Weekend whereabouts

So, it was a full weekend for us, which as you know, can be unusual these days.
Saturday we tried to get Madonna tickets but had no luck, so we loaded up the car with Zalea and Watson and headed to our friend's place up top. We wanted to go one a hike to check out the rivers running big. So we get to the trail head and quickly realize that Zalea can't really do much.. Her hips were a lot worse off than either of us knew.. She wasn't 100 yards into the hike before she had to start sitting and resting in snow banks and cold river water.. Poor girlie.. so we went a little ways to some small waterfalls and rested there.. needless to say we didn't get much of a walk in. We are going to go back in a few weeks when the flowers are all in bloom, and probably with only Watson.. the young whipper snapper at 9 years old.

So, that was kind of a bust. we ended skipping the baseball game too and just went to see the band saturday night. they were ok, Just over the line from noise, but you can tell they have some potential.. just need to grow and develop as a band some more..
So....Sunday mid-morning, early afternoon we went to an "Art in the Square" but it was actually called something like Arte de la Pizza.. (well it was in Italian, i did the best i could.. and i love pizza) anyway, it was chalk drawings on the street. some were really great and others. not so much.. I will ost some photos I took when i get home from work today. We had a huge lunch and came home for a bit. Than ran some errands and watched some tv...
Oh and then there was one more thing.. and i can't even tell you how excited i was.. Jeff came to me the other day and asked if i would go with him to an event sunday night. I usually know what is coming and the events tend to be ok.. Some better than others. But he said that i would love this one and handed me a flyer.. The first thing i noticed is that i says Ice Cream Social and outdoor movie.. well that sounds like fun, and most of the time means free popcorn too, seeing that i have to stay away from the ice cream.. Then i get to the movie title and about scream it out.. THE GOONIES... That's right.. on a big screen and everything.. So when the time comes last night to go, i got up and ready in no time... we were there for about an hour, jeff got the shots he needs and we are just waiting for the movie. I really don't need to see it, but i wanted to see the first few minutes on a big screen.. So we wait and wait and wait.. then they say that they are afraid it was getting too late and they would just start the movie but you wouldn't be able to see anything on the screen for the FIRST 15 MINUTES... i was so disappointed.. we just left as you could hear the audio and no picture.. :( how sad...

Garden is growing, I mowed the lawn yesterday.. I call it "Lawn Mowed Two Ways" because this time i did one half up and down stripes and the other half cross-ways stripes.. and we have been watching a lot of cooking shows, so lawn mowed two ways seems very appropriate.

So, that's about it.. We will know, hopefully, around thursday, if there is anything to celebrate.. or if we are going to try, try again... so keep praying, keep all fingers and toes crossed and talk with anyone you know in heaven that might have some pull....
Jeff is going out of town the end part of the next "perfect timing" phase, so if we did it right the first time, that would be ideal...
OK.. Have a great monday.. check back this evening for some photos from the weekend.
can't wait to hear about all the pool parties that went down back east this past weekend..
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAROLINE!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICHOLAS!!!!

This past weekend et al...

First of all, let me say Happy Cinco de Mayo. And it is my girl dog's birthday. She is 10. very sad that she is that old. but she is going great and running everyday, so i think she will be kicking for a while longer. Maybe she will get a bone tonight. Have to think about that.
This past weekend was just ok. Friday night we did deliveries of the music magazine we pass out around Denver. We got almost all the way done when we ran out of magazines that were in the car. So we just went home and watched some tv and headed to bed. The next morning my boyfriend suckered me into going to this park where they were supposed to be having a duck race (you know where you buy a rubber duck and they float them down a water source to the end of the course for a winner) well i say they were supposed to be having, because we got there and it ended up not being held on saturday and was scheduled for sunday but my boyfriend got the day wrong. He was covering it for his paper, we were not just going to go. So, that was a bust. We did, however get to two comic book stores because Saturday was Free Comic Book Day. Some comics had actual free books made for that day. We went to one and they had a sign that said "one per customer". There were a few that i wanted, because either the art work or just to have (like Archie and Simpsons). So we went to another store. I took a few just my boyfriend took so long looking around that the owner (typical comic book store owner) started watching us. Very strange.. So he asked what we picked and I had to show him that i had about 6 in my hand. The guy kinda made a face, but i just smiled at him and said thanks when we walked out the door. My boyfriend laughed at me all the way home. WHAT?? there wasn't a sign, i wanted them all. I only took from the larger piles, meaning that people were not picking them up.. so, i took a few more than a couple.. so what.. I am never going back to the store again, (until next Free Comic Book day), so, who cares??

