride the Lite Rail to the event and not have to worry about cabs and driving... perfect! This event is big in the beer world because it is the only fest that awards their awards by blind tastings. Meaning that the judges don't know the brand of beer they are drinking when judging. All beers are judged on how they fit to the exact specifications of that particular type. For example lets say we have three Porters (dark, black heavy beers) and lets say that beers one and two are brewed with a slightly different taste than what a perfect porter is supposed to taste like and the third one is on the money. Maybe beers one and two are a crowd favorite, but they didn't have the specifics, then three will win.. SO, it doesn't matter, except for crowd favorite award. So, some breweries really like it and some don't but it is the truest, non biased tasting there is...
But for us, plain old festival goers,. we can see what we are drinking and pick for ourselves... WEE go on Thursday but the event goes all weekend.
Then Friday and Saturday is WIDESPREAD PANIC BABY!!!!! Can't wait to see the boys again and hear some head bending tunes with Jimmy Herring.. SO EXCITED FOR THIS!!!!
Then starting Sunday, the baseball boys are back in town to hopefully clinch the league series.. we will see. I am thinking i am going to be soo worn out by Sunday i won't be able to get off the sofa, but i would like to think that i would go try to get a ticket downtown. If i don't go on Sunday, i will most likely try for Monday's game.. I will go alone, but i am OK with that...
So, that is the deal, oh snack time, string cheese and mini éclairs. I have been walking at the gym every night and i think i am going to stay away from both. Good habits come from good decisions. right???
