200,000 and still going

Driving around looking for something to eat this afternoon for lunch and my odometer rolled around to 200,000. I was scared that the lug nuts would start springing off and the tires would just fall off, but nothing like that went down. I made it back to work. (except for the fact that I am out of gas). But i can't believe that my car is still going. (thanks to the many that have helped keep this car in such good repair.)
It is a good one and I can't imagine driving anything else right now. so it better last a while longer.
Today is going so fast. What contrast to last week. I didn't even know it was snack time and there it was 20 minutes past. Today we are having chex Mix in the small packages. They are great for my boyfriend, so i bring home a package to him.
I am really looking forward to getting to the gym today. The pool was closed for most of the week last week, so i really want to do some swimming.
This past weekend i made a chicken stroganoff in the crock pot, so leftovers for dinner tonight.
That's about it. The day has gone so fast that i didn't really have time to look around and see what;s going down.
Until tomorrow everyone.. I am out of here....
Oh, this past weekend I went disc golfing.. we found a great course. Lots of water. I didn't lose my disc but my boyfriend and our other friend each lost one. (both on the same hole) I played it safe and didn't lose mine. Go play some disc golf. anyone can play, any level.. just play...

what are we supposed to leap?

Everyone has been looking at me strange all day and i can't figure it out. Why isn't everyone leaping over things today? I figure everyone else are able to get their leaping in in the privacy of their own homes.

So, we were having a discussion the other night about leap day and we hear that women are supposed to propose marriage to their men on this day. I said it reminded me of the Sadie Hawkins dances we have in Middle school. My boyfriend looked at me like i was crazy. I guess they don't have Sadie Hawkins days where he grew up.

Remove your hand from the mouse.. I will answer all your questions right now and the answer is NO, I am not going to propose to my boyfriend today.. That is his job and he knows it. I am not the one to overstep my boundaries. And i have a feeling he will ask me when our child says it's ok (we are not even pregnant right now)
So rest easy, you will know if it ever happens but i can tell you for sure it will not be today.rest easy.
This weekend is delivery weekend, again. We have to deliver the music magazines that we do each month. So the only thing it means to me is that i get a good lunch or dinner out of it. That is my payment for helping my boyfriend get this side job done.
but i want to get it all done before saturday which is going to be in the upper 60's to lower 70's. Very exciting.. I love this time of year. It can be wonderfully warm one day and snowing the nest. exactly what is called for this weekend. nice saturday, snowing sunday.
I have no motivation to be here today. The only thing that was making me excited for work was where we were ordering from today. I really wanted a fried chicken tossed salad. but when i got here I looked over the menu and looked again, and can't find what i want. They don't even have that offered anymore... how sad.. And now i am here and with out lunch. My weekend might start at lunchtime. what do you think??? well since no one ever leaves me comments, I have to make my own mind up. That was easy.. see you next week..

Sunny Days, sweeping the clouds away

wow, as my grandfather would say, today's a bute...
the sun is shinning the birds are singing, ok they were geese honking as they flew over head, but you know what i mean. At least i could get out for n]lunch and have myself a walk. Very nice (in my best Borat voice)
The temps are expected to continue to climb and reach the culmination on saturday with a high near 70. Just in time for March 1. The weather man that i watch every morning was saying yesterday that we have gotten exactly half the snow this winter so far than last. And thank God for that. We were saying that if we lived in Silverton (look it up if you don't know where it is.. good geography lesson) that we would have given up shoveling by now and just been trapped in our house. They are getting snow storms that are dumping feet upon feet of snow on them. No Thanks!!!
But this weather lets you know that it is almost over and you can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Sunday we are supposed to get snow again.. yuck.
email issues are subsiding and i woke this morning to 92 emails that came in over night. I still changed my email address. It was time and a good reason.
I read my horoscope today and it said i was to have a five star day. I have not had a five star day in about three weeks. I guess something came out of retrograde or something moved into one of my houses. God i hope they pay rent, i could use more income.
Well that;s about it.. sorry to be so boring, but i have sat here thinking of something to rant about but am coming up blank. Check back after 2pm MST to get the snack update.

Email issues.

So, for no reason, out of the blue my email stops receiveing mail. All day i have not gotten one piece of email. (and I know what you are thinking and yes i do have friends i talk to on email oftn, so that's not why i didn't get any email today.)
something is wrong and I have not officially given up on hotmail and moving on to bigger and better email servers. I hope. But email issues suck. On a happy note, a co-worker on mine put more memory in my work computer and it is working so much better.. so that is good.
Today's snack was cream puffs..
no thanks..
That's about it.. long day.. long week... ready to do nothing all weekend.
But i gotta get though the next two days.
Big Brother update- glad the chick with the annoying voice is gone.. she is crazy, and she can't live on slop, so she's gotta go.