So, sunday i refused to go back to the duck thing, so i stayed home and got some laundry done, watched some baseball (surprise) and cleaned a little. ok, not much, but a little.
It was a weekend that i didn't take a shower all weekend and as a Hippie with a day job, it's nice not to shower every now and again.

On a music note, Nine Inch Nails is doing it again. Trent Reznor said today that since so many people liked the fact of dowloading the last album, that they are giving another way The Slip is the name and they are giving download codes for free.. I know it is happening today, but i don't know for how long. So, get your NIN downloads. I just hope it is better than the last one.. I'm just sayin.

So, here's my new want.. I know it's a little strange, but i want a backyard composter. I want worms and i want to feed them table ad cooking scraps. I really do. I have wanted one for a while, but i saw this show that was showing how you can have one in an apartment. I took a look on line and there are a few that i really like. My boyfriend says we can't have one until we know where we are living in a year etc. so we are not moving a full composter across the country. I know he knows best, but i really want one.. You don't put poopie in it, just garden stuff and vegi scraps.. and newspaper, and cardboard, and best of all WORMS!!!!

And here are some things to take your mind off my composter:

Today is Cinco de Mayo in the U.S. and Mexico.

Here we are again, my friends.

It's spring time in the Mountains again. This means that one day you can be out side playing in 70 degree weather and the next morning wake up to snow. That's what happened this weekend here.
Friday i baled early and went home. My boyfriend and I played outside for a bit, then headed up the mountain to Black Hawk. We got to the Casino just in time, they had just opened and there wasn't mush of a line. I ate about three clusters of crab legs (they were really good) and then had some bites of other things. I will never know why people insist on using cilantro, it is gross, you should never add it to anything eatable. I'm just saying...
Then we headed over to a friend's house for some couch sitting and digesting. We ended up staying in the hills a little longer than expected, but the visit was good. And we realized it had been months since we had been up at elevation, so that is good to get back up top.
We started heading back to the city about 10pm. Got home, checked a few things on the TV and hit the sack. Saturday morning came and we decided that use the day to get all the magazines out in one day and not have to do any the rest of the weekend. We did just that. Got everything delivered. And i got a slice of pizza out of it... YEAH, I love when the route matches up to my hunger...
Before we really got moving on the deliveries, my boyfriend tells me that we have to go to this police station for a tour.. I guess it was some civil training course that was graduating. By the time we got there there wasn't much going on. But i had my video camera with me and got some B-roll shots of a fire truck and so on. We were taking the tour of the station, my camera was running and we went into the dispatch center. At the time there wasn't much going on, so one of the dispatchers was telling us about the different screens and different controls they have over the entire station as well we the cameras they have in all the rooms etc. At that time a call came in, an apparent DOA. So they all went into work mode. We were escorted out and continued the tour. There were a few holding cells, crime lab, etc. Very interesting, and i got some other b-roll of the jail cell etc.
When the tour was over, i was asked to talk to a police officer that was walking up to my boyfriend and I. He started telling me that i wasn't supposed to be shooting in the dispatch room, etc. To be honest, i was pretty sure someone was going to say something about that to me. So, i offered to show him what i shot. He was very apologetic but said that i had to delete all the dispatch room footage.. That sucked.. but i did get some interesting stuff. not sure what i am going to do with it. but it is fun to collect.
I am thinking about starting a website for the local area i live in and just put up event listings, and things like that, but then it is also an outlet for happenings that i shoot. Think it might give me a little more of a platform to use my skills and also gain me some additional press credentialing than i already get.. just something legit, i mean, you know.. these are all only ideas. Just thinking out loud i guess. It's that kind of day.
So, after the police station detour, we finished all the deliveries. For a reward, we stopped into one of our favorite bars and got a quick drink, then headed home.
Sunday started out as a lazy day. But when hunger over took us, we had to venture out. We have nothing in the house and neither one of us got paid until today to go some major grocery shopping. So we decided on Noodle's and CO. and ventured out of the house. We had a quick stop at Rite Aid (i ended up spending money that i didn't plan to spend, of course, should have gone grocery shopping instead). As we were headed up the street to get Noodles. we made a sudden turn into the parking lot of the shopping center where Joanne fabrics is.. My new favorite store in the whole world!!! i started, of course, asking questions but got no answers, my boyfriend just kept silent and driving. Then we pulled into a parking spot right in front of Joanne. I was about to jump out of my skin i was so excited.. THEN the best thing happened.. WE WENT INTO THE STORE...
We looked at all the quilting stuff and my boyfriend kept asking, what do you need.. what will make it easier to make quilts. etc.. Knowing that my birthday is next week, i was looking at some stuff. Ended up deciding on some template paper to make my own templates instead of the $10.00 ones they sell for one piece.. Then i thought about it and i really just need some more material. We got a little over whelmed when looking at the large wall of fabrics. But once we walked up to it we saw they had small pieces already cut for about $1.50 each.. My boyfriend told me to pick out 10. Since he has the better color sense, we picked out some fabrics and headed out. When we were walking out the door, i asked if he was going to wrap them for me to open and he said that it wasn't for my birthday.. it was just because..
Now, that is the darn sweetest thing ever.. I mean i don't want any flowers or jewelry. just some quilting fabrics and i am melting :)
After getting soe grub we headed back home and had a pretty lazy rest of the day. (except for going though my uilting books for a cool pattern to make.
That was my weekend. Seemed to have gone my really quick and i don't think that either of us rested too much. My boyfriend was fighting a bad headache this morning. I think we are in need of a good fun weekend coming up next weekend.. We need to blow off some steam, you know. And i think Chicago is a great place to do that.

