Keep checking back...

So, i have tried to upload a video for your enjoyment. It is taking a lot longer than expected and I have to go to work. I will get getting off early, since it is dumping snow, so i should be able to get it up in a few hours. Keep checking back for my newest project:)

A puzzeling adventure

It is completely snowing again here. After a total white Christmas (it snowed from sun up till about 10pm) we are starting to get the hang of shoveling and driving in the white stuff.
For a Christmas gift I got this Simpson's mosaic type puzzle. Each piece has about three to six different pictures on it but it comes with a "poster" map of it, so it makes it a little bit easier. This will take me a while to complete and so I thought it would be fun if i video taped it and then speed it up. Yeah, my life is just about that exciting.
But anyway, here is my boarder.

Hope you enjoyed that. I continued to work on it last night, but changed the framing so there is less of me and more of the puzzle.
have a great snowy late December day.

It's the right time to rock the night away.

Well it wont be the first time that i was wrong about getting snow in Denver. It started about 2:00 yesterday afternoon and ended a little after 5. The highs are not supposed to break 30 today. And it looks like we might get some flurries on Christmas.
Since it is so cold, i thought i would share a few more photos of Jamaica.
Enjoy...

Why oh why??

OK, tell me this. Why do people say "hey, let's not get each other gifts this year and do something special after the holidays" when they know darn well they are going to get a gift for that person anyway??
Last night my boyfriend and I were watching TV and i saw a commercial for something and said, that is neat. And that started the conversation about Christmas gifts. I said, I feel weird not giving each other a gift this year and he told me that he had some things to give me. When i asked him why he said not to give gifts and then goes and gets a gift he just said, well i couldn't not get it for you.
So now i am looking for a gift for him. We we're going to do this. If we were. i would have prepared as i have done every other year, but this one we said we weren't going to. UGH, men!!!!
I tell you. But if that is my biggest problem right now, i think i am doing ok.

The weather is turning here but i don't think we are going to get any snow in Denver proper. The mountains are getting hammered, but we really need it. So, i say bring it on.
I am very much looking forward to this weekend. I will be cleaning up all the crap we just dumped on the floor when we got back from Jamaica and have since been stepping over it this whole week. It is time to straighten up again. We are going out Saturday night, i think, but not tonight. I have to catch up on my TV shows.
Speaking of TV shows did you all see that Big Brother is coming to the winter line up on CBS. I can't even tell you how excited it am about that. This is one of my favorite shows and thought it stunk that it only was on in the summer. But now we get to watch more crazy people all winter too. SWEET!!!
I have completely stopped watching what i am eating now that i have a few months again to make sure i am in bikini shape by next summer. This morning my co-worker told me that he brought in some treats that his wife had made. I scooped up two peanut butter cookies with the Hershey's kiss on top and a real turtle. Well not "real" turtle, but the kind with no cookie, but only caramel and chocolate. YUM. I also got a bag of Ghirardelli chocolate squares from another co-worker. So, i am not going to deprive myself. Why should I. I will rejoin the masses at the gym come the first of the year. But i think i am going to go and just sit i the hot tub this weekend. Again, why not. I deserve it. I mean i type my little fingers to the bone all day (ok, sometimes all day- OK, sometimes a little a day) but i digress. I think a nice dip for me is in order. There's nothing like a dip in th community hot tub with sweaty old men. :)
enjoy that visual..

Making a list and checking it twice.

I have finished my Christmas shopping for my family back and east and sent the package on. I hope everyone likes what i got them. It was fun to pick gifts for people. My boyfriend and I went shopping a few days ago, when we got back from Jamaica. I really like Christmas shopping when it is low volume, and we went at a very low volume time. We were at the mall about an hour before it closes and headed over to Toys R us about 10:30. I was surprised to see that there were families in TRU at that time. But i got everything i needed and the box was packed up last night.
So, before i got the chance to start wrapping, my boyfriend asked it i wanted to ride with him to see some house Christmas lights so he can take some pictures for the paper that will be printed today. I said sure. There was a light competition in the town he covers so we wanted to see the winners. To be honest, there were some that i was disappointed in. But when we got to the last few houses on the winner tour, they got better. I can't believe some of the work people put into this season and holiday. Some people are crazy. And i can only assume they can afford the electricity bill.
So, when we got home, i wrapped everything and hit the sack. I am still really tired from the trip and am very much looking forward to one day this week that we don't have to go anywhere as well as a great weekend of doing a whole bunch of nothing.. HECK YEAH!!

Back to life, back to reality... Back to the here and now again...

