my sister asked to see my first quilt block that i did yesterday, so you all get to enjoy the fruit of my labor.
They are all 2 inch squares to make a 16 inch block called Steps to Glory.

WOW, that was a good weekend.. Did a whole bunch of nothing while getting some stuff done.
Friday my boyfriend and I totally blew off a friend's birthday party and stayed home to watch TV. Neither one of us really wanted to go but we felt obligated, but then we decided that we didn't have to be obligated we felt better and stayed home. I can rationalize anything. But it was good to stay in, do nothing and hit the sac early.
Saturday i had envisioned a day of getting stuff done around the house. I had one quick errand to run to the fabric store to find some batting, but had to measure my blanket first. So, my boyfriend moaned and groaned all the way to the living room to help me measure my creation. (it's really big and I couldn't really do it on my own.. shut up, it's hard to add sometimes.) And he promptly told me about how much he didn't want to leave the house and was so tired. So, I say fine, get ready to go to the fabric store and suddenly he is back in the bedroom putting on his clothes and ASKING ME to go with him.. There was a good sale at Rite Aid (i shit you not) that got the man out of the house.

So, to make a long story short(er) I got bribed by a trip to the outlet stores (about 20 minutes south of town) to go with him to an Easter Egg hunt for kids at a local park. he had to take pics for the newspaper he works at. We went to the hunt because i have been trying to get the the outlet mall for about a year, so i was a sucker for the trip from the beginning and he knew it. Funny how men take advantage of our weaknesses. Shopping at the outlets will always get me, I admit. The kids were cute but the parents are pathetic. I mean this is for the kids, we all know that but the parents are crazy.. They are all screaming at their kid to get the "toys and prizes" that are on the ground, but mostly all the kids want are the eggs. So the parents are screaming to clueless 3 year olds that are just running around, dropping their eggs, spilling their baskets, stealing eggs from unsuspecting other clueless 3 year olds. Then don't even get me started about making these poor clueless kids get their picture taken with a four story (from their perspective) while rabbit that walks on two legs and has very large teeth. I mean their very own parents hand them over to a perfect stranger, you can't even see this person's eyes; and you say, here is my child, have them so i can take a picture. The kid starts screaming, every one laughs and this kid is terrified. Barrel of laughs..so anyway....

Then when the field is picked clean, the families spread out and check out the loot like they were having a picnic, at 10 o'clock in the morning.. Read me in a few years and I will have a story about cute little johnny picking up eggs and getting their picture taken with the easter bunny, but for right now, i think it is silly..

Then we ran out of the event and speed to Denny's because all these egg picking families are going there for breakfast and we wanted to beat the rush. Which they did and we did. More discussions about how we don't want to be "typical parents" at breakfast....but i am not sure that is possible. again, read this in a few years and tell me what a hypocrite i am or how i was talking out my ass. I will be ok with it.. (not really~ so don't press your luck).

The just as I thought we were on our way to spending my hard earned cash, we make an exit off the highway. I am then informed that there was some building projects that my boyfriend was doing a story on and that we need to go get some more pictures, oh yeah, and I had to drive.
(i should have known that one easter egg hunt was not enough collateral for a trip to the outlets.) So, around neighborhoods, in and out of parking lots and construction sites. Stopping and waiting, going and stopping. 30 minutes more and then we were back on the highway.

I saw the sign and just about pee-ed in my pants we had made it to Mecca, we had made it to the Outlet Mall.. here's what i got:
Border's bookstore - one dish suppers and 1,000 quilt blocks books
Jockey- Sweat suit/jogging suit (black with white stripe)
Leggs/Hanes- 3 pair of softest socks in the world- that's what they're called.. they are awesome
Pets Supplies- New KONG, bath soap for Watson, and new leashes and collars for both dogs. (everything was 50% off.. seriously.)
Gap- new jeans
That's about it... and we went to Rite Aid, of course..:) spent some cash there too..
Saturday night we did nothing but watch TV.. my favorite. and i salivated over some quilt blocks that i wanted to make.

Sunday I went to the fabric store.... when measuring the blanket the day before we found that no two sides are the same length, so i need some help fixing it. Of course there was no one there that was a sewing expert, so i have to come back.
then my next stop was (DRUM ROLL PLEASE) Great Clips.. yup mom, you read that right. I got my hair cut. Nothing special, it just isn't down to my belt anymore. Cute shorter cut, just below my shoulders..
Then i went home, made some chicken chowder from my new cookbook in the slow cooker and made some blocks from my quilting book. Did anyone happen to see CBS Sunday Morning?? Well they had a story on this quilter guy and his work was very inspiring to me.
That was my weekend, thanks for asking..
I also have to tell you all something.. well, here's how it went down.
I entered the building. There he stood.
Quietly i said "I don't know how to tell you this, but i have been doing a lot of thing and i think we need to talk.
He looked concerned and asked me to have a seat. I told him that i had been trying to make it work for me the last few weeks, but it has gotten to the point that i couldn't pretend any longer and that i thought it was time to end our relationship.
He asked if there was anything that he could change to convince me to change my mind and I just looked down and said no. I had made up my mind, and that it was best for both of us this way.
Then he said. "no problem ma'am" and handed me the paperwork.
I felt better, not to mention richer... I spent too much money on this relationship that was not working.
So, i will tell you all that i have officially broken up with my gym.
Fat and flabby 35 here i come. :)