Summer Festival season

Well it is that time again. Time to decide what to spend our hard earned money on.. where in the country to travel and what bands to see. There are so many festivals in the summer and my boyfriend and I have been to a bunch. Bonaroo, Wakarusa, 10,000 Lakes, High Sierra and they are all great and very different in their own rights. This year, though the decision was made easy when the new kid on the block showed his little head with announcing act like Dave Mathews (not a big fan, but ok), WIDESPREAD PANIC, 311 (cool), Phil & friends (again, ok), PRIMUS (Meaning Friggen Les Claypool!!!!), Thievery Corporation, SN DOUBLEo DoubleP Do doubleG (that's right), Modest Mouse (ok, why not) and the Profit walking on Earth Michael Frante and Spearhead, Gov't Mule (meaning i will hear Soul Shine this year), STS9, the Biscuits. Well that is only a few... the list keeps going and doesn't really drop off in talent like a lot of festival line ups do. You know after the two headliners they are all second rate bands with no ties to them. well this is different. and not only are they giving us this great line up, they have a really great platform also.
Well the official name is Rothbury: a sustainable music festival celebrating music, art, and action. You can buy a "green ticket" that is an extra three dollars to help off set your carbon emissions for ticket printing. There are other ways they are helping the environment for this large scale event. Very exciting...

Buanother of the great things about this festival is that it is located on Lake Michigan really close to a town where i lived for a while with an ex before moving to Colorado. I am very excited to be able to go back to MI and see some old friends that i have not seen since moving away in 1999. But we don't have tickets yet (early bird tickets go on sale tomorrow). We are not sure if we are going to spring for it or not. I would want to camp VIP, so it is a bit more spendy. I did just get my tax refund back, but i need to repay my boyfriend for my plane ticket to Chicago in April for my birthday and panic shows. Not to mention hotel in Chi town too.. ouch!!
And for those keeping score, i am feeling MUCH better thank you for asking. Just little cough left, but that's deal-able.
Oh and snack time was the six cracker packets of peanut butter crackers, or cheese on wheat or lemon cookies or chocolate cookies or shortbread cookies, etc. I got a package of lemon cookies and brought them home to my boyfriend.
OMG~ gotta go, Big Brother is about to start!!!!

Not mine, thank God!! but my parents are about to em-bark on a new tale (tail) of life. I can't believe how adorable he could paw-sably be... :)
OK, I will stop..
But he is a cutie. I think they get to get him in a few weeks.. How CUTE.
(I am just glad it is them and not me.... and i live 2,000 miles away. Thats about how far puppy poop smell can travel. so i am safe from that... But i will miss the awesome stage of puppy breath. Only last a little while, but it is soo cute,, But then it turns just as stinky..

Friday again

Well this was a short week for me because i spent a lot of it in bed or on the sofa. I am back at work and feeling better, but the weird thing is that i have no voice.
Yesterday i was taking a nap, resting on the sofa around dinner time. My boyfriend called me in the kitchen to get my plate for dinner. When i tried to respond i sounded like an 80 year old man.. Very low voice.. as the night went on, it kept coming in and out. Seemed the longer between words the more it would take to get the first few words out.
This morning, more of the same.
As i sit here at work, I don't tend to talk much because of the work that i do. Mostly i have headphones on and watching a monitor and typing, so not a lot of interaction going on with others. So, when i do try to say something nothing is coming out.
very silly end to a cold... But i am sure it will be back and it will probably give my boyfriend a much needed break from hearing my voice.

Sick Days

Sorry for the lack of updates, but i am not feeling well at all..
It's just me, a book and a hot bath. My head feels like it is about to explode.
Maybe the lunar eclipse tonight will help lessen the pressure.

President's day

Hello and happy President's day. I wonder if you get to pick and choose what presidents you want to honor today?? anyway.. I am home, not working and it is wonderful. Saturday i made a crock pot full of a wonderful jambalaya and we had a friend over for dinner. That was good. Then Sunday we went to get some breakfast and then it was back home for chores and some hanging out. I got a few more strips done for my blanket. So, it is almost done. I have about six more strips to make. We had leftover jambalaya so no cooking last night.. But then I started not feeling really wel, just more tired then i felt i should. Now i am here at home on a vacation day and i have a scratchy throat, feel warm and have NO energy at all.. :(
what a way to spend a perfectly good hookie day.
I am trying to work on some editing stuff i wanted to get done and i just don't feel well at all. I think i might go take a nap soon.
Sorry to not be that entertaining today.. just feel like crap. Hope it isn't one of the millions of flu strands that i didn't get a shot for. ugh.

Because I'm a survivor....

Was that a little obvious?? i will try harder next week.. But that's right, tonight is Survivor thursday. Rounding out the week just right after two nights of Big Brother.
I was shocked at the eviction ceremony. I really though the older woman that keeps bitching was going to go. Boy her ass got saved for reals!!! Now she has to stop bitching and start looking at the experience positively or she is next to go, (we can only hope)
So there was some major events that went down at the big brother house last night.
***SPOILER ALERT*** stop reading here if you don't want the gossip...
So i guess the dark haired gay guy was asked to go to the diary room and then (wait for it...) he didn't come back. Apparently the blonder guy was called in next and was told that he had to pick another partner from the two that were evicted just hours before. He picked the girl of the couple that was evicted and she came back.. CRAZY!!! i can't wait to hear what happened with the other guy. some are saying it was a family situation.. who knows.. maybe he didn't come out to someone and they were going to kill him??? don't know but i, personally, am glad that the girl is back. She didn't deserve to go and I think everyone knew that and wanted her to stay and her boy to go.. and in the end, that's what happened.. Now we have to wait until sunday to see what spin they are going to put on this to explain the guys untimely leaving.

So, yesterday was the best snack ever... ICE CREAM SANDWICHES
I had one, of course. Today is fruit cups.
Happy V day.. it's not a big holiday in my house.. ok it's not a holiday at all. It used to be my grandparent anniversary, so it was easy to remember to call them, But they have both passed and this will be their first anniversary together in a while. I am glad for that.