Here are some things that are more interesting than me today..

Today is Hot Guitar Day, marking the British concert on this date in 1967 featuring Cat Stevens and Englebert Humperdinck when Jimi Hendrix first set fire to his guitar. (Englebert is so hot..)

Today is Buy Some New Socks Day. Go ahead, you’re worth it. (did that a few weeks ago at the outlets, but am wearing a new pair today..)

Today is Cesar Chavez Day. In 2000, California approved the creation of a new state holiday to honor Cesar Chavez, founder of the United Farm Workers.
Chavez was born on March 31, 1927, in Yuma, Arizona. (they are celebrating in Denver today)

Summer Time begins today in the U.K. The U.S. calls it daylight saving time..

Today is National Clams on the Half Shell Day. (friggen yummy)

Today is National "She's Funny That Way" Day, a day to pay tribute to funny women by listing ways the women in our lives make us laugh (sponsored by Brenda Meridith of Winchendon, Massachusetts, 978-297-1820). (Look for list in future blog)

And since my birthday is coming up, here are all the things that went on on this date, since i have been alive

1973: Loudon Wainright-the-3rd’s "Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road" peaked at #16 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

1974: Three Miami Dolphins, Larry Csonka, Jim Kiick, and Paul Warfield, signed with the World Football League’s Toronto Northmen, which soon became the Memphis Southmen. The World League folded within two years and still owes all three players money.

1985: "The Love Boat" celebrated its 200th TV episode by honoring its 1,000th guest star, Lana Turner.

1989: "Wrestlemania-5," pitting Hulk Hogan against Macho Man Savage, became the largest pay-per-view program in cable TV history. (I watched it)

1995: The 23-year-old Tejano star Selena Quintanilla-Perez was shot and killed at a Corpus Christi motel. The manager of her boutiques was convicted of the murder and sentenced to life in prison.

1998: God did not appear live at 10:00 a.m. on Channel 18 as predicted by a Tawanese UFO cult in Garland, Texas. The group had predicted God’s appearance for months. (shocking)

1999: During a promotional ride of a new roller coaster at the Busch Gardens theme park in Williamsburg, Virginia, model Fabio was cut over the nose when a bid flew into his face. (That is too funny..I grew up going to this theme park)

2001: In Thessaloniki, Greece, two men using a crossbow to shoot drugs over a prison wall were arrested by police and charged with narcotics trafficking. Police had been staking out the Diavata prison after wardens discovered small bags of heroin and hashish hanging from the barbed wire atop the wall surrounding the penitentiary. (pure geniuses)

2005: Terri Schiavo, a 41-year-old Florida woman in a persistent vegetative state since 1990, died 14 days after removal of her feeding tube in a right-to-die dispute that involved the courts, Congress and the White House.

Don't make me pinch you...