Are you sh*ting me?? (woman get's stuck to toilet seat)

So many questions run though one's mind when hearing a story such as this one.
what was she reading that was so good? I mean i have gotten into a story but usually when one leg starts to tingle, you tend to do something about it. Even if you are not done, you can lift a leg.. etc..
And to be stuck in the bathroom for more than two years.. that is some serious burritos he was feeding her i guess. And had she not heard the old saying that you shouldn't eat where you shit? (never thought it would mean literally)

Where did he use the bathroom? I have seen my share of the inside of a trailer while doing my time in North Carolina and usually there is only one bathroom. What did he do when she was stuck for at least the last four weeks on the potty? Boy I bet he had some medical issues too if he was holding it for that long.

And didn't the boyfriend get concerned that she never wanted to come out??? Can you imagine the poor hospital workers that had to help pry the seat off her butt??? wow.. I don't think i needed that visual.. sorry about that.

Wednesday Snack

Holy Crap, Heaven found it's way to my computer.

All i have to say is that i am a hulu-addict..
Apparently this has been a beta site until today. It is Fox, NBC Universal, Sony, Warner Bros., MGM, the NBA, Lionsgate, FX, E! Entertainment, Bravo, National Geographic, and USA Networks' answer to Youtube.. And it is awesome.
I wouldn't say it is anything really like youtube, except it is video on demand on your computer. But this is heaven for a TV-addict such as myself. They play full length shows and movies on demand, for free. It is ad-supported, and i don't know how annoying that might get, but for now, i am impressed.

This is what i don't understand....

Here are just a few observations i had this morning.

(1) I HATE CILANTRO.. so, why on earth does Qdoba put so much in their rice... it is a vile, gross, disgusting substance and i think it should stay away from my food..

(2) Why do some people insist on opening their mouth when they squint? I have tried it both ways and you can, physically keep your mouth shut when squinting, so to the people that get behind me on the way to work. SHUT YOUR MOUTH, or drive at a less sunny time. It is gross and no one wants to see your gums, believe me!!!

(3) Why spend $4,300 on a prostitute? I mean isn't it all the same when you get going?? just wondering..

(4) What the hell is Goofy anyway??? and if he is a dog, they why does Pluto have to walk on all fours and Goofy doesn't? Just seems unfair to me.

(5) If you are going to the bathroom, stand to zip (or button depending on your preference) and your hair (from your head; people) gets stuck in the zipper, it is time to get a hair cut. The second time it happens you should just shave it all off.

(6) Why so much friggen cilantro???

(7) Why do was say the alarm clock is going off when it is really coming on???

(8) Did Sally make any money selling sea shells or did people just go pick up their own? And if you really don't care that Jimmy is cracking corn, they why still sing about it??

(9) And what exactly is the parking situation like at the Special Olympics??

No, there is no number ten only because it makes people uncomfortable to have things in an odd fashion.

Now, i just gave myself a chance to get on the google search trends. (http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends?q=rate+my+cop&date=2008-3-11&sa=X)
I tend to watch this everyday because, to be honest, i am stunned by how Howard Stern (not the Anna Nicole one) has such influence over our society. You may not be aware, but a lot of friggen people listen to Howard, me included. So, i will listen on my way to work, see who, what, they are chatting about and then come in and check the google trends. Since i live in the Mountain time zone, by the time i listen, everyone to the east has already heard it, so the trends are easy to see. Most times the searches are for the chicks he has on, or the politician they were talking about or to. But it amazes me.
But it is a cool site. you can track the top trends (they list the top 100) or you can compare two subjects to see which is getting more hits and when.. well, i just say check it out..
So, yesterday it was great, out of the top 20 searches the NY governor and prostitution sting were 16 searches. funny...
But today "What are you going to do, spoon me to death?" has been the top search for most of the morning. I guess it is from a Ben Stiller movie that i have not seen, but what i can't figure out is why so many people are searching this one phrase, AND what are they expecting to find on the internet? Examples for being spooned to death? so my personal quote that i say at least 50 times a day "people are weird!!!!"

Got some nugget tickets for tomorrow night. (that is our basketball team in Denver.. geez) We are taking our best friend for his birthday (ok, it was last week, but at least i remembered some time). I like watching A.I and Mello play together. good match ups.

Had softball practice yesterday. I didn't seriously hurt anyone, just some minor pitching errors. that's all. But for the most part i think i did ok. Especially for not holding a bat or ball in about 10 years. (ok 15 but shut up)... my butt hurts from squatting. I am guessing that i don't squat very often in my daily life. That's gunna have to change.. I hurt to sit and stand back up..and of course every time i do i have to make the comment 'oh, my butt hurts". You can imagine how popular i am with my co-workers.

