I want to rock and roll all night...

Hey all- well they are on their way. My folks just called from the airport and they are ready to get on the flying machine and head west.
I am really excited to see them. I have the wine request, and i am going to get my fixed car washed. After that i think i am going to hit the gym to give me something to do. Other wise i am just going to be pacing the front room waiting for them to get here. I am so excited.

Today we had some apple pie with nuts sprinkled on the top for snack. I didn't get any. To me there is no reason to ruin a perfectly good apple pie with nut on top.
but they did and that's what they served us.

Survivor is on tonight and don't say anything to me about Kitchen Confidential, i haven't seen it yet. that will be while i am waiting.

We are going to take a drive to the Mountains tomorrow and see some aspen groves changing color. Then I will show them the small mountain town that i used to live in.
Pictures will come, i promise...
See you in a few days...
Have a great weekend!!!

Get out of my dreams, get into my car

my poor car is at the doctors. I took it in last week because the back was making this god awful noise. The couple that own the shop said that they would take a look. Well it ended up being the struts. All of them are bad and the guy said that driving it felt like a "boat in the ocean" so i guess that is bad. Personally i like boats in the ocean, but i guess you car is not suppposed to feel like that. So it is getting fixed. again.

It is tuesday and i have to report that i am wearing my pedometer again. I am no where close to the 10,000 steps a day that "they" say you should be taking. but i am getting there... I started wearing it saturday and as you can tell from my post of that day, i didn;t rack up too many steps. Only about 2500.

Sunday was a little better, but not by much. i think i got it up to 2700 that day.
Yesterday i rejoined my gym and walked 1.5 miles on the tredmill and only got up to 5400...

So, today so far i am up to 3304, and that is counting a lunch time walk. not bad... and at least i am trying and at least i have a goal. everyone needs a goal.

Sugar cookies and Chocolate chip coookies are on the table for snack time today. yesterday we had individual packets of the dangerous Cheez-it crackers. I only ate half the bag when i saw the calorie count on the back and new i would just have to walk longer to work it off. Same with the cookie today.
Speaking of cookies, my sister told me that she made me some home made cookies for my parents to bring out to me.. I hope they let them on the plane. Otherwise i can see both mom and dad eating them all before boarding as to not waste them... :)

OK, back to work..
You know, if you read this you can always leave me a comment. I love getting them (thanks sis) and sometimes i even answer them back in the comments area. so check it.

hail hail the gangs all here

It is HAILING out right now... they are just little pea sized hail, but still it is falling..
The weather lady said there might be snow in the foothills, (anything above 8500 feet) but i wasnt expecting little white things to be falling here.
But this is the strange weather we get out here.
thought i would share.

I'm A smooth operator...

OK, so, first i have to apologize for not having any new pictures up for you to see of the Lips show. I spent about three hours yesterday fixing all the one that needed to be turned and such and started uploading them to the site. Then my photo program crashed and all my fixed photos were lost. ALL OF THEM. I was so upset that i left the computer to go pout and watch some Bronco's football.. (we lost :( ) It was not an operator error, it was most definitely a computer error.
So, i will try again tonight to show you some. There are some really good ones, so that is why i am trying so hard. Most of you probably don't care, but i do, so i will keep trying.

This weekend was everything i had hoped it to be. On Saturday we got up and had to go to a kids football contest for my boyfriend to take pictures of for the paper he edits. But after that we went to Target, and a few furniture stores to see if we could find a new sofa. Ours is hurting and is totally on it's last legs. not to mention doesn't go with anything else we own. so we thought we might try to grow up and not look like we are still living in a dorm. But not this weekend. So, then we came home, ate lunch and took a long nap. it was sooooooo needed. felt great to sleep for a while. so, when we got up we cleaned a little and had some dinner and watched some tv.

Sunday was a little more relaxed, if that is possible. We didnt go anywhere, which i always good. well, except Rite Aid on our weekly sunday visit. and i got a few things. Then we went home. and that's about it. I cleaned my room a little more. We had my favorite dinner, TACO DINNER!!!!!
and went to bed..
Have you all been watching the Rockies? probably not, well we are only 1.5 out of first place to get into the play offs.. I am thinking i will make my parents go to a game with me saturday night, It is fan appreciation day.. and i am a fan!!! Helton has been playing great, Atkins had an in-park home run... etc.. we are doing great!
and we are not talking about the Broncos game. We will see how they do next week against the Colts.. ok, shut up, i can still wish...
out for now..

Thank God it's... friday....