Going to see Rodrigo Y Gabriela tonight at the filmore. You should google their name and check out some tunes. They are an amazing acoustic guitar duo. They play a lot of heavy metal on acoustic guitars.. AMAZING... well, check it out, I will be.

And the WINNER is.....

The beagle!!! (funny i am eating a bagel, but i digress) This is the first win for the bread, and I think this is a great looking dog!!!

So, Big Brother was yesterday and guess what.. TONIGHT ALSO!!!! I like the new twist that they all are paired with their 'soul mates" but i feel sooo bad for the couple that was coming on the show to be a "hidden couple" playing together. But they weren't paired together. You could tell that the boyfriend of the couple was pretty upset that his girlie was going to be sleeping in some other dudes bed for three months, if they stay that long.

To be honest, I was happy to see an older woman come on the show to play, but then she immediately starting acting like a 12 year old. She got paired with a guy that she was not attracted to and started whining and pouting and talking bad about the guy with in seconds of meeting him. Doesn't show that more mature people can act that way. She is awful and I really hope that she gets voted out of the house tonight. I don't think that guy is the greatest myself, but i am sorry that he will have to get evicted with her. Too bad, try again next year.

This season the show will air on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays. So it makes the work week that much more to look forward to, we will see. If it is a lame season, then it won't be that great. but i thought last season was good, and most didn't.. so don't take my opinion as yours.

That's about it for today. Oh, Snack yesterday was frozen fruit cups. (like a frozen slushy)

The Barkers are back in town

That is if you live in Westminster.. where ever that is.. I know we have one here in Colorado and My grandparents used to live in a town called Westminster when they lived in Maryland, but something tells me neither of these places are the infamous Westminster that the Kennel Club has their annual dog show.
When i was younger and lived with my father, this was his favorite event on television. I mean he would throw large Super bowl parties and have my uncle and aunt from Pennsylvania down for Formula One races, but I don't think anything beat the Kennel Club Dog Show for my dad. We would tape it all day (in the days before tivo we actually had to use these devices called VCRs - practicing for the off spring that will know nothing before cell phone video and HD) and then that night he would make dinner and we would set our places in front of the TV in the living room on TV trays (the only time we didn't have that meal on the table in the kitchen) and watch the VCR recording of the Dog show.
He would always get excited for the working class dogs because he loved his German Shepard we have when i was growing up and for the rest of his life he wanted another Golden retriever. I guess this is where my love affair for the kennel club and large dogs originates. I have had two rottweilers, Gyoza and Watson, for about 10 and 8 years now(respectively). They have been my children and I love them like that.
Tonight I will be tuning in to the Kennel Club and thinking of my dad.. (I am sure he will be in the seat next to me telling me which one he thinks is going to take the big bone.)

On other news (but still of the TV variety) BIG BROTHER starts tonight.. I am more than excited.. I mean it really was the only reason to get out of bed this morning was to come to work to make the day go by fast to get home and watch the premier episode for the season. Apparently they have matched up the house guests as "soul mates" and they have to play the game as a pair. That would suck if you actually didn't get along with your "soul mate". Well i will fill you in tomorrow on all the happenings on CBS show. (9 EST, 6PST, and as Brian Williams says on the NBC nightly news - you people in the middle know the drill) so that means that show time is at 7pm here!!! Gotta get my butt to the gym and home again in time to watch..

So, my sister challenged me and i had to say yes. The challenge is that we both get at least 30 minutes of exercise everyday of lent (that started last week) So i have been keeping up on my 30 minutes until yesterday. I just didn't have it in me. So this morning i confessed my lent sin to my sister and she said that she didn't do her 30 minutes yesterday either. That means that i HAVE to do it today. We told each other that since we missed yesterday we are going to bump it up to 45 tonight..
So, watch out gym, here i come for my 45 minutes jaunt on the treadmill. Swimming will be for tomorrow.

Monday madness

Well It's official, i am not into mondays and I do not want to go to the gym. This past weekend was beautiful and we went for walks everyday. So nice to get out and walk around, but we were on a double mission. While walking we were also checking out houses in our area that might be for rent or sale. We are looking in both categories as to not rule something out just yet. But we are pretty sure we want to move this summer, when out lease is up. Are needs are slightly changing and we are looking for something with a basement and better insulation etc. WE are paying out of our nose for heat and we both freeze in our house, but can't afford to turn the heat up.. Bottom line, we want to move so the search is on.

Today's snack was individually wrapped bite size candies of Twix, snickers, 3 musketeers, and Milky way... I had one of each for the record. Everyone needs a chocolate pick me up on a monday.
Other than that, the sun is shining and I can't complain about that. I am ready for spring, I think mostly because i am ready for my trip to Chicago, seeing panic and enjoying my birthday weekend.

Speaking of birthdays, my mom's birthday is Wednesday!! i think she loves her birthday as much as i do. It's your day and no one can take that away from you.

Oh and Who watched the Grammys? I am so in love with Amy Winehouse and soooo glad she raked in the awards. Her music deserves the recognition. I just hope that she can get her life straight and not turn into the Britney Spears of London.

Sunday is here again.