Today is pretty lame compared to yesterday. I mean no water on the head during my shower, we replaced the shower head so it was a rather uneventful shower this morning.

Here are some things that will make today a little bit more special
(1) today is oatmeal-nut waffle day. (not really a big fan, I don't really like anything with nuts in it. brownies, cookies, fudge, ice cream etc- but no reason for you not to indulge.
(2)Today is organize your home office day (thank god i work at work, no reason to lift a finger when i get home)
(3) today is National Debunking Day, a day to debunk rumors and myths. (um.. ok...)
(4) today is Independence Day for Lithuania. (The Grateful Dead sponsored the 1996 Lithuanian Basketball team for the Olympics. I got to go to a game that they played because i was working and living in Atlanta at the time, It was cool because their warm up suits were tie-dyed and they all had small black bands on their jerseys for Jerry. I also got a t-shirt for myself. It is a tie-die with a basketball with the steal your face in it going though a basketball hoop)
(5) Today is Worship of tools day (depends on what you consider a tool, i guess- most tools i know, i don't want to worship)

Yup, that's about it. After spending the weekend in my sweats and slippers I am back to work. My horoscope says it is a three star day and I say i would agree with that.
The alarm scared the snot out of me this morning when it went off. I think my boyfriend jumped higher than I did because before i could scream 'Holy Crap Hugo Vasquez is in our bed and I don't know what he wants" My boyfriend was up and out of the door. We listen to the spanish channel to wake up to, even if they are telling you the news we can't understand it, so we just pretend it is all good.
Then after waiting for the shower, i get in, start to wash my hair and go to grab the shower head to reposition it to not spray directly into my face, the entire stem of the head busts and water then flies everywhere. At the same time i am trying to get the conditioner out of my eyes and trying to control the spraying from the stem that is going all over the bathroom, my boyfriend comes in and dumps water on me.. seemingly for no reason. When i explain the the shower head had just busted, he helps me repair it... it still doesn't work well for the rest of my shower, so i am sure my hair looks all flat and greasy from not getting all the conditioner out..

He then tells me that he had to pour water on my because my horoscope said for me not to be surprised if i get water thrown on me... but i am not sure that's exactly what it meant. no mind, i was all wet already..
Just not the best way to start the earlier-than-god-planned-for-me-to-get-up, Monday morning..
By the way, i thought this was interesting.. because Indiana has not participated in DLS (seriously?? you need me to spell it out... come on people... Day Light Savings..) until recently, a study was conducted to see how their energy bills fluctuated when they did convert to DLS and low and behold... we are spending MORE to go with DLS.. I knew it, and now with our brilliant President's plan to make it happen earlier, we are spending more.. I think he has a deal with the power companies AND the oil companies... Can't wait until 2009...

So, did you see my blanket??? do you like it? I can't wait to get the rest totally finished...I will show you the completed blanket. I hope i can get the rest done by next weekend.. I have some patches left over and I am not sure what to do with them. So if you have some crafty creative ideas of what to do with patches let me know.

The sausage and lentil soup was great, We froze a few bags and i have some for lunch too.

Big Brother was last night, and they are back to playing as individuals. That is ok, but it seems that all these people do is lie to each other. I wish someone would come into the game with a new game plan. It gets old when every nomination is meant to be a back door, or someone is a pawn. I want some new game play. But i am going to keep watching. be sure of that..
The live feed blog is fun, but i get too many spoilers that by the time i watch the CBS show, nothing is really a surprise, so i am weaning my way off that site.

Today is the start of my company softball team season. We are having a little practice this afternoon.. Hope i don't hit anyone in the kneecaps. (at least not on my team)

Quilting time....

So, I finished the top of my quilt. I need to go get some batting and then a backing of some kind. I am thinking some flannel sheets will do for a back, but for now, since you all have been chomping at the bit to see my quilt, here are some pictures..












We are cooking a sausage, lentil and zucchini's soup. Right now the whole house smells great. And no i am not sharing, so make your own. It called for a cup of red wine, so we got a bottle for the soup. after we took the cup out, we realized there is a bunch left over. well, not so much now....

Friday Snack

Hell Yeah... It's the weekend!!!

Not that i have anything exciting planned this weekend. But just not getting out of bed and having to go through the morning routine for a few days is great, don't you all agree?? And if you don't do the traditional job, then shut, up, sit down and stop bragging..

So, this weekend. well it is getting to be a whopping 55 degrees on Saturday, and sunday... so maybe a little disc golf. It is going to be a lot less windy this weekend so maybe my partners can hang on to their discs..

My first softball game is in a few weeks so i guess i should go toss the ball around since i am pitching. So that might be on order.. and i am going to work on my blanket that you all still haven't seen... so, i am sure you don't care that much.