WOW, that was a good weekend.. Did a whole bunch of nothing while getting some stuff done.
Friday my boyfriend and I totally blew off a friend's birthday party and stayed home to watch TV. Neither one of us really wanted to go but we felt obligated, but then we decided that we didn't have to be obligated we felt better and stayed home. I can rationalize anything. But it was good to stay in, do nothing and hit the sac early.
Saturday i had envisioned a day of getting stuff done around the house. I had one quick errand to run to the fabric store to find some batting, but had to measure my blanket first. So, my boyfriend moaned and groaned all the way to the living room to help me measure my creation. (it's really big and I couldn't really do it on my own.. shut up, it's hard to add sometimes.) And he promptly told me about how much he didn't want to leave the house and was so tired. So, I say fine, get ready to go to the fabric store and suddenly he is back in the bedroom putting on his clothes and ASKING ME to go with him.. There was a good sale at Rite Aid (i shit you not) that got the man out of the house.

So, to make a long story short(er) I got bribed by a trip to the outlet stores (about 20 minutes south of town) to go with him to an Easter Egg hunt for kids at a local park. he had to take pics for the newspaper he works at. We went to the hunt because i have been trying to get the the outlet mall for about a year, so i was a sucker for the trip from the beginning and he knew it. Funny how men take advantage of our weaknesses. Shopping at the outlets will always get me, I admit. The kids were cute but the parents are pathetic. I mean this is for the kids, we all know that but the parents are crazy.. They are all screaming at their kid to get the "toys and prizes" that are on the ground, but mostly all the kids want are the eggs. So the parents are screaming to clueless 3 year olds that are just running around, dropping their eggs, spilling their baskets, stealing eggs from unsuspecting other clueless 3 year olds. Then don't even get me started about making these poor clueless kids get their picture taken with a four story (from their perspective) while rabbit that walks on two legs and has very large teeth. I mean their very own parents hand them over to a perfect stranger, you can't even see this person's eyes; and you say, here is my child, have them so i can take a picture. The kid starts screaming, every one laughs and this kid is terrified. Barrel of laughs..so anyway....

Then when the field is picked clean, the families spread out and check out the loot like they were having a picnic, at 10 o'clock in the morning.. Read me in a few years and I will have a story about cute little johnny picking up eggs and getting their picture taken with the easter bunny, but for right now, i think it is silly..

Then we ran out of the event and speed to Denny's because all these egg picking families are going there for breakfast and we wanted to beat the rush. Which they did and we did. More discussions about how we don't want to be "typical parents" at breakfast....but i am not sure that is possible. again, read this in a few years and tell me what a hypocrite i am or how i was talking out my ass. I will be ok with it.. (not really~ so don't press your luck).

The just as I thought we were on our way to spending my hard earned cash, we make an exit off the highway. I am then informed that there was some building projects that my boyfriend was doing a story on and that we need to go get some more pictures, oh yeah, and I had to drive.
(i should have known that one easter egg hunt was not enough collateral for a trip to the outlets.) So, around neighborhoods, in and out of parking lots and construction sites. Stopping and waiting, going and stopping. 30 minutes more and then we were back on the highway.

I saw the sign and just about pee-ed in my pants we had made it to Mecca, we had made it to the Outlet Mall.. here's what i got:
Border's bookstore - one dish suppers and 1,000 quilt blocks books
Jockey- Sweat suit/jogging suit (black with white stripe)
Leggs/Hanes- 3 pair of softest socks in the world- that's what they're called.. they are awesome
Pets Supplies- New KONG, bath soap for Watson, and new leashes and collars for both dogs. (everything was 50% off.. seriously.)
Gap- new jeans
That's about it... and we went to Rite Aid, of course..:) spent some cash there too..
Saturday night we did nothing but watch TV.. my favorite. and i salivated over some quilt blocks that i wanted to make.