It's sunday. Probable the best and worst day of the week. I love being able to sleep in, get chores done that didn't get done yesterday and have a nice big breakfast, but i also know that tomorrow brings the alarm clock and early morning showers. UGH!!

But I am going to make the best of it. We have temps getting into the mid to high 50s today, so I see a dog walk in my future.

But right now i am still working on my patch work blanket. I am making some progress so i will put up a picture soon of the blanket in the works.

Sunday is here again.

We're getting there...

It is almost friday, but it is the day i have been looking forward to since the new -well if you can call it that this season- winter line up came out.. SURVIVOR starts tonight.. very exciting. When i saw this month come on the calendar i got excited for Survivor and Big Brother. BB starts next week.
Today's snack was scoop your own ice cream and apple pie.
I didn't have either.
I have changed up my workouts a bit, well a lot. I have moved on to swimming.. and i can't believe how much i missed floating on a regular basis. I mean being in Colorado, we don't get the opportunity to flat like when i was living in North Carolina. I grew up on a swim team and competed every year until i was in High School and started on land sports and really never went back into the pool except to play with my nieces and nephew at my mom's house. I have discovered it is just like riding a bike, once you learn, you can't unlearn. And i have noticed from a fitness website i frequent, that swimming can burn more calories than the treadmill. no kidding..
So, this afternoon, while it is freezing outside, i am going swimming.
I hope everyone has their Tivo programmed for survivor so we can talk about it tomorrow..

Puzzle #9- this is the end

And since we've got no pace to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

Only got about two to four inches last night but it makes for getting to work to be a nightmare. I mean we live in Colorado people. If you don't have 4x4 you will slide, it will be hard to get up hills and you will cause traffic back ups and maybe even crashes. What are you thinking driving your CRX in four inches of icy snow? Just doesn't make sense to me.. So, i stayed home for a bit, just took my time getting ready and didn't rush and found that it was better a little later, but still heavy on the side roads. I just came back from a lunch time drive to see the condition out there and most of the main streets are black again.. no worries getting home tonight.
Most people will be caucusing.. (weird, didn't think that was a word, but spell check didn't underline it) I am not. I would like to, but i am not registered in this city to vote right now. I just have never gotten around to it since I moved to Denver. So i think i will get my driver's license changed soon to be sure i can vote in November. I never voted before i was 25, and now i will vote every time i can. I just think, no matter what your beliefs are you should voice them and work to make this a growing nation. I have been very embarrassed to be an American for the last 8 years and I really hope i have the opportunity to be proud.

I just thought that maybe i didn't put the last of the puzzle up here yet.. I will check on that tonight.. I am very sorry t have kept you waiting.
I have started a new project with my new sewing machine and it is going great. I have 10 strips for my patchwork blanket sew. I only have about 20+ left. I looked ahead at the weekend on the calendar and I am so excited to see NOTHING written on it. We have been going somewhere and doing something every weekend for a while and I am glad that we have one all at home. We need to do some picking up and general cleaning, but above that i want to get my blanket really underway. I am afraid that i am going to run out of pre-cut patches that i have made and then some strips will be completely different, but i guess thats what patchwork blankets are all about. I will post a picture of the strips later this week.

OK, I know i have used that one before, but seriously, can you blame me? it's a great song... But I am not only using those lyrics (to Surprise Valley by Widespread Panic) to celebrate my upcoming birthday shows that we got the last of the tickets we needed this morning. OR to use it because i am soo excited that we found this special deal on a room a the Affina Chicago Hotel. THEY HAVE A PILLOW MENU. No I am not kidding, you can pick what kind of pillow you want to sleep on. You can change it everyday if you want. I am going to start with the Buckwheat pillow and then maybe move on to the Swedish foam pillow, ending the weekend with a plush down pillow..:) I can't wait!!!!




But that is not the reason i was using this song and those lyrics. See last night my boyfriend and I were watching Celebrity Rehab on VH1. and after a commercial break, they came back to the show and the music they used was Surprise Vally by Widespread Panic. I looked at my boyfriend immediately and said "that's panic". We backed it up, turned it up and sure enough, i know my boys....
We were really enjoying watching the world series this past year (if you have been reading my blog for a while, then you may remember) not only because my team was playing but they would ALWAYS play panic going in and out of commercial breaks this past series. We even had friends that made World Series Set lists from the songs they played and at the end of what inning, too funny..

So, you never know where you are going to catch a tune to two.. keep your ears open.

I am glad it is Friday. I feel that i have to apologize for not updating everyday, but this was a complete no energy week and even less to say. so i didn't say much at all. Yesterday's snack was chocolate chip or M7M or sugar cookies. I didn't eat one and I even took Watson for a walk yesterday. getting exercise is good..

Pre-sale for Chicago Panic over my birthday weekend was this morning and i am pleased to say that we got tickets to two out of the three nights.
We will be in the venue on Friday night for my birthday for sure.. We don't have Saturday tickets just yet, but regualr on-sale is saturday though ticketbastard, so we might have some luck then. AND we got Sunday tickets as well. so we are set to try and find a cheap flight to Chicago for my birthday. I have never been to the windy city and am very much looking forward to ringing in my 35th with the best band on earth.
And my boyfriend promised that we can get pizza, well CHICAGO pizza for my birthday.
Now you want to know the BEST part of this whole thing? the show is all reserved seating. It is good in that we don't have to be sitting in line all day waiting to get in and get a good spot. we have our seats waiting for us, so we can play in the city all day and not worry about it.

some days you're the bird and some days you're the reporter

If you know me then you know that i enjoy animals pooping.. i know i am strange, but the best trip to the zoo is the one where you can see the monkeys, camels or polar bears pooping. This would not count. I would not want this to happen to me.