My dog you ask??? thanks for thinking about him.. well we went to the vet. he is good. heart and lungs sound good.. and we think he has an eye infection, so we get drops twice a day and i think it is already starting to feel better.. at least looked better last night.

But the good news is that my vet wants to enter my dog in an arthritis study. He has bad hips (mixing German Shepard and Rottweiller gives you a great dog, but BAD, BAD hips..-just mental note) so they took some blood (and shaved a little spot on his chest) and we will know today if he qualifies.. So, he will get arthritis meds, there are no placebos, they want to get a liquid form of an already used drug on the market) and then he gets a bunch of free vet visits and tests... Then at the end he gets a $250 credit at the vet.. we will see. I really would love for him to get some help. Good boy watson!!!

Middle of the weeks blues?? Sorry I can't help you.. But I have found something that makes me weep with joy. There is a big brother live feed blog. Someone actually takes the time to blog about what is going on in the BB house all day.. live. Ok, that is nuts, but i am glad someone is doing it. $14.00 is too much for me to pay to CBS to watch them. Now i don't have to wait or guess, I can read the BB9 blog.
Yeah, as i have said to my sister many times today. I am sad.. Very sad..
But not as sad as my Budders has looked the last few days. I don't know if i have said anything, but his eyes appear to be very dry and they look like they hurt him so today we are gearing up and going to the vet. I have not taken him to the doc in a while so it is time, but i know it is going to cost me more than i want to spend. (which is nothing, really.) but he is my best friend, so i am going to get him help. poor guy.. Our appointment is in about an hour and a half, so i will be leaving work early (oh, boo) to take him. Then it is off to the gym to get in some running (ok, walking slow on the treadmill, but i wanted you all to think i was in better shape- but if you read this enough you will know that i am nothing but a couch potato waiting for my reality programming to begin, so who am I kidding) and then home for SURVIVOR!!!
I am almost done with the top of my patch work blanket. I am starting to make the boarder and then i have to attach it, put the batting on, then the backing, then sew it all together, end it off with some silky stuff around the edges and i am done. So with all those tasks, i can say that i should be done about.. oh, I don't know. next christmas :)
only 6 complete shopping weeks until my birthday.. hint, hint...

(1) Today is southern draw day.. Oh my gowd, I had no idea... I love the southern accent. Mine only comes out when i have had a few these days.. Lived away from the south for too long i guess)
(2) Today is National Chocolate Cheesecake day. (again, like pound cake, I don't need a celebration day to eat Choc. cheesecake..)
(3) Today is independence day in Ghana, Wonder why they don't just call it March 6th, like we do July 4th (ok, I wont get started on that pet peeve again until this next July.. so, stayed tuned)

and then this is just gross... I don't eat beef, but i am sure the same can be said of ground turkey or chicken. who knows...

So, (I heart) Huckabee- (I don't and didn't even like the movie either but...) dropped out of the race last night. Surprise, surprise.. That makes no matter to me, just another white face in a tie that i don't have to look at any more. And the race just keeps getting tighter for Obama and Clinton. I am not sure that the choice should go all the way to the convention here, but it would make for an historic convention in my backyard.
I am looking forward to all the hoop-la and everything that will surround the convention. My guessing is that the strip clubs are going to be packed. It would be interesting to get shoot in a club now and then in the middle of the convention and see when it was fuller. My guess is going to be during the convention. But this is the most exciting political year i can remember. Very exciting to see the enthusiasm move across the country.

On a different note, I don't want to be one to spread any rumors but it seems that Johnny Castle may not be teaching many more latin dance moves to modest, shy jewish girls much longer.
Don't know who i am talking about? even after the quote in the headline??? well It seems the Patrick Swayze, according to the National Enquirer (i know, but they seem to break big celebrity stories as much as report crap) is dieing from cancer and only has 5 weeks to live. He is only 55. Very sad.. I was just talking about the sketch with Patrick Swayze and Chris Farley when they were trying out to be Chipendale's dancers on SNL.. Very funny sketch.
I do wish he and his family the best. Very sad... NO Body puts baby in the corner. Right now it is the number one search on Google. Hope they put some confirming words up soon. This is the same cancer that the guitarist in Widespread Panic dies from a few years back.. And he was younger than Patrick is now..

And on to happier items, Did everyone do something yesterday that they were procrastinating on? I went swimming. Now I have water in my ear still from last night. so, i maybe should have put that task off longer.