Ok, well that was one quick trip to the Caribbean and back. But it was a great trip. So, we got there a little late due to mechanical problems on a plane coming to Miami from Costa Rica. So, we had missed the first two sets by Disco Biscuits by the time we got there. But we got there, and checked into our room at the Breezes. it was a nice room. Two queen beds and a nice bathroom. When we checked in we went into the Disco before we hit the room to grab a drink. We started with Whiskey. So, after quickly changing clothes and heading back to the disco to grab a few more drinks and then grab the shuttle over the Hidonism, where all the shows were and the large stage set up. We quickly found some friends and got oriented to the layout of that resort. We stayed there with Umphree's McGee until about 4am, when the show ended.
We didn't want to miss one valuable minute in Jamaica, so we set the alarm for about three hours later, and jumped out of bed when the alarm went off. We got on our bathing suits, and hit the beach. After grabbing a few more drinks(absolute and Pineapple) and some towels we got two beach chairs and proceeded to enjoy some sun time. We did some swimming, some eating and some drinking. then went back to the room for a little two hour power nap before dinner. The people at the resort seems really pleased with the group and they were having fun as well. The local drug dealers were funny. They would swim up to you because there was some "security" to keep them off the beach. They would ask in their accents. "You need some green, mon?", You want some coke, ecstacy, mon". funny, we just say no and they go away. We heard some some folks that saw a deal go down said that the guy would swim up with a snorkel and they swim away, then come back and give you what ever you wanted in a triple baggie system to keep things dry. Too funny... But i guess everyone needs to make a living.
Anyway, that night we had dinner at Hido and it wasn't very good. On top of the not so great food, there was the Resort's entertainment and OH MY GOD, for one they were TOO LOUD, especially for dinner. We had dinner with a friend from Oregon and could barely hear her while she was sitting less than two feet from me. We stuck around that resort for the two sets f each band. That night i think we got to bed about 4:30. We got up to the sound of the breakfast cart we ordered being delivered about 8:00. We wanted to grab a bite and head out to Ocho Rios for some shopping. We split a cab with some guys from Upstate NY to Dunn's River Falls and a few shopping places. My boyfriend and I wanted to go to a local market, but the cabbie didn't fully understand and kept taking us to tourists places. But we got what we needed and saw the falls. We took a bunch of pics there. We didn't climb it, but it looked fun.
We came back, threw on our swimming suits again and went to the autograph session with the bands that were playing. With my boyfriend being a photographer for live bands, we have tons of good pics of these particular bands from over the years. We took some really great ones and had all the boys sign them, then hit the pool for a drink and some sun before showering and changing for dinner. This time we made reservations at the hibachi Asian restaurant at our resort. It was a great dinner and our chef was funny and entertaining. We had sake bombs with him. Fun all around. Then we went back to the room, got some stuff together and headed back over to Hedo for the show. Saturday night was just Disco Biscuits and then a smaller band played the 2am to 5am set. We left about 4 again. Great night of music, the bands were on...
Sunday we arose to the sinking feeling that we were having the leave after the shows that night. So we quickly donned out bathing suits once again. We went to all the pools and had drinks, took pictures and signed up for a snorkeling excursion that afternoon. (another reason to get lasik). We got some sun that day, and my boyfriend still has a lobster chest. We ate Jerk chicken from the grill and consumed our weight in mango and Bob Marley daiquiris. (red, yellow and green-of course). After the day's activities, we changed really quickly and jetted over to Hedo to try and take some pictures in the day light. Only had time to take a few and we headed back over to Breezes for dinner, as the food was much better over there. After dinner we packed our bags, got most stuff together for our early morning departure and went back to hedo for the shows. Umphrees and The Eggman. Both two-set shows were great. The bands were having a blast and so were all us freaks. After the shows we headed back to Breezes, picked up our gear and headed to the shuttle to the airport.
So, of course we get there at 6 for an 8am departure. We stand in line only to hear that the flight is cancled and we are now spending the day in the Montego bay airport. We could have slept, eaten, spent the day around the pool, but NO..... after we got YELLED AT by the customer service rep for not putting our selves in her shoes, she makes other arraignments for us to fly out at 4:30 on a delta flight. I can tell you that not even 5 minutes after my boyfriend gets our new tickets in hand, they cancel the original flight (the 4:30, 5:55 flight) completely. They were giving hotel vouchers to people to have to stay the night. We were never so glad to get home. Not that we wouldn't have taken another day in Montego Bay or Jamaica in general, but not two days at the airport. No thanks..
But all in all it was good, too fast and well needed. Although since we got NO Sleep, we are still draggin ass, but i am not complaining about that.

My Jamaican vacation is gonna start right here...

...if the phones for me
You can tell 'em I've just sailed away
...
Pour me somethin' tall and strong
Make it a hurricane before I go insane
It's only half past twelve, but I don't care
It's five o'clock somewhere

Ok It's a bit of an obvious choice for song lyric title, but hey i never said i was original or liked to work hard.
But that's about right. It is 12:40 here at work and my head is already on the airplane to Montego bay.

Well here's the culmination of the day. I went to the grocery store to get some soup for lunch. It is a high of 24 degrees and today is a soup day. So, i take the time to find some healthy soup with all the right stuff and non of the bad. It took me about 15 minutes to decide on one. I go through the check out, get back to work and as i am picking up the can from the passenger seat i realize that I don't have a can opener. Nothing!!! So, here i sit, with no lunch and a spent lunch break.. I hope there is something really good for sack today.

See you when i get back. I will have some photos to share. Enjoy your snow and ice and cold. I will be sitting on the beach, with an umbrella-ed drink in my hand and sand in my toes.

It's been a hard day's night.

Hey all, so we are leaving in two, yeah count them, two days!!!! this is awesome. We are both super excited but my boyfriend's work is so crazy that he had not had the time I have had to get really excited. Each day when i am on the treadmill i am thinking about walking in the sand in Jamaica. I hope that we have some good weather. The ten day out look for that area looks like it should be ok. Today and tomorrow i think they are getting the end of the hurricane, (yeah, i know, this is strange) to pass by and then going to be beautiful for our stay. I know it will be great.
They are having an autograph signing so my boy friend, being the photog that he is, has years of pictures of both these bands through the years. So he was pulling out some to print and get signed when we are there. Right now we have a bunch that we got signed on Jam Cruise a few years ago hanging in our hallway leading to the bed rooms. We have karl Denson, Keller Williams (who will also be in Jamaica), Micheal Franti from Spearhead. Les Claypool, I think there is a kyle from SCI. Geeze, i walk by these photos each day and i can't even tell you what they are. That is sad. But either way we will be returning with more to frame and hang.
Tonight i am trying to talk myself into going to the gym and not staying in the warm house and packing all my stuff. Last night i put that chore off thinking it was going to snow all day and I wouldn't be able to get around tonight. But it has stopped snowing. the sun is out, so most of the road should be clear and i shouldnt have much of an issue getting to the gym. UGH.. DAMN.
When i get back from Jamaica, i will cut back on how much i go, but for right now, i think i should keep going and that means going tonight.. UGH.. But it will all be worth it in two days when i am on the beach in my bathing suit... OK, just typing that motivated me to go to the gym. gotta go.. not skipping today.
So, snack time was string cheese and salted peanuts.
I passed on the cheese, taking the peanuts home to my boyfriend, came back to my desk and had a half of an apple (Jamaica in 2 days).
Later mon...

Completely speechless

OK, so i have nothing to say but three days and i will be in the sun. It is supposed to snow more tonight into tomorrow morning. We got, maybe 4-6 inches saturday and they are calling for about that same amount to fall tomorrow.
Three days...
It better not snow on thursday but they are already calling for some. Just hope it doesn't delay the planes or cancel them all together. We will get to Jamaica one way or another.
Almost time to leave work and hit the gym. Then this evening i am going to put my clothes in my backpack and make sure everything fits in it. You don't need a lot of space for a bathing suit, do you?
Snack time was Gardetto's snack mix. That will go home with me for a snack on the trip.
have a great monday.