Well Widespread Panic announced their spring tour. As always i checked it out and was REALLY excited when i saw the the band will actually be playing on my birthday. I have waited my whole life to see a show on my birthday and here my favorite band is actually going to be picking up their instruments on that day.
My boyfriends birthday is on Halloween, so we are always seeing shows of his favorite bands on that day. I mean everyone and their brother are playing that day, so it just depends on how far you are willing to travel for the show. In years past we have gone to New Orleans, San Francisco, Virginia (well Hampton Colosseum) and i am sure many more that i am not remembering. Not to mention the number of years we have spent at the Filmore here in Denver for a show on his birthday. So, this is my year. My birthday is actually going to be on a Friday AND PANIC is playing in the continental United States.
We talked about it last night, and again this morning and i think i really want to go to Chicago. So, we are going to try to work it out.. I can't believe it and am so excited. Tickets (well pre-sale) go on sale tomorrow AM. I hope we get tickets.
I can't really think of a better way to turn 35 than with JB singing to me all night, and then again the next night and then again the next night...

More work has been done on the puzzle and it will be finished up tonight. that is a guarantee.
I am almost done... it looks really cool. I will put some close up shots up here to show you how hard it really is.

I am also starting a patch work quilt with my new sewing machine. I plugged it in last night, got the bobbin put in, threaded, then messed it up.... start over.. got it back in, threaded, messed up...started over.. --- please stop me if you've heard this one. If you have not then you have never tried to teach yourself how to sew. After frustrating my boyfriend, i took a few deep breathes and tried again. finally i got it going. and was able to move from page one to page two of in instruction booklet. look at me go.. Now i know how to 'end my seams' or what ever it is called and i am able to sew two patched together without them ripping apart right away.. VERY EXCITING..
So, my quilt that has been on hold for about four years is back on the forefront. I have some really cool ideas that i want to try when i get the hang of this project.
I can't wait to go home and sew while watching Wheel of Fortune.. (yeah, i am so an 80 year old in a 34.8 year old body :)

Puzzle Progress

Sorry that i took a little time away but i know you have been DYING to see the progress on homer and the grill.
I have learned a bit about taping yourself doing a very hard puzzle and FINALLY got the hang of it, thanks to the little black devise you see see by my hands. The remote, but i didn't fully get the power until about 3/4 of a the way through. Believe me it gets better. the next installment will be the best. And then my boyfriend and i have a few cool video ideas we are going to try when it is completed. so look forward to that.

Let my people go....

OK, I am not a crazed American Idol fan at all. Not anythiing like my Grandfather's neighbor who runs three to four different telephones to call in and vote for her favorite singer. (she is an adult, yes.. I know, I know... ) anyway, But i do indulge in the first few episodes to watch typical tone deaf attention seeking Americans line up for days to get the chance to act the fool in front of a camera. I have no idea what most are thinking. I mean those are entire stadiums full of bad singers for NO REASON. Why don't they save the time and go down to Radio Shake and buy a video camera and make youtube their outlet, but no, I guess there is something these people thrive on to make fools of themselves on National television for 35 seconds. They don't even get the full 15 minutes. Although William Hung took all their 15 minutes for himself. Glad that timer is up.
Anyway... This was my favorite fool last night. We actually had to pause the television because we were laughing over the singing and couldn't hear it.
The clip below is the entire segment with this guy, but you can skip to about 45 seconds in and he starts, well.... um... trying.. i will leave it at that. I think what gets me the most is the tongue positioning for the "L" sounds.. so funny.. and the way her pronounces the word 'GO'... oh my god, I am crying just watching it again.
I would love to have a chat with the people this guy works with and get them all hearing aids.




Little stock show update... we took the night off yesterday and will be back tonight for the dog agility competition. I will post the PBR (professional Bull Riding) chute out soon. Just didn't get anytime last night.

I'm on a mexican radio.... (er.. rodeo)

Hey all,
So, The other night i told you we were going to the Mexican Rodeo Extravaganza. I have never heard so much mariachi band music. But it was fun. So I will give you a break from puzzles and share some of the highlights from the Mexican Rodeo Extravaganza. The first set of events was the bareback riding. I guess they have different rules than the US bareback in that they are allowed to use two hands. It makes they look really funny bouncing on the horses back, but it is pure Mexican Rodeo. The first guy holds on the longest and eventually wins, but they are all fun rides. Then it will go straight into the mutton busting competition. Basically, as the announcer explained, it is sticking your kid on a wide animal and calling it entertainment. God i can't wait to have kids. :) But it is cute... then it goes right into the Bull riding. I will have the Chute-off footage on later this evening, (after work and the gym, then i need to do some editing, so maybe not until tomorrow, but i will try) anyway... enjoy the highlights of the Mexican Rodeo Extravaganza.

Mondays come with that feeling on longing for the weekend back and wonder of what the days ahead will hold. Kind of a strange mix of missing the past and optimistic for the future. For me, i just would rather stay in bed.
Well we went to the stock show as i blogged about this weekend. It was great. I had never been to this kind of an event before in my whole life. Last night we saw the Mexican Rodeo Extravaganza. Video clips will be up soon. Tonight we are going back to see something called a 'chute-out". Don't ask, because I will have no idea until tonight when the start the event and I can figure out what is going on.
I will update the puzzle footage when i get home from work.