200,000 and still going

Driving around looking for something to eat this afternoon for lunch and my odometer rolled around to 200,000. I was scared that the lug nuts would start springing off and the tires would just fall off, but nothing like that went down. I made it back to work. (except for the fact that I am out of gas). But i can't believe that my car is still going. (thanks to the many that have helped keep this car in such good repair.)
It is a good one and I can't imagine driving anything else right now. so it better last a while longer.
Today is going so fast. What contrast to last week. I didn't even know it was snack time and there it was 20 minutes past. Today we are having chex Mix in the small packages. They are great for my boyfriend, so i bring home a package to him.
I am really looking forward to getting to the gym today. The pool was closed for most of the week last week, so i really want to do some swimming.
This past weekend i made a chicken stroganoff in the crock pot, so leftovers for dinner tonight.
That's about it. The day has gone so fast that i didn't really have time to look around and see what;s going down.
Until tomorrow everyone.. I am out of here....
Oh, this past weekend I went disc golfing.. we found a great course. Lots of water. I didn't lose my disc but my boyfriend and our other friend each lost one. (both on the same hole) I played it safe and didn't lose mine. Go play some disc golf. anyone can play, any level.. just play...

what are we supposed to leap?

Everyone has been looking at me strange all day and i can't figure it out. Why isn't everyone leaping over things today? I figure everyone else are able to get their leaping in in the privacy of their own homes.

So, we were having a discussion the other night about leap day and we hear that women are supposed to propose marriage to their men on this day. I said it reminded me of the Sadie Hawkins dances we have in Middle school. My boyfriend looked at me like i was crazy. I guess they don't have Sadie Hawkins days where he grew up.

Remove your hand from the mouse.. I will answer all your questions right now and the answer is NO, I am not going to propose to my boyfriend today.. That is his job and he knows it. I am not the one to overstep my boundaries. And i have a feeling he will ask me when our child says it's ok (we are not even pregnant right now)
So rest easy, you will know if it ever happens but i can tell you for sure it will not be today.rest easy.
This weekend is delivery weekend, again. We have to deliver the music magazines that we do each month. So the only thing it means to me is that i get a good lunch or dinner out of it. That is my payment for helping my boyfriend get this side job done.
but i want to get it all done before saturday which is going to be in the upper 60's to lower 70's. Very exciting.. I love this time of year. It can be wonderfully warm one day and snowing the nest. exactly what is called for this weekend. nice saturday, snowing sunday.
I have no motivation to be here today. The only thing that was making me excited for work was where we were ordering from today. I really wanted a fried chicken tossed salad. but when i got here I looked over the menu and looked again, and can't find what i want. They don't even have that offered anymore... how sad.. And now i am here and with out lunch. My weekend might start at lunchtime. what do you think??? well since no one ever leaves me comments, I have to make my own mind up. That was easy.. see you next week..

Sunny Days, sweeping the clouds away

wow, as my grandfather would say, today's a bute...
the sun is shinning the birds are singing, ok they were geese honking as they flew over head, but you know what i mean. At least i could get out for n]lunch and have myself a walk. Very nice (in my best Borat voice)
The temps are expected to continue to climb and reach the culmination on saturday with a high near 70. Just in time for March 1. The weather man that i watch every morning was saying yesterday that we have gotten exactly half the snow this winter so far than last. And thank God for that. We were saying that if we lived in Silverton (look it up if you don't know where it is.. good geography lesson) that we would have given up shoveling by now and just been trapped in our house. They are getting snow storms that are dumping feet upon feet of snow on them. No Thanks!!!
But this weather lets you know that it is almost over and you can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Sunday we are supposed to get snow again.. yuck.
email issues are subsiding and i woke this morning to 92 emails that came in over night. I still changed my email address. It was time and a good reason.
I read my horoscope today and it said i was to have a five star day. I have not had a five star day in about three weeks. I guess something came out of retrograde or something moved into one of my houses. God i hope they pay rent, i could use more income.
Well that;s about it.. sorry to be so boring, but i have sat here thinking of something to rant about but am coming up blank. Check back after 2pm MST to get the snack update.

Email issues.

So, for no reason, out of the blue my email stops receiveing mail. All day i have not gotten one piece of email. (and I know what you are thinking and yes i do have friends i talk to on email oftn, so that's not why i didn't get any email today.)
something is wrong and I have not officially given up on hotmail and moving on to bigger and better email servers. I hope. But email issues suck. On a happy note, a co-worker on mine put more memory in my work computer and it is working so much better.. so that is good.
Today's snack was cream puffs..
no thanks..
That's about it.. long day.. long week... ready to do nothing all weekend.
But i gotta get though the next two days.
Big Brother update- glad the chick with the annoying voice is gone.. she is crazy, and she can't live on slop, so she's gotta go.

Summer Festival season

Well it is that time again. Time to decide what to spend our hard earned money on.. where in the country to travel and what bands to see. There are so many festivals in the summer and my boyfriend and I have been to a bunch. Bonaroo, Wakarusa, 10,000 Lakes, High Sierra and they are all great and very different in their own rights. This year, though the decision was made easy when the new kid on the block showed his little head with announcing act like Dave Mathews (not a big fan, but ok), WIDESPREAD PANIC, 311 (cool), Phil & friends (again, ok), PRIMUS (Meaning Friggen Les Claypool!!!!), Thievery Corporation, SN DOUBLEo DoubleP Do doubleG (that's right), Modest Mouse (ok, why not) and the Profit walking on Earth Michael Frante and Spearhead, Gov't Mule (meaning i will hear Soul Shine this year), STS9, the Biscuits. Well that is only a few... the list keeps going and doesn't really drop off in talent like a lot of festival line ups do. You know after the two headliners they are all second rate bands with no ties to them. well this is different. and not only are they giving us this great line up, they have a really great platform also.
Well the official name is Rothbury: a sustainable music festival celebrating music, art, and action. You can buy a "green ticket" that is an extra three dollars to help off set your carbon emissions for ticket printing. There are other ways they are helping the environment for this large scale event. Very exciting...