Well, the weather outside is frightful.

I think winter has started for us. According to the weather people the mountains are getting between 1 and 3 feet before the end of the weekend. Every time i hear that i am SOOO glad that i am not living up top (colorado lingo for 'in them hills') any longer and am down below (colorado lingo for flat lands). Not bad. I think we are going to get some rain, but i doubt we will see much snow yet.

This weekend we have a little bit of things to do. We have to finish decorating the christmas tree. Then we need to pull out the summer clothes and get them in the washer and dryer and then packed safely in the backpacks for next week. All the sun spray (we are from Colorado after all) and things like that. I pulled out my passport last week and set it on my desk with my iPod cables. Both very important for this trip.
We are going to a christmas tree lighting tonight and then to a tuba christmas presentation. Over 130 tubas playing christmas carols. I can't miss that. I might even share my video if it is good.
But that's about it. I am ready to start the weekend.
Snack time was individual snack bags of Chex Mix.. Holiday cheer... :)

I'm a wanted man, Because I'm a.... wanted man.. yes i am...

So, if there were a lynch team at work, i would have gotten the noose today.
Last night we had a great dinner, It was so good that i brought left overs to work for lunch. Well i stunk up the whole office. I had no idea that a fish lunch would cause such a raucous, but i guess i should have known. :) hehehe. So, i work all the time with headphones on. Even if i am not working on a tape, like now, i am updating my blog, i have my headphones on. So, after i heated up my lunch and brought it back to my seat, i can start hearing people saying things, "Whoa, what's that smell" " Holy cow, what is that??" etc. I just smiled with my fork in my hand and listened. But when they said that it could be smelt all the way to the front of the building, i put it away. I am not sure if anyone knew it was me, but needless to say, I am still hungry because i didn't get to finish my stinky lunch. :(
Snack time was Ritz cheese and crackers. Bringing some home to my boyfriend.
7 days until I am on a jet plane.
That's all for today. It rained all morning , it was sunny all afternoon and is supposed to snow tonight or tomorrow.. Typical Denver weather. It will be nice to see some snow before heading down to Jamaica, but i don't need to see it the day we fly out. I will be happy if it comes this weekend and is gone by monday, Thursday at the latest.
I will leave you with some wise words to ponder for this Thursday..

Nothing you need to know.

OK, so i am soooo not in the mood to work today. I don't know what it is about the day, but i feel so low energy and not one ounce of motivation. Today i have been surfing on bored.com and found this little number...
http://www.bored.com/warpcelebs/mark_cuban.htm
If you put your mouse over his face and drag in any direction it distorts it.. very funny.
But maybe not so funny because he signs my paychecks.. Ok, still funny.
There are also a number of things you can do on this site.. You can actually watch paint dry. But i found these little bits of information not useful at all and thought maybe you all might enjoy them.

If you think that I smell, A male emperor moth can smell a female emperor moth up to 7 miles away.

A Michigan law states that a wife's hair legally belongs to her husband.

If you are ever in the desert, it is good to know that
A vulture will never attack a human or animal that is moving.

According to bar sales across the U.S., here are the top 15 cocktails: 1) Dry martini, 2) Manhattan, 3) Whiskey sour, 4) Bloody Mary, 5) Gimlet, 6) Daiquiri, 7) Tom Collins, 8) Old Fashioned, 9) Margarita, 10) Screwdriver, 11) Bacardi, 12) Stinger, 13) Harvey Wallbanger, 14) Gin & Tonic, and 15) Rum & Coke, and now this is my challenge while in Jamaica. I think i can do it :)

and just to make sure i end on a high note:
Cockroaches can live for nine days without their heads, at which point they die of starvation. and I think whether they have heads or not, they "break wind: every 15 seconds.

Happy Wednesday.
(Snack was Icee Freezes, I had a cherry.

11 days and counting...
So, Monday again. Sorry for the lite postings last week. I just didn't have it in me. But i am back on it this week. I've only got 11 days then off to the beach for a little fun and Umphrees McGee and Disco Biscuit party.
I have really been watching what i eat and using this website that gives you meal plans for trying to lose weight and it is working. I have to get back into that bikini in 11 days so i might as well try. Well last night i was measuring out " serving" of the soup we had and was telling my boyfriend that i can't wait to have three desserts each night, just because i can. He laughed at me measuring my soup and talking about over eating in Jamaica. I have really enjoyed these meal plans and they are totally helping, so i am not going to go totally crazy, and will continue when i get back. but when i am there, i can't go nuts for every calorie my whisky and cokes have or the Mango daiquiri with the little umbrella etc. But i can't wait to wake up and sit on the beach, then have some lunch, little nap, little swim, little dinner and two HUGE SHOWS!!! I have been talking about it all weekend.
I am sure that by tomorrow i will not have much left to say and will start talking about other topics, but for now that is what is on my mind.
So, this past weekend was a fast one for me. On Saturday we delivered these music magazines that we devilver each month. This is the first, so we had deliveries. I am just glad it was on a weekend. The weekday months SUCK> But we spent a lot of the day doing that, then just came home and watched a bunch of TV and laid on the sofa. It was soooo Cold.
Sunday my boyfriend had to cover an event at the Local St. Joesph's hospital. I guess the nuns that volunteer there are HUGE Bronco fans and they watch each sunday religiously,, he he get it??? anyway one Sunday a year they throw this big party for them, basically. Just showing that they are fans. i think. But anyway i got talked into going and there was some food, drink, nuns dressed in their bronco attire and a large projection of the game. It was fun. We thanked the nuns for the glass of wine on a Sunday at the hospital and left. The reason i got talked into going to the nun event is (#1) my boyfriend said that since i went to a catholic high school i shouldn't have any problem going, (yeah didn't make since to me either) and (#2) if i went then we could go to the free day at the science museum. That reason worked for me.. So, we went to the science museum. that was fun.
That's about it for me. Time to get back to work i guess.
Happy monday to all.

Is there a place for the hopeless sinner,

Well Bob Marley asked the question, and i have the answer...