Anyway, i was working on the puzzle today and thought i would share a some new progress with you for this fine Saturday. The weather lady says the temperatures are going to stay near 40's all weekend. Might get rid of some of the snow piles before may. How exciting.

A wish a very happy friday to everyone.. Since i lost a day this week, I am very glad that we have come to the end. Time to not get up early and not have to be out of bed at a certain time tomorrow am. I am very glad for that.
Well i worked on my puzzle some more last night and i must say it is coming along. I will be updating my youtube page as well as this blog with new video this weekend.
Tonight we get to go to the Media event for the Western Stock Show here in Denver. I am really excited to hug a sheep. If they don't have a petting area tonight, I think i will be a little upset, but i know that i have Saturday also to hug a sheep also.

Sorry about no posting yesterday, I don't know what i was thinking. I thought it was Tuesday all day and that i had written that yesterday. I seriously had to ask a co-worker this morning what day it was and completely surprised to hear that it was Thursday.. What is that about??? I totally lost a day and can't find it. I know that i didn't sleep through it and I know i lived it, but have can't believe it is really Thursday. Is that weird? OK, wait, don't answer that.
So, i changed my comments settings and now anyone that wants to comment can. No log in, no email addresses, just comment away. I know that i am probably opening a can of worms, but to be honest I have not had a can of worms in such a long time, that i thought it was time to get into that can again. So, comment all you want. I will read them all..

But it came out today, which is great. After yesterdays wintery mix of weather, it was nice to see the sun. Not that we don't see it a bunch out here in Colorado, you miss it when it is not around for a day.

Hopefully most of the inch of snow that fell last night will melt away today. No reason to stick around. but it appears more is on it's way. Such is life at 5200 feet.

I do hope that you are enjoying my puzzle. It is hard and taking me a while, but i am not in a race to get it done, so slowly and surly i will get it put together.. just keep checking back.

Starting this week is a HUGE event starting here in Denver for this year. Every year there is the Stock show. And it goes on for weeks. From the news they were saying that some of the horse events were starting because there were so many. So, this weekend we have an invitation for the media event friday night. The invitation has a cute little sheep on it, so now i am in the mood to hug some sheep. I hope i will get a chance on Friday. Don't worry, I will be taking my camera and getting some great (I hope) shots of the stock show to share. I am really excited. Every year i see it advertised, Well you'd have to be dead to not see the ads everywhere from billboards to tv ads to flyers; and i have always wanted to check it out. From what my boyfriend told me, we get to go to the media event and then to the stock show itself on Saturday.. I think they are doing mutton busting on Saturday.. and you bet, when a little barefoot comes along, they will be in the Mutton Busting competition. IF you don't know what it is, stay tuned for this weekends. I hope to have some video.

Today's snack was scoop your own ice cream and apple pie. To be honest i didn't want either, so i didn't take any.

It will be snowing to night in Denver. Not that much is expected though. And since my car rocks, no snow days for me. That's ok. I just had a major break for the last few weeks that it is good to get back on a schedule and stuff. We got the tree taken down and have unplugged the Christmas lights on the porch. I don't have the heart to take them down yet, sometimes they look so pretty when it is snowing and stuff... But the season is over and the sun is sticking around a minute longer each night.
So, To get my lazy butt back to the gym, i am making a new challenge to myself. I am going to not work with such an incline on the treadmill, but just see how far I can walk. My goal is to walk the distance to Coast Rica. I mean who wouldn't want to be always in route to Costa Rica? Well i will start tonight. Maybe i will let you know how far i got by the distance out of denver I can make. I was going to start the mileage from my house and see where i can go...

I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else gets me frustrated

I have had it with trying to put up video.
I have tried for three days to get it to upload, but i am thinking that i have too large a file. So, this afternoon I will try to save it again in a smaller format and see what happens.
Sorry, I am sure you all are waiting for it, and i just can not deliver right now. But i was thinking the other day that the day i put up my first puzzle video i had 15 people watch it. Now, i am not sure who has a sadder life, me taping myself putting a puzzle together, or you for watching me put a puzzle together. Either way, I am glad you watched and enjoyed. Well at least watched.
I am very sorry to keep you all waiting though, and it is coming along. I am getting behind in posting and ahead is puzzling.

Well, that's about it. Today i am watching the stuffed monkey that runs the country giving his State of the Onion (yeah, that was on purpose) from last year. Riviting television. :)

A puzzeling adventure

It is completely snowing again here. After a total white Christmas (it snowed from sun up till about 10pm) we are starting to get the hang of shoveling and driving in the white stuff.
For a Christmas gift I got this Simpson's mosaic type puzzle. Each piece has about three to six different pictures on it but it comes with a "poster" map of it, so it makes it a little bit easier. This will take me a while to complete and so I thought it would be fun if i video taped it and then speed it up. Yeah, my life is just about that exciting.
But anyway, here is my boarder.


Hope you enjoyed that. I continued to work on it last night, but changed the framing so there is less of me and more of the puzzle.

It's the right time to rock the night away.