Sunday I went to the fabric store.... when measuring the blanket the day before we found that no two sides are the same length, so i need some help fixing it. Of course there was no one there that was a sewing expert, so i have to come back.
then my next stop was (DRUM ROLL PLEASE) Great Clips.. yup mom, you read that right. I got my hair cut. Nothing special, it just isn't down to my belt anymore. Cute shorter cut, just below my shoulders..
Then i went home, made some chicken chowder from my new cookbook in the slow cooker and made some blocks from my quilting book. Did anyone happen to see CBS Sunday Morning?? Well they had a story on this quilter guy and his work was very inspiring to me.
That was my weekend, thanks for asking..
I also have to tell you all something.. well, here's how it went down.
I entered the building. There he stood.
Quietly i said "I don't know how to tell you this, but i have been doing a lot of thing and i think we need to talk.
He looked concerned and asked me to have a seat. I told him that i had been trying to make it work for me the last few weeks, but it has gotten to the point that i couldn't pretend any longer and that i thought it was time to end our relationship.
He asked if there was anything that he could change to convince me to change my mind and I just looked down and said no. I had made up my mind, and that it was best for both of us this way.
Then he said. "no problem ma'am" and handed me the paperwork.
I felt better, not to mention richer... I spent too much money on this relationship that was not working.
So, i will tell you all that i have officially broken up with my gym.
Fat and flabby 35 here i come. :)

Now a few tidbits that you can use to make yourself seems smarter~

Today is St. Patrick's Day, a national holiday in Ireland. The World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade is held in Maryville, Missouri. The parade route gets shorter every year, down now to about 85 feet (816-562-9965).

Hell Yeah... It's the weekend!!!

Not that i have anything exciting planned this weekend. But just not getting out of bed and having to go through the morning routine for a few days is great, don't you all agree?? And if you don't do the traditional job, then shut, up, sit down and stop bragging..

So, this weekend. well it is getting to be a whopping 55 degrees on Saturday, and sunday... so maybe a little disc golf. It is going to be a lot less windy this weekend so maybe my partners can hang on to their discs..

My first softball game is in a few weeks so i guess i should go toss the ball around since i am pitching. So that might be on order.. and i am going to work on my blanket that you all still haven't seen... so, i am sure you don't care that much.

My dog you ask??? thanks for thinking about him.. well we went to the vet. he is good. heart and lungs sound good.. and we think he has an eye infection, so we get drops twice a day and i think it is already starting to feel better.. at least looked better last night.

But the good news is that my vet wants to enter my dog in an arthritis study. He has bad hips (mixing German Shepard and Rottweiller gives you a great dog, but BAD, BAD hips..-just mental note) so they took some blood (and shaved a little spot on his chest) and we will know today if he qualifies.. So, he will get arthritis meds, there are no placebos, they want to get a liquid form of an already used drug on the market) and then he gets a bunch of free vet visits and tests... Then at the end he gets a $250 credit at the vet.. we will see. I really would love for him to get some help. Good boy watson!!!

well It's not 2pm yet, so i don't know what snack is, you'll have to wait. In the mean time, here are some things you can talk about at those wild parties everyone but me goes to all weekend.
~ today is peace corps day, celebrated it's founding in 1961.
~ today is Baseball hat appreciation day.. (i got a few...)
~ today is 'get grandma to write down her meatloaf recipe day. i say do it!!! i wish i still could..
~ today the world's largest rattlesnake round-up begins today in Sweetwater Texas. But hurry, it seems the Miss. Snakecharmer pageant entries deadline is today.

In My lifetime, these things happened on this day.. I am ringing my dog right now..and I don't expect the movie we see tonight to start the same way as the chick did last year.

Tina Kilford of Weymouth, England, was sitting there with two friends and a tub of ice cream, watching the trailers, when she suddenly saw Tom Lane on the screen, holding a card saying, "Hi Tina!" As a finale, Lane appeared, kneeling by Kilford's seat with a ring. The audience cheered when she yelled "Yes!"

And one last note to remember:

11 days and counting...
So, Monday again. Sorry for the lite postings last week. I just didn't have it in me. But i am back on it this week. I've only got 11 days then off to the beach for a little fun and Umphrees McGee and Disco Biscuit party.
I have really been watching what i eat and using this website that gives you meal plans for trying to lose weight and it is working. I have to get back into that bikini in 11 days so i might as well try. Well last night i was measuring out " serving" of the soup we had and was telling my boyfriend that i can't wait to have three desserts each night, just because i can. He laughed at me measuring my soup and talking about over eating in Jamaica. I have really enjoyed these meal plans and they are totally helping, so i am not going to go totally crazy, and will continue when i get back. but when i am there, i can't go nuts for every calorie my whisky and cokes have or the Mango daiquiri with the little umbrella etc. But i can't wait to wake up and sit on the beach, then have some lunch, little nap, little swim, little dinner and two HUGE SHOWS!!! I have been talking about it all weekend.
I am sure that by tomorrow i will not have much left to say and will start talking about other topics, but for now that is what is on my mind.
So, this past weekend was a fast one for me. On Saturday we delivered these music magazines that we devilver each month. This is the first, so we had deliveries. I am just glad it was on a weekend. The weekday months SUCK> But we spent a lot of the day doing that, then just came home and watched a bunch of TV and laid on the sofa. It was soooo Cold.
Sunday my boyfriend had to cover an event at the Local St. Joesph's hospital. I guess the nuns that volunteer there are HUGE Bronco fans and they watch each sunday religiously,, he he get it??? anyway one Sunday a year they throw this big party for them, basically. Just showing that they are fans. i think. But anyway i got talked into going and there was some food, drink, nuns dressed in their bronco attire and a large projection of the game. It was fun. We thanked the nuns for the glass of wine on a Sunday at the hospital and left. The reason i got talked into going to the nun event is (#1) my boyfriend said that since i went to a catholic high school i shouldn't have any problem going, (yeah didn't make since to me either) and (#2) if i went then we could go to the free day at the science museum. That reason worked for me.. So, we went to the science museum. that was fun.
That's about it for me. Time to get back to work i guess.
Happy monday to all.

Tell me baby why you been gone so long, been gone so long.

Sorry to leave everyone hanging for the last ferw days but I have been gone to the east coast for the holiday weekend. I didn't mention anything on my blog, because, although she may not visit everyday, my mom does stop by and this trip was a surprise for her.
My dad and i planned my trip and kept quiet for weeks to pull it off. And it worked. She didn't have a clue i was coming and i scared the living crap out of her when we picked her up from a shopping excursion and i was hidden in the back seat. She screamed so loud then was really excited. It was fun to get her good...
The next one to fool was my sister. She didn't know either. Her wedding anniversary happened to fall on Thanksgiving this year. She got one f those awesome touch iPods, she was so excited she called me. My boyfriend answered the phone and said i wasn't there. That stirred her suspicion, but when i called her right back, i tried to easy her curiosity by telling her that i was standing in snow and that i was certain i was in Denver. The next day when she and her family arrived at my mom's for dinner, i came out of the garage and scared her too. She was really happy to see me as were the kids.
What fun that was. and Thanksgiving dinner was great. We had a blast hanging out and talking. We did some shopping on Friday. There were a ton of people out, but we got a lot of what we were looking for. We weren't the crazy ones lining up at best buy at noon on thanksgiving, so it could have been hit or miss.
I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgivne and a good trip back from where ever it was you ate.
I am back and in full swing, so keep checking back, more posts to come.

Keep On With The Force Don't Stop, Don't stop till you get enough.

That is what i was listening too while doing my reps on the weight machines( Michael jackson, from the blog title). It is amazing what i find on my iPod every time i turn it on. This past summer, while we were going though Cali and Oregon (remember that trip?) anyway we wanted to listen to a book on my ipod, but i had copied it from the library so it went into my music folder under the authors name. In order to listen to the book from beginning to end we had to turn off the shuffle. Here i am, at least three months later and we can't figure out how to get the overall shuffle back on. We can find the song, album shuffle, but i have no idea how to get it to shuffle between albums, artists and songs. I can shuffle an album but not the whole iPod, you dig? so, this has been very frustrating for my walking in the afternoons. Now, instead of just letting the music flow, i have to choose an artist, then make sure i have more than an albums worth to get me though the whole cardio time. If not then i have to think and choose something else while i am at full sweating capacity and thinking is the last thing i want to be doing. Plus i am not the best decision maker as it is, and making these decisions after a single song is WAY to much, but i digress. Anyway, i have mostly been listening to Mika, who i have given you many glimpses at over the last two weeks and while i am a the weight machines i look though my ipod for other things to listen to. I found Micheal Jackson but will always think of String Cheese Doing "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough"

I got my flu shot the other day. I don't think i need it but the people I work around all got theirs and were telling me that if i got them sick this winder i would pay for it. Now that i think about it, if they all got flu shots, they wouldn't get sick anyway... Damn, i got suckered.. but i guess i will be healthy though this winter.. There go my plans of calling in sick for a week and watching Judge Judy for eight days straight.