The Caribbean Holidaze. It is a Super-inclusive trip to Jamaica with a few bands that my boyfriend and i really love to see. They are not above Panic for me, but I guess i can say that i would travel to Jamaica to catch a few shows.
So, we leave December 13th to the 17th. Flying back will be so hard, but for what we are doing, i am super excited. So, in order to get a cheap(er) flight, we are changing planes a number of times, but still get into Montigo Bay at 8:05 on that Thursday. We get picked up from the airport and taken to the Breezes Resort of Runaway Bay. The group that we are going with has the whole resort reserved, so there will be no one but silly hippie freaks on the beach and in the bars and eating at the restaurants. The Trip cost includes all meals, (even the late night buffet that goes on all night) all drinks, YUP, that's right.. including the mimosa i will be ordering every morning by room service. If that is not enough, then all of our water sports and land sports are included (snorkeling, kayaking, towels, beach chairs etc- as well as a 18 hole golf course and tennis). Then on top of all that we get two full sets from both Umphres McGee and Disco Biscuits!!! SO EXCITING. Now, if you are saying to yourself, Wow, that is a big trip, wonder why she hasn't mentioned this before is because we only found out we were going like MONDAY!!- here's the short story.
We looked at this trip when it was first announced at the start of the summer. My boyfriend and i both decided that it was too spendy and that we didn't have the disposable cash that it took to do this (it is not too expensive, but for our money situation, it was not a reality).
So we never thought of it again.. To be honest it was totally off my radar. I knew Jam cruise was coming up, but forgot all about Caribbean Holidaze. So, a friend calls Monday night (now given i just got back from the east coast and still have not unpacked my bag) and I can only hear my boyfriend's part of the conversation and as i said i was really only thinking of Jam Cruise (similar to this trip but on a boat, we did that two years ago). So, my boyfriend gets off the phone and said, well that was an interesting call. I said yeah, sounds like he has an extra for jam cruise, you thinking about going..? Of course i was sad thinking he would want to go on this awesome vacation with a friend. And he said No, it's the Caribbean Holidaze. Immediately i was interesting because i like these bands better than the ones on the boat. So, i asked again, so you thinking about going?
He said, well he has a whole room, He can't go, his roommate for the trip backed out and he has a whole room (read two reservations) and "he wants us to go have fun in his room" well then reality hit me and i said, but we don't have the cash for the trip. And my boyfriend clarified that our friend has already been charges, no refunds and doesn't want us to pay him back... WHAT??? you mean that this guy wants to give us a Jamaican vacation with two of our favorite bands and 798 of our new closest friends. There was not a hesitation in my response when i said "when do we leave?". We got online and got a couple of plane tickets, changed to reservation names and we are headed to Jamaica in two weeks.. AMAZING.
We are staying in the Breezes resort at Runaway Bay if you want to look up what we get to do and see.. or just checkout this link to the trip.

OH MY GOD, I CAN'T WAIT!!!!
(especially when waking up to 18 degrees)
Later mon :)

Tell me baby why you been gone so long, been gone so long.

Sorry to leave everyone hanging for the last ferw days but I have been gone to the east coast for the holiday weekend. I didn't mention anything on my blog, because, although she may not visit everyday, my mom does stop by and this trip was a surprise for her.
My dad and i planned my trip and kept quiet for weeks to pull it off. And it worked. She didn't have a clue i was coming and i scared the living crap out of her when we picked her up from a shopping excursion and i was hidden in the back seat. She screamed so loud then was really excited. It was fun to get her good...
The next one to fool was my sister. She didn't know either. Her wedding anniversary happened to fall on Thanksgiving this year. She got one f those awesome touch iPods, she was so excited she called me. My boyfriend answered the phone and said i wasn't there. That stirred her suspicion, but when i called her right back, i tried to easy her curiosity by telling her that i was standing in snow and that i was certain i was in Denver. The next day when she and her family arrived at my mom's for dinner, i came out of the garage and scared her too. She was really happy to see me as were the kids.
What fun that was. and Thanksgiving dinner was great. We had a blast hanging out and talking. We did some shopping on Friday. There were a ton of people out, but we got a lot of what we were looking for. We weren't the crazy ones lining up at best buy at noon on thanksgiving, so it could have been hit or miss.
I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgivne and a good trip back from where ever it was you ate.
I am back and in full swing, so keep checking back, more posts to come.

Squeezes for everyone

Today is a sad day in my Televison history memory.. Mr. Whipple, (Dick Wilson) is squeezing the big toilet paper roll in the sky. So, we are free to squeeze as much as you would like with no threat of some fussy, anal retentive store owner yelling at you for testing the squishyness of the Charmin.

I like short weeks at work. I was telling my boyfriend that today feels like a Wednesday/Monday. And then tomorrow will be a Thursday/Tuesday.

This past weekend we went to an old hotel here in Denver called the Brown palace. They had a cascade of champaign glasses, a master swordsman to cut the tops off of some champaign bottles and they lit their massive chandileer in the entryway. My boyfriend had to go for some Holiday pictures for his newspaper. I took along my video and got some shots of the event. I also got smacked in the head by a shattering champaign bottle that erupted in the swordsman's hand. I will try to get some of that video up for you to see. But the glass cascade was made of 6, 022 glasses. That was pretty impressive. Then some dancers from the Colorado ballet did a very small performance from the Nutcracker. That was enough for me.
Last christmas time my boyfriend got some free tickets to the Ballet doing the Niutcracker. We lasted a lot longer than i thought and snuck out at the first break. So, now i feel i got my fill of Nutcracker for this season.
Thats all for now.. have a great afternoon. I will be hitting the gym and then i think we are making home made pizza tonight

OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD!!!
ICE CREAM SANDWICHES FOR SNACK!!!!!!!

Keep On With The Force Don't Stop, Don't stop till you get enough.

