Wedneday snack

What a beautiful day and a perfect day for a perfect snack!!!

OK, i have to admit i was hoping we would be having ice cream sandwiches... See, i am lactose intolerant.. (just wont tolerate dairy- wont stand for it at all)
and i don't like to take meds that allow my body to take it. I just don't understand why i would want to trick my body into wanting something it naturally doesn't. So anyway, when we have ice cream sandwiches, they are usually the cheap kind that doesn't have a lot of lactose..
anyway, today, 2pm, i go to the lunch room and see
Skim Milk made FUDGESICKLES!!!!

Hell Friggen YEAH!!!

great way to end to work week for me.. I am traveling the next few days to see my family on the right coast. (East for those that are right and left challenged)
I will post from my trip...
But i gotta go now, my fudge cycle is melting..

What is wrong with the world today?

OK what is up with all the Hollywood starlettes going to shit? I wish we had the glammor of old Hollywood in this day and age. Lindsy Lohan going to rehab, again.. paris going to Jail, Joe Fransis IN jail and Nicole Richie is going to be nothing but a close hanger soon. Why???? I mean , today, does money at a young age mean they never developed brains?? WOW.. I guess i wasnt that bad of a kid after all. All of this is just so crazy to me. But i have to say, i buy into the drama as a consumer.. Better them than me, i say. :)

Tuesday Snack Time

The day after a good weekend is always hard. But it is not a pretty day so why not be inside. I, thankfully have switched tapes to some tapes of the Florida election process in 2004. What a mess that was. Some of the tapes have b-roll of hanging chads from the 2000 election. Been a while since i heard that expression.

Anyway the clock struck 2pm and i took my walk to the lunch room trying to guess what the snack is going to be. It is a fun little game i play with myself. I am usually wrong.
I turn the corner and everyone that is usually on that side of the building was outside, under our overhang, watching the sky dump rain and hail. Glad i cleaned the gutters, just wish i was at home to watch them work. The joy in a small success.

So, i by-passed the hail watchers and went for the snack..... and it is........

oh what a night...

I can get used to these long weekends. It didn't pan out exactly like i thought, but I got a few things done. Friday i came home early- see previous post for why. It was a pleasant evening and then to bed. Saturday a friend came over and we went to eat Mexican. LOVE IT!!! i had the vegi fajitas. love the sizzle. Then we came back home. I immediately put on some shorts, a t-shirt and grabbed the ladder.

I mentioned before that we have gotten a lot of rain. Well the windows right above my television screen show a waterfall off the roof when it rains. The gutters needed to be cleaned, badly. So i climbed up, my boyfriend got the hose and we cleared out about three years of nasty smelling black goo. And now they sparkle :).. i popped open a beer and enjoyed the success of getting something done. Later that day we went up to a friends house in Rollinsville. It is about an hour drive up the mountains. It is the area where both my boyfriend and i lived before deciding we could get more work in the city. So we still have friends up top. We grilled out, ate a baked potato that i have been craving for a few days and watched a movie. We were supposed to go to see a band, but all of us crapped out. Jeff and i just came home.

Sunday was full of doing nothing. I planted some patch grass seed, and sunbathed while jeff messed in the garden. Today is much of the same. I love days like these. I havent changed out of my pajamas. I was thinking about going for a walk to get myself bikini-ready, but opted for the beer i am drinking and the book i am about to go in the backyard and read.
Happy Memorial Day. Bring Our Troops Home NOW!!!

State of shock...

On Friday i had a very, very shocking experience. So, as i said earlier, i archive tapes at the tv station i work at. I go to the librarians and we decide what is relevant, that we may be asked for footage of. Like anything doing with elections because next year is election year, so I am prepared with footage that may be requested. Of course i have been working on a lot of stories from Iraq and the middle east.
I had this mis-mash of footage from Afghanistan. Some of it was about the poppy cultivation, some tapes were the drug smugglers i mentioned in the first post. I was emailing my sister about how fast i was burning though these tapes and that I was happy they were going well. And then it happened. I put in tape 5, labeled the log and started watching. First some Afghan people running across a road, some toward a bigger building, some in the other direction, then a quick cut and BAMMMM..no warning, was the --- um---well i will say it is what a suicide bomber looks like AFTER the bomb went off.. SHOCKING!!! that's the only way i can explain it. The next shot was even more shocking when I could start to identify parts of a face. Needless to say, i quickly turned off the monitor, ripped off my headphones and ran away from my desk. I delt as if i was going to get sick and went to get some air. After talking to my boyfriend and gettng some air, i went back to my desk. I just couldn't bring myself to turn it back on. After sitting there for a few minutes thinking, i decided not to finish that tape and move on to the rest. I quickly completed the box (aside from the two tapes labeled "suicide bombings") turned off all my equipment and left for the day. I was home by noon. My boyfriend needed to run some errands, so i went along for the ride. It wasnt long before i realized that i was still in shock and letting it out in anger toward traffic, songs on the radio and anything else i could cuss about. We were heading back home when i asked if we could stop by Dairy Queen. Something about a basic hot fudge sundae that will set a bad day straight.

How does your garden grow?