Buanother of the great things about this festival is that it is located on Lake Michigan really close to a town where i lived for a while with an ex before moving to Colorado. I am very excited to be able to go back to MI and see some old friends that i have not seen since moving away in 1999. But we don't have tickets yet (early bird tickets go on sale tomorrow). We are not sure if we are going to spring for it or not. I would want to camp VIP, so it is a bit more spendy. I did just get my tax refund back, but i need to repay my boyfriend for my plane ticket to Chicago in April for my birthday and panic shows. Not to mention hotel in Chi town too.. ouch!!
And for those keeping score, i am feeling MUCH better thank you for asking. Just little cough left, but that's deal-able.
Oh and snack time was the six cracker packets of peanut butter crackers, or cheese on wheat or lemon cookies or chocolate cookies or shortbread cookies, etc. I got a package of lemon cookies and brought them home to my boyfriend.
OMG~ gotta go, Big Brother is about to start!!!!

Not mine, thank God!! but my parents are about to em-bark on a new tale (tail) of life. I can't believe how adorable he could paw-sably be... :)
OK, I will stop..
But he is a cutie. I think they get to get him in a few weeks.. How CUTE.
(I am just glad it is them and not me.... and i live 2,000 miles away. Thats about how far puppy poop smell can travel. so i am safe from that... But i will miss the awesome stage of puppy breath. Only last a little while, but it is soo cute,, But then it turns just as stinky..

Friday again

Well this was a short week for me because i spent a lot of it in bed or on the sofa. I am back at work and feeling better, but the weird thing is that i have no voice.
Yesterday i was taking a nap, resting on the sofa around dinner time. My boyfriend called me in the kitchen to get my plate for dinner. When i tried to respond i sounded like an 80 year old man.. Very low voice.. as the night went on, it kept coming in and out. Seemed the longer between words the more it would take to get the first few words out.
This morning, more of the same.
As i sit here at work, I don't tend to talk much because of the work that i do. Mostly i have headphones on and watching a monitor and typing, so not a lot of interaction going on with others. So, when i do try to say something nothing is coming out.
very silly end to a cold... But i am sure it will be back and it will probably give my boyfriend a much needed break from hearing my voice.

Sick Days

Sorry for the lack of updates, but i am not feeling well at all..
It's just me, a book and a hot bath. My head feels like it is about to explode.
Maybe the lunar eclipse tonight will help lessen the pressure.

President's day

Hello and happy President's day. I wonder if you get to pick and choose what presidents you want to honor today?? anyway.. I am home, not working and it is wonderful. Saturday i made a crock pot full of a wonderful jambalaya and we had a friend over for dinner. That was good. Then Sunday we went to get some breakfast and then it was back home for chores and some hanging out. I got a few more strips done for my blanket. So, it is almost done. I have about six more strips to make. We had leftover jambalaya so no cooking last night.. But then I started not feeling really wel, just more tired then i felt i should. Now i am here at home on a vacation day and i have a scratchy throat, feel warm and have NO energy at all.. :(
what a way to spend a perfectly good hookie day.
I am trying to work on some editing stuff i wanted to get done and i just don't feel well at all. I think i might go take a nap soon.
Sorry to not be that entertaining today.. just feel like crap. Hope it isn't one of the millions of flu strands that i didn't get a shot for. ugh.

Because I'm a survivor....

Was that a little obvious?? i will try harder next week.. But that's right, tonight is Survivor thursday. Rounding out the week just right after two nights of Big Brother.
I was shocked at the eviction ceremony. I really though the older woman that keeps bitching was going to go. Boy her ass got saved for reals!!! Now she has to stop bitching and start looking at the experience positively or she is next to go, (we can only hope)
So there was some major events that went down at the big brother house last night.
***SPOILER ALERT*** stop reading here if you don't want the gossip...
So i guess the dark haired gay guy was asked to go to the diary room and then (wait for it...) he didn't come back. Apparently the blonder guy was called in next and was told that he had to pick another partner from the two that were evicted just hours before. He picked the girl of the couple that was evicted and she came back.. CRAZY!!! i can't wait to hear what happened with the other guy. some are saying it was a family situation.. who knows.. maybe he didn't come out to someone and they were going to kill him??? don't know but i, personally, am glad that the girl is back. She didn't deserve to go and I think everyone knew that and wanted her to stay and her boy to go.. and in the end, that's what happened.. Now we have to wait until sunday to see what spin they are going to put on this to explain the guys untimely leaving.