That is what i was listening too while doing my reps on the weight machines( Michael jackson, from the blog title). It is amazing what i find on my iPod every time i turn it on. This past summer, while we were going though Cali and Oregon (remember that trip?) anyway we wanted to listen to a book on my ipod, but i had copied it from the library so it went into my music folder under the authors name. In order to listen to the book from beginning to end we had to turn off the shuffle. Here i am, at least three months later and we can't figure out how to get the overall shuffle back on. We can find the song, album shuffle, but i have no idea how to get it to shuffle between albums, artists and songs. I can shuffle an album but not the whole iPod, you dig? so, this has been very frustrating for my walking in the afternoons. Now, instead of just letting the music flow, i have to choose an artist, then make sure i have more than an albums worth to get me though the whole cardio time. If not then i have to think and choose something else while i am at full sweating capacity and thinking is the last thing i want to be doing. Plus i am not the best decision maker as it is, and making these decisions after a single song is WAY to much, but i digress. Anyway, i have mostly been listening to Mika, who i have given you many glimpses at over the last two weeks and while i am a the weight machines i look though my ipod for other things to listen to. I found Micheal Jackson but will always think of String Cheese Doing "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough"

I got my flu shot the other day. I don't think i need it but the people I work around all got theirs and were telling me that if i got them sick this winder i would pay for it. Now that i think about it, if they all got flu shots, they wouldn't get sick anyway... Damn, i got suckered.. but i guess i will be healthy though this winter.. There go my plans of calling in sick for a week and watching Judge Judy for eight days straight.

This weekend we will be around the house a lot but my boyfriend has some places that he want's to go shoot photos for the newspaper he works for. I think we will be hitting up the Botanical Gardens here in Denver as well as some other photo ops. Then it is all resting and laundry. I know, exciting... But our exciting weekend days are winding down or the music coming though isn't worth our cash. OK, i will say it is the later rather than admitting i may be getting old(er).

Have a great weekend where ever that maybe. and remember next week is a short work week so we can all stuff our faces and watch football and feel like this hedgehog . I love America!!!!

See you then.

Black Friday

I know it is many days away.. over a week even, but i am ready for Black Friday. Yesterday my boyfriend showed me a site that lists every sale that will be going down on Black Friday.
Since my camera was stolen, I have been looking to replace it. I also have had my eye on a Garmin or TomTom GPS devise as i get lost driving out of my driveway sometimes. That will be a useful tool for me to have. These are not cheap items and i don't make a ton on money, so i need to get them for a less than retail price. It looks as if Best Buy will have my GPS for an unreasonably low price. I am still trying to find a good price on my Nikon D40X, but that will come in time.
We have mapped all the places we want to go and all the sales we want to hit.
What are your thanksgiving plans and will you be shopping on Black Friday?
If you need to see what you will want here is the link to the page we were using yesterday..
happy bargain hunting.

I was looking for another video to show you and i came acorss this live version of "My Interpretation" I like the lyrics and in the right mood they make me laugh.

It's all in a name

There is a music blog i read daily. It is called Hidden Track and they have a bunch of great info but also they do some very fun articles and stuff. This one i saw today and thought it was great. The last time my folks were out here visiting i was talking to them about some of my favorite bands (widespread panic, String Cheese Incident, Grateful dead etc) and mom asked how some of these bands get their names. Well i went into, i am sure,a too long and detailed explanation to some of the better named bands, like the ones i mentioned. Today on Hidden track they were talking about some ablums that were submitted with titles that were rejected by the record companies.
These are their top 8 alternative titled albums. See if you agree.

Most of the time record companies don’t really care too much what a band names an album, but once in a while they put their proverbial foot down (perhaps their literal feet as well). A few weeks ago we looked at 10 albums released with controversial cover art, so this week we look at eight albums whose titles were rejected either by members of the band or the big bad record company…

1. Grateful Dead — Skullfuck:

The Grateful Dead submitted a live album to Warner Brothers in 1971 with the title Skullfuck. As you can imagine, the record company rejected the title, and instead decided to release the album with no title. Fans call this album Skull and Roses to avoid confusing it with the band’s eponymous debut.

2. XTC — Black Music:

XTC released their debut album, White Music, on Virgin Records in 1978. The band wanted to call the album Black Music but Virgin nixed the idea because they thought the title may suggest a blues or soul album. Racists!

3. Beastie Boys — Thick Like Beyonce’s Leg:

The Beastie Boys’ Mike Diamond stirred up some shit earlier this year when he told British Radio Station XFM that the band originally wanted the title of The Mix-Up to be Thick Like Beyonce’s Leg. How do you go from one the best titles of all-time to The Mix-Up? The old-school Beastie Boys never would have let that happen.

4. Eric Clapton — The Best Guitarist In The World: There’s One In Every Crowd:

In 1975 Eric Clapton tried to name his new album The Best Guitarist In The World: There’s One In Every Crowd as an answer to all of the people who called him “God.” Clapton commented on the situation in Conversations With Eric Clapton:

“[It was going to be called] ‘The Best Guitarist In The World - There’s One In Every Crowd’. They didn’t approve of that one either. I was the only one who thought it would be a good idea. In fact, I’m not sure whether I could have lived with it. Most people would have taken it the wrong way. They would have thought I was being serious. But I am! I am the best fucking guitarist in the world!!(Laughs)”

EC wound up dropping The Best Guitarist In The World part and released the mediocre There’s One In Every Crowd to minor commercial success.

5. Metallica - Metal Up Your Ass:

Metal Up Your Ass started out as the name of a live demo Metallica recorded in 1982. The band liked the title so much that they tried to use it as the name of their first studio album on Megaforce Records. Megaforce rejected both the name and the cover art that the band submitted, leading Metallica to rename the album Kill ‘Em All, which apparently was fine with the label. Confusing.

6. Nirvana - I Hate Myself and Want to Die:

Nirvana wrote I Hate Myself and Want to Die for inclusion on their third studio album. When the time came for Nirvana to name it, Kurt Cobain suggested I Hate Myself and Want to Die. Ironically, Cobain later decided against the title because he feared the sarcasm of the title would be lost on some fans and critics. Not only didn’t the title stick, but the song itself was cut from the album that eventually became In Utero. The track finally was released on the Beavis and Butthead Experience compilation just before Cobain hated himself enough to die.

7. Bryan Adams - Hasn’t Heard of You Either:

Believe it or not there was a time when people weren’t familiar with the name Bryan Adams. Adams’ debut album sold so poorly that the Canadian rocker decided to call his sophomore release “Bryan Adams Hasn’t Heard of You Either.” A&M considered the title “too provocative,” leading Adams to rename the album You Want It You Got It. Just a few short years later Adams would hit the big time by releasing an incredible string of hit records before jumping the shark in 1991 with the release of the super corny (Everything I Do) I Do It For You.