I have been waiting for this day all week. I feel that i need some time off and a good sleep.
So, last night we went to an event is the swanky part of town where my boyfriend works. This area is specifically covered in the newspaper he edits, so we went to get some good pictures for them to use in the paper.
The event was a "taste of greenwood village" and boy do they have a ton of great restaurants and stuff. I had one of the best seafood enchiladas i have ever tasted. Even had real crab meat in it, not the imitation crap.. i mean crab.- slip of the finger..:)
but this was really great. We had some awesome sushi, really good BBQ shrimp that my boyfriend had. I didn't get any because it was wrapped in bacon, but it looked really great.
We also were looking down the silent auction stuff and saw that there was a pub that we have been to once and had a very good meal. Well they were auctioning off a $50 gift certificate. The bid was at $30, so my boyfriend scribbled $35 at the last minute and we got it.. It is very close to his office ad at least twice a week he has to work really late. Since he is the cook of the house, when he works late, we dont eat well, so this way, i can go meet him at this pub at least twice over the next few weeks and have some good dinner with out worry.. i like that.
Hey, did i tell you guys about a gift card that i found? well at my last job, for Christmas, my boss gave out King Sooper gift cards, *(that is our local grocery store). I have had this card floating in and out of my wallet for three years. I relocated it about 4 months ago and didn't think anything of it, I thought that maybe it had about $10 on it or whatever.... So, i finally had it in my wallet the other week when we went shopping. This shopping trip happened on the same paycheck at rent, so we were both kind of hurting for cash. When we checked out, i remembered the card and handed it over to the cashier. It was worth $25!!! we were both so excited. It is like finding free money.. can't beat that.

Next weekend my parents come to visit and i am jumping out of my skin excited. I can't wait to show them where i live, the city, the mountains, the little towns and my work place. I have seen them a lot this summer with the frequent and some times unplanned trips back east, but there is never too much visiting for me.
Ok, gotta get back to work.. look for some picture posts this weekend. I got a bunch of Flaming Lips i want to share and other photos that haven't made their way up here in a while. I used to post photos with every entry... well i will give you one good blast this weekend. Be on the lookout and have a great weekend.

Look at what the cat dragged in....

So, i wasn't sure what i was going to write about today. I can tell you that there is a guy here at work that likes to sing crappy songs so they get stuck in my head and today it is that Cold December song. As i am typing this it is playing in the background in the dub room UGH!!!!

ok, so i was emailing with my sister this morning and asking what to write about on my blog and her suggestion was kitty cats. At first i was taken a back because i don't fully like cats. No offense to all those feline lovers out there, but i am not one of them. I am a dog girl though and though.
The first thing that came to mind is "i wonder if there is anyone on the planet left that calls them pussys? i mean, that isn't the best word to use to todays vocabulary, but pussy cat always made me chuckle. I think my dad would call them that at times, but not often and not since my sister and i had become teenagers. Just not appropriate any more.

Then a few minutes ago, i was sitting here at work, wishing that is horrible song would end, and the IT guys were talking about something and one said to the other, "if you do that i think Paul is going to shit kittens". Now that made me laugh and the visual is great. We both said that we would love to see that on YouTube... funny...

I grew up with a cat named Spice. He was a good cat. My mom had a story of when we lived in an old house, spice would knock on the upstairs bedroom window in the night to be let in. One night, she went to the window and let the cat in except it wasn't the cat that came in but an Opossum... seriously!!!! i was very young, but i know the story well... One more reason not to own a cat.

And the last cat story i have is that my boyfriend had a cat when we first got together. He was a good cat and i didn't have any problems getting along with the cat. It actually acted more like a dog and the dog that we have that lived with the cat acts more like a cat, but i digress. So, one night, he let the cat out like normal, but didn't hear his asking to come back in. that was the last we saw that Mr. Kitty, I was starting to call him Mr. Chuckles. maybe he didn't like it.

It cracks me up when you see "Missing Cat" posters up in the mountains. are you kidding me??? If that cat didn't come back that night, it is gone. No one took it, no one is housing it and waiting to see your poster. There are mountain lions, coyotes and bears; common, if you think your little pet kitty lasted more than one second after being spotted by any of these animals then you are delusional. sorry..

the moral of the story is Colorado is not the best state to own a cat. and there you have it, sis...
:)

If you could blow up the world with the flick of a switch... Would you do it?

What would you do...
with all your power..

Ok, so, if you are not sure what these lyrics are I will tell you. The Flaming Lips came to red rocks this past weekend. this was the second time I have seen Flaming Lips at that venue. They were great, again. but this time instead of starting all the balloons at the stage and kicking them into the crowd, the litterly poured green balloons all over the crowd from the top of the venue. very cool. I have never seen a band pour stuff over the crowd.
They are all dressed up and have fans flank the stange dressed and santas and aliens that just dance on the sides. Wayne Coyne (pronounced: Coin) has a smoke machine he plays with, confetti guns, confetti cannons and stuff that he usually plays with all show.
We ahd press credentials and got to shoot pictures of the show, well first three songs from the pit. And those were the only songs that he played with any confetti and stuff. After the first three, we went back a ways to get a good view of the stage and the city in the distance, and not another handful of confetti was tossed. strange. But at least all my photos have confetti in them.