So, yesterday was the best snack ever... ICE CREAM SANDWICHES
I had one, of course. Today is fruit cups.
Happy V day.. it's not a big holiday in my house.. ok it's not a holiday at all. It used to be my grandparent anniversary, so it was easy to remember to call them, But they have both passed and this will be their first anniversary together in a while. I am glad for that.

Going to see Rodrigo Y Gabriela tonight at the filmore. You should google their name and check out some tunes. They are an amazing acoustic guitar duo. They play a lot of heavy metal on acoustic guitars.. AMAZING... well, check it out, I will be.

And the WINNER is.....

The beagle!!! (funny i am eating a bagel, but i digress) This is the first win for the bread, and I think this is a great looking dog!!!

So, Big Brother was yesterday and guess what.. TONIGHT ALSO!!!! I like the new twist that they all are paired with their 'soul mates" but i feel sooo bad for the couple that was coming on the show to be a "hidden couple" playing together. But they weren't paired together. You could tell that the boyfriend of the couple was pretty upset that his girlie was going to be sleeping in some other dudes bed for three months, if they stay that long.

To be honest, I was happy to see an older woman come on the show to play, but then she immediately starting acting like a 12 year old. She got paired with a guy that she was not attracted to and started whining and pouting and talking bad about the guy with in seconds of meeting him. Doesn't show that more mature people can act that way. She is awful and I really hope that she gets voted out of the house tonight. I don't think that guy is the greatest myself, but i am sorry that he will have to get evicted with her. Too bad, try again next year.

This season the show will air on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays. So it makes the work week that much more to look forward to, we will see. If it is a lame season, then it won't be that great. but i thought last season was good, and most didn't.. so don't take my opinion as yours.

That's about it for today. Oh, Snack yesterday was frozen fruit cups. (like a frozen slushy)

The Barkers are back in town

That is if you live in Westminster.. where ever that is.. I know we have one here in Colorado and My grandparents used to live in a town called Westminster when they lived in Maryland, but something tells me neither of these places are the infamous Westminster that the Kennel Club has their annual dog show.
When i was younger and lived with my father, this was his favorite event on television. I mean he would throw large Super bowl parties and have my uncle and aunt from Pennsylvania down for Formula One races, but I don't think anything beat the Kennel Club Dog Show for my dad. We would tape it all day (in the days before tivo we actually had to use these devices called VCRs - practicing for the off spring that will know nothing before cell phone video and HD) and then that night he would make dinner and we would set our places in front of the TV in the living room on TV trays (the only time we didn't have that meal on the table in the kitchen) and watch the VCR recording of the Dog show.
He would always get excited for the working class dogs because he loved his German Shepard we have when i was growing up and for the rest of his life he wanted another Golden retriever. I guess this is where my love affair for the kennel club and large dogs originates. I have had two rottweilers, Gyoza and Watson, for about 10 and 8 years now(respectively). They have been my children and I love them like that.
Tonight I will be tuning in to the Kennel Club and thinking of my dad.. (I am sure he will be in the seat next to me telling me which one he thinks is going to take the big bone.)

On other news (but still of the TV variety) BIG BROTHER starts tonight.. I am more than excited.. I mean it really was the only reason to get out of bed this morning was to come to work to make the day go by fast to get home and watch the premier episode for the season. Apparently they have matched up the house guests as "soul mates" and they have to play the game as a pair. That would suck if you actually didn't get along with your "soul mate". Well i will fill you in tomorrow on all the happenings on CBS show. (9 EST, 6PST, and as Brian Williams says on the NBC nightly news - you people in the middle know the drill) so that means that show time is at 7pm here!!! Gotta get my butt to the gym and home again in time to watch..

So, my sister challenged me and i had to say yes. The challenge is that we both get at least 30 minutes of exercise everyday of lent (that started last week) So i have been keeping up on my 30 minutes until yesterday. I just didn't have it in me. So this morning i confessed my lent sin to my sister and she said that she didn't do her 30 minutes yesterday either. That means that i HAVE to do it today. We told each other that since we missed yesterday we are going to bump it up to 45 tonight..
So, watch out gym, here i come for my 45 minutes jaunt on the treadmill. Swimming will be for tomorrow.

Monday madness

Well It's official, i am not into mondays and I do not want to go to the gym. This past weekend was beautiful and we went for walks everyday. So nice to get out and walk around, but we were on a double mission. While walking we were also checking out houses in our area that might be for rent or sale. We are looking in both categories as to not rule something out just yet. But we are pretty sure we want to move this summer, when out lease is up. Are needs are slightly changing and we are looking for something with a basement and better insulation etc. WE are paying out of our nose for heat and we both freeze in our house, but can't afford to turn the heat up.. Bottom line, we want to move so the search is on.