8. Alice In Chains - Tripod:

When we told Team HLA about this B List our buddy bl002e brought up Alice In Chains’ eponymous album from 1995. The cover art for the album features a three legged dog, leading most AIC fans to refer to this release as Tripod. We can’t really confirm that Alice In Chains actually intended to name the album Tripod, but we did come across a few websites say “originally titled Tripod" when talking about the album. If that works for Wikipedia that works for us.

Livin in America...

I was browsing though Youtube and came across an interview with James Brown, but he is tanked out of his mind.. Too funny.
I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Brown perform before he passed. It was a few years back and he opened for the String Cheese Incident in Steamboat Springs for 4th of July. He sang all the greats and was crazy dancing on stage. But really got me was that he spent over 80% of the show turned with his back to the audience. He would only turn around for the vocals that he had to sing, and then would turn back around and face the band. When he did turn around, it looked like he had had too much plastic surgery in his life or was completely botoxed out. Kinda freaky.
But he sang everything you would want to hear from James Brown and more.
In the spirit of the season, here is Mr. James Brown, drunk doing an interview after his release from jail for abuse charges against his wife.
too classic.
enjoy

Big Girls you are beautiful.

First, i would like to apologize for letting the blog get a day behind, but yesterday i was simply not up for it. I had nothing good to say and was grouchy, so as my mother tried to teach me, and i some times listened, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. That lesson usually slips by me, but yesterday i left all to be discussed at a later day... today.

So, yesterday my phone died. It was a quick passing, so no pain involved except for the pain my wallet will feel when i go to replace it later this week. It was beeping all night, like the battery was dying. Not a big deal it has happened before, but when i got to work and tried to plug it in to charge, a message that said "Unable to charge" come on it. I let it sit for a hour or so hoping it would fix itself. At lunch time i took it to the AT&T store. That's when the guy told me that my phone had seen it's last day. When asked what phone was a better phone than mine, he simply pointed to the store show room and said "everything we got". I looked around for about 30 seconds before i realized that they are all WAY to spendy at the store and will be searching elsewhere to get a new phone. That's the excitement of the hour. :)

Here is the story about the post headline. I was at the gym yesterday trying to get my walking done and it was hard. I mean a lot harder than last week. It felt like my legs were made of lead. I dialed my iPod to Mika and let 'er go. If you don't know Mika, it is understandable since he is a British singer, but i think he just got best new artist or something in England also. Press the play button (it's the arrow, mom) and have a good dance!!!

MIKA Lyrics
Big Girl (You Are Beautiful) Lyrics
For your reading pleasure i have included the lyrics so you can fully appreciate the song.
now get up and dance around because "Big Girls are BeautiFUL!!!!"

This video is so much fun and it made the rest of the workout a little better. I hope you enjoy this for a tuesday.

It's friday!!!!

This has got to be the longest week in history. I don't know if it is because we are usually into Daylights savings by now or what but this week has been soooo long. I have some plans this weekend, but i am mostly looking forward to not knowing it is 6am. Just letting the clock pass it by with no notification will be great. I guess i had some tossing and turning events in my sleep last night because i woke up with all the covers and my boyfriend clinging to the fringes of the blanket trying to keep something on top of him. I have no idea what i was dreaming about but it must have been good.
This week at work I have been watching tapes shot back around 2003 i would think. They are interviewing leaders of emerging political parties in Iraq and what they want and etc. There are some really neat shots of Shi'a Muslims gathering in Karbala for the Ashura or the National mourning of Imam Hessian's death some 1300 years ago. There were millions of people in this town all there to express their religion freely. Very moving at some points. To know that some of these people have never dreamed of celebrating is such an open way, and for others witnessing what they have always imagined it would be like. But it is also a little sad when there are interviews of soldiers that are speaking about being home in a few weeks and wondering if they even survived this occupation and got to go home, or if they have since been on several tours there by now.
Just makes you stop and think when you see some of this footage. I really had no idea what the war looked like until i started this job. There have been a few very hard days of watching death and destruction come to a nation. But it is fun to see some of the older men in Iraq with smiles and warm thanks to the troops as well as the children playing in the streets and laughing. They have no idea what is in their future or even their children's future.
Now for some fun stuff. We are cooking out pumpkin seeds tonight. We have been letting they dry the last two days and they are ready for the oven. I love snacking on pumpkin seeds. When Jeff first prepared them a few years ago, i was apprehensive, but after i got my first taste i have looked forward to this every halloween. If you like salty snacks, this is a great one.
And lastly, speaking of snacks, today was frozen fruit bars. I had a strawberry one.
Have a good and safe weekend.
Oh, I forgot one small story. So a few days ago i was in the bank and saw they were having a silent auction for a local high school. It was a bunch of Halloween treat items. Well i bid on a basket and forgot all about it. Today i was in there and they told me i had won the one i signed up on... So, now i have a ton more candy, YUMMM and a few really cute items, like a ghost candle holder a pumpkin candle holder and a halloween serving bowl. they are too cute, I will try to take a few pictures with my crappy little camera and show you.
Ok, now, have a great weekend!!!!

All the leaves are brown....

I am having some trouble thinking of a topic for today. My brain has officially turned off for the weekend already, I think. We went out to see Umphrees McGee last night and i have to say it was probably one of the better shows i have seen by them.
They had a large backdrop that looked like a haunted house with a projection screen i the center. They played slips from a lot of scary movies while playing to the intensity of the clips. Like they would pick several telling points of each film and do like a montage of the film all while playing to the scenes. Kind of hard to describe, but like when they did The Shining. When Jack's character is breaking down the door with the hatchet, they did the "Bam, Bam, Bam, with the swings of the hatchet, perfectly timed. It was great!!!
Today is the first day of "Hoy shit it's going to start getting cold" season. I need a new winter coat, but my old one will have to due for the time being. Seeing that i need to start saving to replace my camera. (Still sad about that)
Well since my post is so boring , i went to wikipedia and got some interesting facts about November 1st... My sister and I share a love of history, so this is for her...

1512- The ceiling of the Sistine Chapel painted by Michelangelo , is exhibited to the public for the first time.

1604 - William Shakespeare's tragedyOthello is presented for the first time, at Whitehall Palace in London.