Well it wont be the first time that i was wrong about getting snow in Denver. It started about 2:00 yesterday afternoon and ended a little after 5. The highs are not supposed to break 30 today. And it looks like we might get some flurries on Christmas.
Since it is so cold, i thought i would share a few more photos of Jamaica.

Why oh why??

OK, tell me this. Why do people say "hey, let's not get each other gifts this year and do something special after the holidays" when they know darn well they are going to get a gift for that person anyway??
Last night my boyfriend and I were watching TV and i saw a commercial for something and said, that is neat. And that started the conversation about Christmas gifts. I said, I feel weird not giving each other a gift this year and he told me that he had some things to give me. When i asked him why he said not to give gifts and then goes and gets a gift he just said, well i couldn't not get it for you.
So now i am looking for a gift for him. We we're going to do this. If we were. i would have prepared as i have done every other year, but this one we said we weren't going to. UGH, men!!!!
I tell you. But if that is my biggest problem right now, i think i am doing ok.

The weather is turning here but i don't think we are going to get any snow in Denver proper. The mountains are getting hammered, but we really need it. So, i say bring it on.
I am very much looking forward to this weekend. I will be cleaning up all the crap we just dumped on the floor when we got back from Jamaica and have since been stepping over it this whole week. It is time to straighten up again. We are going out Saturday night, i think, but not tonight. I have to catch up on my TV shows.
Speaking of TV shows did you all see that Big Brother is coming to the winter line up on CBS. I can't even tell you how excited it am about that. This is one of my favorite shows and thought it stunk that it only was on in the summer. But now we get to watch more crazy people all winter too. SWEET!!!
I have completely stopped watching what i am eating now that i have a few months again to make sure i am in bikini shape by next summer. This morning my co-worker told me that he brought in some treats that his wife had made. I scooped up two peanut butter cookies with the Hershey's kiss on top and a real turtle. Well not "real" turtle, but the kind with no cookie, but only caramel and chocolate. YUM. I also got a bag of Ghirardelli chocolate squares from another co-worker. So, i am not going to deprive myself. Why should I. I will rejoin the masses at the gym come the first of the year. But i think i am going to go and just sit i the hot tub this weekend. Again, why not. I deserve it. I mean i type my little fingers to the bone all day (ok, sometimes all day- OK, sometimes a little a day) but i digress. I think a nice dip for me is in order. There's nothing like a dip in th community hot tub with sweaty old men. :)

Making a list and checking it twice.

I have finished my Christmas shopping for my family back and east and sent the package on. I hope everyone likes what i got them. It was fun to pick gifts for people. My boyfriend and I went shopping a few days ago, when we got back from Jamaica. I really like Christmas shopping when it is low volume, and we went at a very low volume time. We were at the mall about an hour before it closes and headed over to Toys R us about 10:30. I was surprised to see that there were families in TRU at that time. But i got everything i needed and the box was packed up last night.
So, before i got the chance to start wrapping, my boyfriend asked it i wanted to ride with him to see some house Christmas lights so he can take some pictures for the paper that will be printed today. I said sure. There was a light competition in the town he covers so we wanted to see the winners. To be honest, there were some that i was disappointed in. But when we got to the last few houses on the winner tour, they got better. I can't believe some of the work people put into this season and holiday. Some people are crazy. And i can only assume they can afford the electricity bill.
So, when we got home, i wrapped everything and hit the sack. I am still really tired from the trip and am very much looking forward to one day this week that we don't have to go anywhere as well as a great weekend of doing a whole bunch of nothing.. HECK YEAH!!

Back to life, back to reality... Back to the here and now again...