This weekend we will be around the house a lot but my boyfriend has some places that he want's to go shoot photos for the newspaper he works for. I think we will be hitting up the Botanical Gardens here in Denver as well as some other photo ops. Then it is all resting and laundry. I know, exciting... But our exciting weekend days are winding down or the music coming though isn't worth our cash. OK, i will say it is the later rather than admitting i may be getting old(er).

Have a great weekend where ever that maybe. and remember next week is a short work week so we can all stuff our faces and watch football and feel like this hedgehog . I love America!!!!

Monday monday....

Today is a slow one for me. We have had two very busy weekends with parent visits. They were all great, but just lot of activity all weekend. So it will be nice to rest tonight and have no obligations.
I am going to hit the gym and then have an easy night.
Rockies start the next run on Thursday. Which isn't that great of timing for me. We are going to be at the Great American Beer Festival. That is one of the best events of the year. I sure hope they have a large screen TV to watch.
Then Friday and Saturday is WIDESPREAD PANIC!!!!!
Hell yeah!!!
so, pardon the short update today. I am tired...
oh- Animal crackers for snack..
have a good monday night and watch Dancing with the Stars and vote for Mark Cuban....
he needs our help!!!

The weekend's here and the time is right, for dancing in the streets

So happy friday to all who stumble on this blog and for the few unfortunate regulars. Weekends are the best part of the week and this one is no exception. I feel very fortunate to be living in the mile high city this weekend. Tell me where else are you going to see the Wild Card winners clinch the National League Division Finals??? huh??? where else??? well no where else, because it is going to happen here in Denver tomorrow night. GO ROCKIES!!! and if you have a line on a ticket, i am still looking.
So, this sunday is kinda of a cool, unique things also. How many other major cities can you do a sport tripple header with three of the top performing teams in professional sports. Some die hards, I am sure, are going to try to pull this off. On Sunday, only in the city of Denver can you wake up early and run a marathon for Breast Cancer, ("run for a cure", brings over 100,000 people alone into the city) then at 2pm catch the Broncos at Mile High Stadium, at 5pm, dash over to the Pepsi Center to watch the Avalanche play one of the first games of the season, then at 8, if need be, the Rockies will try for the National League Champs if they didn't do it on Saturday night.
Now that is a good day/night in Denver...if you like sports.

My boyfriends parents are coming into town this weekend, well should be here now, i guess. Tonight we are doing an art walk in Denver, then Sunday the Art Museum, so a weekend full of culture and expanding my brain. then next weekend is a weekend for killing some brain cells as PANIC will be back in town for the weekend.

My doc called and all my levels are good from my blood draw yesterday, so i am as healthy as one can get, according to my blood. so that is good.

So have a great weekend all, and don't forget to CHEER FOR THE ROCKIES!!!!
(and the indians for my dad).

(PS- snack time was trail mix- nothing exciting, but good for you)

I'm A smooth operator...

OK, so, first i have to apologize for not having any new pictures up for you to see of the Lips show. I spent about three hours yesterday fixing all the one that needed to be turned and such and started uploading them to the site. Then my photo program crashed and all my fixed photos were lost. ALL OF THEM. I was so upset that i left the computer to go pout and watch some Bronco's football.. (we lost :( ) It was not an operator error, it was most definitely a computer error.
So, i will try again tonight to show you some. There are some really good ones, so that is why i am trying so hard. Most of you probably don't care, but i do, so i will keep trying.

This weekend was everything i had hoped it to be. On Saturday we got up and had to go to a kids football contest for my boyfriend to take pictures of for the paper he edits. But after that we went to Target, and a few furniture stores to see if we could find a new sofa. Ours is hurting and is totally on it's last legs. not to mention doesn't go with anything else we own. so we thought we might try to grow up and not look like we are still living in a dorm. But not this weekend. So, then we came home, ate lunch and took a long nap. it was sooooooo needed. felt great to sleep for a while. so, when we got up we cleaned a little and had some dinner and watched some tv.

Sunday was a little more relaxed, if that is possible. We didnt go anywhere, which i always good. well, except Rite Aid on our weekly sunday visit. and i got a few things. Then we went home. and that's about it. I cleaned my room a little more. We had my favorite dinner, TACO DINNER!!!!!
and went to bed..
Have you all been watching the Rockies? probably not, well we are only 1.5 out of first place to get into the play offs.. I am thinking i will make my parents go to a game with me saturday night, It is fan appreciation day.. and i am a fan!!! Helton has been playing great, Atkins had an in-park home run... etc.. we are doing great!
and we are not talking about the Broncos game. We will see how they do next week against the Colts.. ok, shut up, i can still wish...
out for now..