1611 - William Shakespeare's romantic comedy The Tempest is presented for the first time, at Whitehall Palace in London.

1859 - The current Cape Lookout, North Carolina, lighthouse was lit for the first time. Its first-order Fresnel lens can be seen for about 19 miles (30 kilometers), in good conditions.

1861 - American Civil War: US President Abraham Lincoln appoints George B. McClellan as the commander of the Union Army, replacing the aged General Winfield Scott

1870 - In the Untied States, the Weather Bureau (later renamed the National Weather Service ) makes its first official meterologic forecast.

1918 - Malbone Street Wreck: the worst rapid Transit accident in US history occurs under the intersection of Malbone Street and Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn, New York City with at least 93 deaths.

1941 - American photographer Ansel Adams takes a picture of a moonrise over the town of Hernandez, New Mexico that would become one of the most famous images in the history of photography.

1951- American soldiers are exposed to an atomic explosion for training purposes in Desert Rock, Nevada. Participation was not voluntary.

1960- While campaigning for President of the United States, John F. Kennedy announces his idea of the peace Corps.

and to top it all off, today is World Vegan Day..
go eat some tofu and celebrate...

Just another Manic Monday

Well, there is the end. Red Sox swept us hard and bad. I don't want to say that we didn't try. I think we played great baseball and for the team's first visit to the big dance, we did alright. This will just give us the experience we need to win the next time we get there. And with this team, i think we will get there again. Now, we just have to keep our eye on for the trading and re-negotiating before Spring training.
So, my camera was stolen from my backpack at the bar I was watching the game at. I am so bummed. It wasn't a small little cheap thing, it was a Nikon for God Sakes. I can't believe that happened. Just makes me mad and then sad.

Many of you might be wondering if i have given up on the walking thing as i have not posted my pedometer reading in a while. Well it will please you to know that not only have i not given up walking, but i can even run at some points during my exercise. But i am also using the weight machines at the gym. I am starting to feel sore muscles and everything. That is very cool. I have taken the weekends off, but i am back at it this evening. I wish i could convince myself to go in the mornings so i will boost my metabolism all day, but i am still whiny about getting up early just for work, so to get up any earlier is just stupid for me. But at least i am going.

well, that's about it. Sorry Rockies, better luck next year. I am not a fair weather fan, and i will miss all the excitement that the Rockies brought to us this season and look forward to the next season.

We have Monday Night Football in town tonight. Broncos Vs. Packers.

Snack Time

Scoop yourself Ice cream, that's the snack. Most people like to make root beer floats or just drowned it in chocolate syrup.
I passed as to not be sick all night..

Take me home, country roads

And the Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
You can talk to God and listen to the casual reply
Rocky mountain high

I have to say that was a better game than the first one. Our defense was there and we actually hit the ball a few times. Holiday got on base four out of four at bats, but too bad he got a little too far and got picked off in the 8th. That sucked. He was our only hope at that time to score again and tie it up.
If you are from Boston or a Red Sox fan, then why are you reading this, but seriously, what the f**k is the deal with the Bull-pen noises. How annoying. And what's the deal with singing Neal Diamond? that is just wrong...

Atkins stepped it up at third. Usually those hits go straight to Tulo but they were hitting to Atkins and i bet surprised when they saw he has a cannon for an arm too. They can't beat the throw to first with Helton willing to go into the splits to catch the ball while still keeping his foot firmly on the first base. We can do it, i know we can. The fans this weekend will help the mile high boys catch one victory. And the Red Sox wont be able to breathe, so that will help too...
GO ROCKIES!!!
I am glad the boys are headed back home. The fans are ready. And to be honest, I think with the double loss, the ticket prices are starting to go down. I might just get really lucky and get a ticket for face value, that is my goal, but we will see.

(Pic explanation- The sox might have the green monster but we have Dinger- whoo-hoo... OK, yeah i know he is lame, but the Broncos and Nuggets already have Rocky, who was voted by SI as the best mascot in Pro ball...)

Snack Time

You guessed it, Animal Crackers for snack...

We take a licking and keep on ticking...

Well the boys in purple took an old fashioned beating as Todd Helton so elequantly put it after the game last night. That was painful to watch and really hard to keep hearing the announcers who are clearly from the East Coast and want Boston to win. All of their commentary was directed toward to Bloody Hose. But we will show them what Colorado is all about.
To be honest I am ok with the game last night. There was no way we could keep on winning and I am glad we got Beck(KKKKKKK)et out of the way. Now we can take it to the other pitchers they have coming. Jimenez will be pitching for us tonight and I think he can do a good job. Poor Frances. It must be really hard to only be 26, starting in your first World Series and you know that everything is riding on your shoulders.. Lots of pressure.
I was thinking last night while watching our other pitchers warming up that it has to suck to play that field for them. In our park, the bullpen and warm up area are right next to a nice fountain and some pretty pine trees etc. In Boston they had a cop stading there to keep people out. It is so Urban. I am looking forward to our boys being back home and in their park. That green monster SUCKS!!!
still working on tickets but watch for me on TV at game 3. (hey that rhymes)
My firend that has an awesome seat 10 rows behond home plate said that he would let me sit in his seat for an inning on Saturday if i get in.. I AM GOING TO GET IN!!!!
wish me luck and send good vibes to the ticket scalpers.
Not to mention with this loose, the ticket prices might fall dramatically.
Keep the Faith!!!
GO ROCKIES!!!

Snack Time

ICE CREAM SANDWICHES!!!
the best!!!!
Happy Wednesday everyone!!!

The tide is high but I'm holding on....

I am basically holding on to faith that i will get a ticket to at least one game. This morning the Rockies site had some tickets to sell, but i couldn't get my hands on even one... again. I am going to keep checking the website as credit cards are declined and some people get caught trying to buy more than 4 tickets at a time. Keep thinking good thoughts for me.

So, yesterday morning, both my boyfriend and I are getting ready to leave for work. He goes out the front door and about 30 seconds later is back in the front door kinda freaking out looking for the phone. I ask what's up and he tells me that someone tried to steal his car... WHAT??? being the nosey, no quite believing what i hear, i have to see for myself. Sure enough, someone had pulled his driver's window back, pulled the lock open and got in the car. They stripped the steering column out and left the ignition turny thing-y on the seat. We think they got interrupted or something because they didn't actually take the car...
So, this morning we had a police man come to our house and make the report.. Very scary and no one likes the idea that some stranger was right outside our home doing bad things..
icky...
We stationed all the dogs near windows last night to see if they bark at something. they didn't make a sound.
Reports and insurance issues to follow...