Today's snack was individually wrapped bite size candies of Twix, snickers, 3 musketeers, and Milky way... I had one of each for the record. Everyone needs a chocolate pick me up on a monday.
Other than that, the sun is shining and I can't complain about that. I am ready for spring, I think mostly because i am ready for my trip to Chicago, seeing panic and enjoying my birthday weekend.

Speaking of birthdays, my mom's birthday is Wednesday!! i think she loves her birthday as much as i do. It's your day and no one can take that away from you.

Sunday is here again.

It's sunday. Probable the best and worst day of the week. I love being able to sleep in, get chores done that didn't get done yesterday and have a nice big breakfast, but i also know that tomorrow brings the alarm clock and early morning showers. UGH!!

But I am going to make the best of it. We have temps getting into the mid to high 50s today, so I see a dog walk in my future.

But right now i am still working on my patch work blanket. I am making some progress so i will put up a picture soon of the blanket in the works.

Sunday is here again.

We're getting there...

It is almost friday, but it is the day i have been looking forward to since the new -well if you can call it that this season- winter line up came out.. SURVIVOR starts tonight.. very exciting. When i saw this month come on the calendar i got excited for Survivor and Big Brother. BB starts next week.
Today's snack was scoop your own ice cream and apple pie.
I didn't have either.
I have changed up my workouts a bit, well a lot. I have moved on to swimming.. and i can't believe how much i missed floating on a regular basis. I mean being in Colorado, we don't get the opportunity to flat like when i was living in North Carolina. I grew up on a swim team and competed every year until i was in High School and started on land sports and really never went back into the pool except to play with my nieces and nephew at my mom's house. I have discovered it is just like riding a bike, once you learn, you can't unlearn. And i have noticed from a fitness website i frequent, that swimming can burn more calories than the treadmill. no kidding..
So, this afternoon, while it is freezing outside, i am going swimming.
I hope everyone has their Tivo programmed for survivor so we can talk about it tomorrow..

Puzzle #9- this is the end

And since we've got no pace to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

Only got about two to four inches last night but it makes for getting to work to be a nightmare. I mean we live in Colorado people. If you don't have 4x4 you will slide, it will be hard to get up hills and you will cause traffic back ups and maybe even crashes. What are you thinking driving your CRX in four inches of icy snow? Just doesn't make sense to me.. So, i stayed home for a bit, just took my time getting ready and didn't rush and found that it was better a little later, but still heavy on the side roads. I just came back from a lunch time drive to see the condition out there and most of the main streets are black again.. no worries getting home tonight.
Most people will be caucusing.. (weird, didn't think that was a word, but spell check didn't underline it) I am not. I would like to, but i am not registered in this city to vote right now. I just have never gotten around to it since I moved to Denver. So i think i will get my driver's license changed soon to be sure i can vote in November. I never voted before i was 25, and now i will vote every time i can. I just think, no matter what your beliefs are you should voice them and work to make this a growing nation. I have been very embarrassed to be an American for the last 8 years and I really hope i have the opportunity to be proud.

I have started a new project with my new sewing machine and it is going great. I have 10 strips for my patchwork blanket sew. I only have about 20+ left. I looked ahead at the weekend on the calendar and I am so excited to see NOTHING written on it. We have been going somewhere and doing something every weekend for a while and I am glad that we have one all at home. We need to do some picking up and general cleaning, but above that i want to get my blanket really underway. I am afraid that i am going to run out of pre-cut patches that i have made and then some strips will be completely different, but i guess thats what patchwork blankets are all about. I will post a picture of the strips later this week.

OK, I know i have used that one before, but seriously, can you blame me? it's a great song... But I am not only using those lyrics (to Surprise Valley by Widespread Panic) to celebrate my upcoming birthday shows that we got the last of the tickets we needed this morning. OR to use it because i am soo excited that we found this special deal on a room a the Affina Chicago Hotel. THEY HAVE A PILLOW MENU. No I am not kidding, you can pick what kind of pillow you want to sleep on. You can change it everyday if you want. I am going to start with the Buckwheat pillow and then maybe move on to the Swedish foam pillow, ending the weekend with a plush down pillow..:) I can't wait!!!!




But that is not the reason i was using this song and those lyrics. See last night my boyfriend and I were watching Celebrity Rehab on VH1. and after a commercial break, they came back to the show and the music they used was Surprise Vally by Widespread Panic. I looked at my boyfriend immediately and said "that's panic". We backed it up, turned it up and sure enough, i know my boys....
We were really enjoying watching the world series this past year (if you have been reading my blog for a while, then you may remember) not only because my team was playing but they would ALWAYS play panic going in and out of commercial breaks this past series. We even had friends that made World Series Set lists from the songs they played and at the end of what inning, too funny..

So, you never know where you are going to catch a tune to two.. keep your ears open.

I am glad it is Friday. I feel that i have to apologize for not updating everyday, but this was a complete no energy week and even less to say. so i didn't say much at all. Yesterday's snack was chocolate chip or M7M or sugar cookies. I didn't eat one and I even took Watson for a walk yesterday. getting exercise is good..