If it looks like rain....

Happy September everyone.. Today is the 4th, but who's counting..
So, we are only days away from the full on Autumn season. Time to put the bathing suits away, the swimming pool gear and all the hoses for grass watering.
I like this time of year. Fall and Spring are my favorites. I think in the Spring you are just waiting for the first day of not wanting to wear your jacket and for the Fall i am just itching to pull it back out. (or maybe spring for a new one)
Well before we get into cold weather talk, lets talk about Labor day weekend..
Hope everyone had a safe one.
Mine was a little less than desired, but i wanted to get the sofa cleaned and do my laundry and both those things did get accomplished. As well as my least favorite task in the world. See my boyfriend delivers this music magazine around Denver every friggen month. he gets a little money for it, but not much. So, every month i get roped into driving him around so it is easier for him to get in and out of the car and not having to park legally to make the drops.
It is my least favorite task because all the deliveries are in pain in the ass places and it usually intales me making a wrong turn, getting yelled at and then cussing in my head for the rest of the trip.
Well this month, we stretched it out to three days of delivering. By the second day i was SOOOO over it. but we were going to see a band that i don't like that night at Red Rocks. If you have read any other of my posts you would know that i am kind of sick of that venue. and especially now. So, we did the deliveries, i got yelled at and we went to the show. Well dont you know that it rained from the frist second we stepped foot in the venue (no, you cant re-enter) and didnt stop for over an hour. I had some rain gear, but it was all water resistant, not water proof, so i got wet. and cold and was even crying at one point that i didn't even want to be there, hated the band and way over the venue. Needless to say it stopped and the band did play. i didn't like it and will be sure to remember that before i get a free ticket. so, yes, even with a free ticket i will not be seeing them again.
So, here i sit at work, with my throat getting scratchy, coughing more regularly than this morning and feeling like i could take a long sleep..
so, off to rest and see you all tomorrow
Snack time was Otter Pups, the frozen tubes of sugar water.. i had a cherry. figured the sugar would help me though the rest of this day.

nothing to do, no where to go....

I want to be sedated...
now, that is a classic song, and a perfect description of my day today...
We are sitting at home, watching a ton of television that was have saved over the last month of being gone. We have to catch up on Big Brother after dark, (comes on showtime, jeff got it while i was back home visiting). Also top chef (we call it top chief) and a ton on movies we saved since getting showtime..
So, it is off to the sofa for me. I have cleaned the kitchen and walked to rite-aid to get some toilet paper and paper towels and some razors that had on sale all before 10am.. (i know very exciting) but that is what i am going for this weekend, nothing and i mean NOTHING exciting!!!
LOVE IT!!

oh what a night...

I can get used to these long weekends. It didn't pan out exactly like i thought, but I got a few things done. Friday i came home early- see previous post for why. It was a pleasant evening and then to bed. Saturday a friend came over and we went to eat Mexican. LOVE IT!!! i had the vegi fajitas. love the sizzle. Then we came back home. I immediately put on some shorts, a t-shirt and grabbed the ladder.

I mentioned before that we have gotten a lot of rain. Well the windows right above my television screen show a waterfall off the roof when it rains. The gutters needed to be cleaned, badly. So i climbed up, my boyfriend got the hose and we cleared out about three years of nasty smelling black goo. And now they sparkle :).. i popped open a beer and enjoyed the success of getting something done. Later that day we went up to a friends house in Rollinsville. It is about an hour drive up the mountains. It is the area where both my boyfriend and i lived before deciding we could get more work in the city. So we still have friends up top. We grilled out, ate a baked potato that i have been craving for a few days and watched a movie. We were supposed to go to see a band, but all of us crapped out. Jeff and i just came home.

Sunday was full of doing nothing. I planted some patch grass seed, and sunbathed while jeff messed in the garden. Today is much of the same. I love days like these. I havent changed out of my pajamas. I was thinking about going for a walk to get myself bikini-ready, but opted for the beer i am drinking and the book i am about to go in the backyard and read.
Happy Memorial Day. Bring Our Troops Home NOW!!!