Sucky sucky suck suck

Well i got shut out.. I didn't get tickets though the team, so now i am starting to look in other directions..
I have a feeling i will be at home celebrating alone with some pizza and beer... just the way i want to spend my world series..
I know i am being a "sour grapes" but i am really upset. I was really hoping against hope that i would come away with one ticket to one game. But i am guessing that i won't be seeing the boys in purple playing the end of the season out.
This sucks and i am very sad. This will take some time for me to get over.
:(
Go Rockies, still!!!

The new word

Rockies World Series Ticket Onsale

This morning the Rockies' ticketing provider Paciolan experienced a system wide outage that is impacting all of their North American customers. They are working hard to resume service as soon as possible and apologize to their customers and all fans for this impact.

WOW!!! good job guys...
http://www.paciolan.com click the "contact us" link and let'er rip..
seriously???? comm'on...

SUSPENDED?????? are you kidding me...

OK, so WTF????
of course the servers failed...
I wish they would have talked to a music company or a national touring band on how to sell thousands of tickets on line and see how to see them without the servers failing.. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! i have seen more than 18,000 tickets on sale and gone in less than 20 minutes, why can't they sell them the same way though MLB??? and yeah only 18,000 tickets to be had by fans in a baseball stadium that holds roughly 60,000 people. Well they say that over 32,000 tickets are going to season ticket holders, players and sponsors. Boy i wish i knew a player now...:)
So, they have just announced that tickets are not being sold right now. That only a few hundred were able to be sold today and they will let us know when they are going to resume ticket sales.
I wonder how many people waisted their work day hitting refresh like i have :)
GO ROCKIES!!!!
I will update...

ROX and SOX

I will let you know how i do on getting tickets monday morning..
GO ROCKIES!!!

Cows on Film

Just a little ditty to see if i could put a video up. Well it took me all day, but i figured it out.
I do hope you enjoy my 'Cows on Film".

Birtha never ever talked too much, Had those television eyes

Sorry for the doubling up on the Rebirtha lyrics, but i just got an email from friend and apparently we freaks that can't get enough Widespread Panic aren't the only ones.
So last night the Indians and the Red Sox went at it again for the 6th game to see who will play the HOT ROCKIES in the World Series.
There must have been some major Panic fans working the music at the game because this is what went down at the inning breaks...

Surprise Valley - 1st inning break (this song has been a blog title for me "spirit move in all things")

Disco - 3rd inning break (this is an all instrumental otherwise I would have used anything from this wonderful song!!)

Action Man - end of the 5th inning (one of my favorites to see live and we did get in this past weekend " Fire inside, blaze of glory, space in time.... Hearts of gold, limbs of steel, man-of-war"

Surprise Valley - 6th inning game summary (again, they must really like it)

Thin Air – 7th inning break.(very appropriate seeing someone will be coming to the thin air, i guess after tonight's game...")

So keep your ears out, i am sure there will be more panic played tonight..

Well something else special happened today. I woke up a little early and Watson, my dog, wanted out. I let him out the back only to be greeted by falling snow. When i looked out it was only falling but nothing was sticking, but when i got up about 30 minute later to let him back in the grass was all white.

i don't expect it to stick around like last year as we are going to get back into the 70's next week, it is pretty to see and hopfully enough to scare those sox into loosing to the Indians.

Since it is snowing i got the fixins to make a slow cooker chili this afternoon and i also got a few pumpkins to carve while sipping beers and watching baseball.. LOVE THE POST SEASON!!!!

I also have some plans to put up some great pictures i took from my parent's visit a few weeks ago. There are some great pics i snapped that i would like to share. And one more goal for the day is to figure out the video on this thing so i can share some great stuff i have in that department too. Who knows you might be able to watch Panic playing Surprise Valley as i shot that song in Vegas this time last year...

Off form morning rituals :) and then my day can start..

Friday, October 19, 2007

She said, "I know a town where real life's a game

Baseball's all that's real
At night all the faces light up
As the HEROES take the field"

This is my mantra for the next three days until tickets go on sale. I am going to try for one ticket to the second game in Denver, so that would be the fourth game played. Might be the night The Rockies will will the World Series. Right now in this town, Baseball is what is really real. No one is talking about the Broncos that will be playing the Steelers this weekend. No one is even mentioning that the Nuggets start soon (that's our NBA team) and i have not heard word one about the Aves yet...
this is a BASEBALL town..
So, last week they changed the rules for buying tickets. There was, at first, going to be a lottery line that fans could get in and then see if they get a number close to the one called that will start the line. A lot like what they started doing for Phish tickets toward the end. But now they say that everyone has to go online to get the tickets. So, at 10am 50,000 fans will be swarming that site to get their hands on either a very great investment or a chance of a lifetime to see a World Series game played in out back yard.
(hopefully not once in a life time if we can hang on to the line-up over the off season- but you know what I mean).
I am not sure what i am going to do. I had some sudden expenses that have come up that might keep me from being able to afford one ticket. So we will have to see on monday what i can do.
I started to relax the last several days and even was able to sleep a little the last few nights, but that will all be gone sunday night again.
HOW FREAKING EXCITING!!!!
GO ROCKIES!!!

The Waiting is the hardest part..

OK, i know i used that line before, but GEEZ!! waiting for the World Series is taking all my patients. To be honest i don't care who we play. Have you seen what we have done to the last two teams that have worn red in our Stadium??? and one team we swept TWICE!!!!

But my dad would love for the Indians to be in the games. I will watch tonight to see if they are going to clinch it tonight or if we have to continue waiting.
So, they are making the tickets really hard to get by selling them online, only. I am soo afraid that hackers are going to get in and scoop up all the tickets, then the fans are forced to pay upwards of $500 just for the crappy seats, when they are actually on sale for only about $65. That sucks!!!!

Saw some of the guys practicing last night on the news.

Other than that, i am just working and worrying about cash flow, but that is life huh???
More on snack time later, i am still waiting for my lunch!