So, here are a few pictures of our garden. Last year we had a good one also. This year we changed up the layout to maximize the amount of water each vegetable can get with the sprinkler system and not having to manually hold the hose. As with last summer we will be going out of town for some music later in the summer and getting a friend to come feed the dogs and let them out is asking a lot, but to ask them to water our garden too is too much. Especially for one friend that tends to come and stay while we are gone.

So, everything is in the ground and sprouting, so here are the first pictures of the garden.
(Cant tell i figured out how to add photos:)~

S0.....This one is our spicy lettuce mix

This is the tomato plants and a ton of Zucchini, squash, cucumber and water melon. We planted a ton of seeds and will weed out the weaker plants as they get bigger. We learned out lesson last year with more zucchini then we could stand.

And the third is the whole garden, We have a ton of spinach right now. Some how the snow we had all winter protected our crop from last summer. We were so surprised when the snow melted and our spinach was still green and growing. As i speak my boyfriend is making a spinach lasagna for dinner. i think it is safe to say we will be eating everything spinach for a while. But we are also growing green peppers, hot chili peppers, eggplant, carrots, onion, three different tomatoes, green beans and in the picture my boyfriend is tending to the peas.

It is going to be a yummy summer.

Circles Revisited

Here are the circles.. You can kinda tell. I actually was corrected by a friend that they are actually spirals. But they were fun to make.

Net sure what the next design will be. I am thinking diamonds. They say they are a girls best friend...

Will it go 'round in circles

So, it has been raining a ton out here. This is kind of rare. My boyfriend and I were talking yesterday that this time last year, we had a lot of brown patches that needed nursing, and we had the water bill to prove it. But this year, the 2 feet of snow that stuck around all winter, with new piling on week after week coupled with the great rainfall we have had has turned our backyard into a green expanse. With that great carpet of greenness, we also have to manicure it. Well since i was a kid i was convinced that my father had children to do chores he didn't want to do, thus i grew up not minding to cut the lawn. (i also figured that because i grew up in the south east, i now, in my older years, don't mind shoveling show, but that is for a different season). This spring i have had to cut the lawn more then last. I get bored going up and down or side to side, so a few mowing-s ago i started patterns. (only in the backyard, the neighbors like the boring stripes) So i did diagonals- and then the other way. Last week i did criss-crosses (not the most efficient way to do it as you leave little triangles that you then have to go back and do). So, after my commute home yesterday with too many morons driving to count, i cracked a beer and sat outside playing ball with my dogs (and yes, rottweilers do play fetch). The grass was long and we have one picky dog (husky-Malamute-wolf) that doesn't like to walk on the grass when it gets too long.. She is weird, we never claimed she wasn't) so after noting that she was about to pee on the porch i pulled the mower out in to the lawn and looked at my canvas. The song "will it 'round in circles" came into my mind and i started mowing.
I cant figure out how to add pictures, but i see that all of the other bloggers have them, so it cant be too hard. So, as soon as i figure it out, i will show my circles.. It looks pretty cool.
Now, if the rain will hold off a few days as i need to think of a new pattern. I am up for suggestions.

thursday's snack

I will give a little back ground to this to-be-reoccurring post...

I work at a TV station.. We are not a typical broadcast news type station. We are a small High Definition station that you can watch only if you have HD receiving with your cable package and you have an HD television.
My "big boss" is a 30-something billionaire that sold his Internet company to Yahoo and made a TON of cash. Oh, and he is the owner of a major Basketball team. have to say the man is passionate about his team!
Anyway. we don't see a ton of perks working here besides no "managers" or "supervisors" as you would typically know the positions and full health care paid for by my "Bog Boss" (thank you!!!) but by far the best perk of working here is snack time!!! Our Lovely receptionist gets to pick what it is each day, but it is different.. So you will have to tune in everyday~after 2PM mountain time (- you can do the math yourself--- of email and i will help)
So, today.... the snack is.....

CHOCOLATE BROWNIES WITH CHOCOLATE CHIPS!!!!!!

Does anybody really care?

So, my sister has been asking why i don't start a blog for myself. Well since giving it a lot of thought, i decided to give it a shot.. Who knows how long this will go, but i am up for the challenge.

So.. today... What made today the special day to start? well, nothing. I cant think of a better reason to acknowledge nothing then by talking about it..

Today is nothing special. got out of bed, with out an alarm. Lately it hasn't been a problem for me to get up. I guess it has something to do with the fact that i dont loathe my job. But i got up, took a shower before i realized that at the point of drifting off to dream land last night, i made a promise to myself that if i got up before 6:15 i would go for a quick brisk walk. Didn't happen.. So much for best intentions. The shower was good, but not as long as i would like to spend in there.
Not a hard thought on what to wear to work today. It is seasonably-unseasonably cool. So it was jeans and a sweatshirt for sure.. And my new fuzzy socks (the softest in the world- but more on that another day)

So, at my work; we have a set restaurant we order lunch from on any given day. The calendar is set at the start of the month, and not with out some small changes though the month, it is pretty reliable.. Thursdays is ALWAYS Mexican food.. Today it is Chipotle.. I love their soft tacos... And i am even thinking about getting some Guacamole to go with it... i know, livin' on the edge.

Well a side from lunch, i get to watch video of stupid drug smugglers getting caught in Kabul International Airport. It is amazing where these people will hide drugs.. and kinda of stupid too..