My family will be pleased to know that i go to the doctors tomorrow for a physical. I will have updates news on my personal well being in a few days... keep your fingers crossed for me that i am healthy and breathing tomorrow..

waiting is the hardest part.

So, i flew back west on Tuesday night. I got to the airport in Richmond and all was good. I was sad to say good bye to my mom and step-dad, but i know they will be out visiting me soon.
I got to Chicago. got some McDonald's because i was starving and didn't want mancu wok. I got my food, found my gate and had a seat. The board was showing the flight on time to leave at 9pm. With in a few minutes a saw a few people get up and start walking around. I looked at the board again and the time had changed to a departure time of 9:35. Not too bad since it was getting closer to 8PM at this point. I figure a few more minute was all it was.
I started watching Flushed Away. Cute movie by teh makers of Wallis and Garamet, which i love. So, i thought it was getting close to start hearing the boarding procedures. I looked at the board again and the flight was changed to a 9:55 boarding time. Ok, more delays but not getting upset yet. I got tired of the movie, and decided to take a walk to get my blood flowing again.
when i got back from my jaunt to gate H10 and back, the time had changed again. this time 10:00.
Well the airport lardy came on the loud speaker and said, we are going to try to board you in about 10 minutes but maintenance is looking over the plane. Not what you want to hear when about to take this large piece of metal into the air.
About a half a second later a maintenance person shows up, talked to the airport lady and then returns down the jet way. This didn't look good either.
We were finally told that we would be leaving from another gate, in another terminals and to go there now. When we got to the new gate, we were told that we would be boarding in 30 minutes.
So for a flight that was supposed to take off at 9pm, we finally left the airport at 11PM.
ugh.

Good day sunshine

well the day that i have been dreading since my father passed away a year and a half ago, has come. My mom called me yesterday to tell me that my grandfather has passed. The heavens have got a new saint in the house. He is the most patient, generous, kind, caring, did i mention patient man i have ever known. My grandfather has set my standards for men and to be honest, no one i have dated previous or presently holds a candle to my grandfather. He is a true gentleman at the very sense of that word.
I will be gone all weekend back east to be with my family and extended family.
I love you Poppop!!!!!!

Sing a new song....

So the new iPod was introduced. It appears to be simular to the new iPhone but without the phone and camera. But you can still access the internet, so i guess you can just download straight from the internet and not your computer. I don't know who you would have to get your internet through, though...
I have been trying to add a picture of it, but i can't get it to load on this computer at work, so i will try and update this when i get to my mac at home...
Now, i read the stats on this new beauty, and it is only about as big as the iPod nano. So i am not even thinking about turning mine in yet. I have over 7,000 songs, 5 or 6 full length movies and about 5 tv shows, not to mention the 250 photos i still have on there...
Nope, not giving mine up yet.
You should be able to see new iPod news on the right on this screen, below my weather girl.

If it looks like rain....

Happy September everyone.. Today is the 4th, but who's counting..
So, we are only days away from the full on Autumn season. Time to put the bathing suits away, the swimming pool gear and all the hoses for grass watering.
I like this time of year. Fall and Spring are my favorites. I think in the Spring you are just waiting for the first day of not wanting to wear your jacket and for the Fall i am just itching to pull it back out. (or maybe spring for a new one)
Well before we get into cold weather talk, lets talk about Labor day weekend..
Hope everyone had a safe one.
Mine was a little less than desired, but i wanted to get the sofa cleaned and do my laundry and both those things did get accomplished. As well as my least favorite task in the world. See my boyfriend delivers this music magazine around Denver every friggen month. he gets a little money for it, but not much. So, every month i get roped into driving him around so it is easier for him to get in and out of the car and not having to park legally to make the drops.
It is my least favorite task because all the deliveries are in pain in the ass places and it usually intales me making a wrong turn, getting yelled at and then cussing in my head for the rest of the trip.
Well this month, we stretched it out to three days of delivering. By the second day i was SOOOO over it. but we were going to see a band that i don't like that night at Red Rocks. If you have read any other of my posts you would know that i am kind of sick of that venue. and especially now. So, we did the deliveries, i got yelled at and we went to the show. Well dont you know that it rained from the frist second we stepped foot in the venue (no, you cant re-enter) and didnt stop for over an hour. I had some rain gear, but it was all water resistant, not water proof, so i got wet. and cold and was even crying at one point that i didn't even want to be there, hated the band and way over the venue. Needless to say it stopped and the band did play. i didn't like it and will be sure to remember that before i get a free ticket. so, yes, even with a free ticket i will not be seeing them again.
So, here i sit at work, with my throat getting scratchy, coughing more regularly than this morning and feeling like i could take a long sleep..
so, off to rest and see you all tomorrow
Snack time was Otter Pups, the frozen tubes of sugar water.. i had a cherry. figured the sugar would help me though the rest of this day.