Ok, well that was one quick trip to the Caribbean and back. But it was a great trip. So, we got there a little late due to mechanical problems on a plane coming to Miami from Costa Rica. So, we had missed the first two sets by Disco Biscuits by the time we got there. But we got there, and checked into our room at the Breezes. it was a nice room. Two queen beds and a nice bathroom. When we checked in we went into the Disco before we hit the room to grab a drink. We started with Whiskey. So, after quickly changing clothes and heading back to the disco to grab a few more drinks and then grab the shuttle over the Hidonism, where all the shows were and the large stage set up. We quickly found some friends and got oriented to the layout of that resort. We stayed there with Umphree's McGee until about 4am, when the show ended.
We didn't want to miss one valuable minute in Jamaica, so we set the alarm for about three hours later, and jumped out of bed when the alarm went off. We got on our bathing suits, and hit the beach. After grabbing a few more drinks(absolute and Pineapple) and some towels we got two beach chairs and proceeded to enjoy some sun time. We did some swimming, some eating and some drinking. then went back to the room for a little two hour power nap before dinner. The people at the resort seems really pleased with the group and they were having fun as well. The local drug dealers were funny. They would swim up to you because there was some "security" to keep them off the beach. They would ask in their accents. "You need some green, mon?", You want some coke, ecstacy, mon". funny, we just say no and they go away. We heard some some folks that saw a deal go down said that the guy would swim up with a snorkel and they swim away, then come back and give you what ever you wanted in a triple baggie system to keep things dry. Too funny... But i guess everyone needs to make a living.
Anyway, that night we had dinner at Hido and it wasn't very good. On top of the not so great food, there was the Resort's entertainment and OH MY GOD, for one they were TOO LOUD, especially for dinner. We had dinner with a friend from Oregon and could barely hear her while she was sitting less than two feet from me. We stuck around that resort for the two sets f each band. That night i think we got to bed about 4:30. We got up to the sound of the breakfast cart we ordered being delivered about 8:00. We wanted to grab a bite and head out to Ocho Rios for some shopping. We split a cab with some guys from Upstate NY to Dunn's River Falls and a few shopping places. My boyfriend and I wanted to go to a local market, but the cabbie didn't fully understand and kept taking us to tourists places. But we got what we needed and saw the falls. We took a bunch of pics there. We didn't climb it, but it looked fun.
We came back, threw on our swimming suits again and went to the autograph session with the bands that were playing. With my boyfriend being a photographer for live bands, we have tons of good pics of these particular bands from over the years. We took some really great ones and had all the boys sign them, then hit the pool for a drink and some sun before showering and changing for dinner. This time we made reservations at the hibachi Asian restaurant at our resort. It was a great dinner and our chef was funny and entertaining. We had sake bombs with him. Fun all around. Then we went back to the room, got some stuff together and headed back over to Hedo for the show. Saturday night was just Disco Biscuits and then a smaller band played the 2am to 5am set. We left about 4 again. Great night of music, the bands were on...
Sunday we arose to the sinking feeling that we were having the leave after the shows that night. So we quickly donned out bathing suits once again. We went to all the pools and had drinks, took pictures and signed up for a snorkeling excursion that afternoon. (another reason to get lasik). We got some sun that day, and my boyfriend still has a lobster chest. We ate Jerk chicken from the grill and consumed our weight in mango and Bob Marley daiquiris. (red, yellow and green-of course). After the day's activities, we changed really quickly and jetted over to Hedo to try and take some pictures in the day light. Only had time to take a few and we headed back over to Breezes for dinner, as the food was much better over there. After dinner we packed our bags, got most stuff together for our early morning departure and went back to hedo for the shows. Umphrees and The Eggman. Both two-set shows were great. The bands were having a blast and so were all us freaks. After the shows we headed back to Breezes, picked up our gear and headed to the shuttle to the airport.
So, of course we get there at 6 for an 8am departure. We stand in line only to hear that the flight is cancled and we are now spending the day in the Montego bay airport. We could have slept, eaten, spent the day around the pool, but NO..... after we got YELLED AT by the customer service rep for not putting our selves in her shoes, she makes other arraignments for us to fly out at 4:30 on a delta flight. I can tell you that not even 5 minutes after my boyfriend gets our new tickets in hand, they cancel the original flight (the 4:30, 5:55 flight) completely. They were giving hotel vouchers to people to have to stay the night. We were never so glad to get home. Not that we wouldn't have taken another day in Montego Bay or Jamaica in general, but not two days at the airport. No thanks..
But all in all it was good, too fast and well needed. Although since we got NO Sleep, we are still draggin ass, but i am not complaining about that.

Ok It's a bit of an obvious choice for song lyric title, but hey i never said i was original or liked to work hard.
But that's about right. It is 12:40 here at work and my head is already on the airplane to Montego bay.

Well here's the culmination of the day. I went to the grocery store to get some soup for lunch. It is a high of 24 degrees and today is a soup day. So, i take the time to find some healthy soup with all the right stuff and non of the bad. It took me about 15 minutes to decide on one. I go through the check out, get back to work and as i am picking up the can from the passenger seat i realize that I don't have a can opener. Nothing!!! So, here i sit, with no lunch and a spent lunch break.. I hope there is something really good for sack today.

It's been a hard day's night.

Hey all, so we are leaving in two, yeah count them, two days!!!! this is awesome. We are both super excited but my boyfriend's work is so crazy that he had not had the time I have had to get really excited. Each day when i am on the treadmill i am thinking about walking in the sand in Jamaica. I hope that we have some good weather. The ten day out look for that area looks like it should be ok. Today and tomorrow i think they are getting the end of the hurricane, (yeah, i know, this is strange) to pass by and then going to be beautiful for our stay. I know it will be great.
They are having an autograph signing so my boy friend, being the photog that he is, has years of pictures of both these bands through the years. So he was pulling out some to print and get signed when we are there. Right now we have a bunch that we got signed on Jam Cruise a few years ago hanging in our hallway leading to the bed rooms. We have karl Denson, Keller Williams (who will also be in Jamaica), Micheal Franti from Spearhead. Les Claypool, I think there is a kyle from SCI. Geeze, i walk by these photos each day and i can't even tell you what they are. That is sad. But either way we will be returning with more to frame and hang.
Tonight i am trying to talk myself into going to the gym and not staying in the warm house and packing all my stuff. Last night i put that chore off thinking it was going to snow all day and I wouldn't be able to get around tonight. But it has stopped snowing. the sun is out, so most of the road should be clear and i shouldnt have much of an issue getting to the gym. UGH.. DAMN.
When i get back from Jamaica, i will cut back on how much i go, but for right now, i think i should keep going and that means going tonight.. UGH.. But it will all be worth it in two days when i am on the beach in my bathing suit... OK, just typing that motivated me to go to the gym. gotta go.. not skipping today.
So, snack time was string cheese and salted peanuts.
I passed on the cheese, taking the peanuts home to my boyfriend, came back to my desk and had a half of an apple (Jamaica in 2 days).

Completely speechless

OK, so i have nothing to say but three days and i will be in the sun. It is supposed to snow more tonight into tomorrow morning. We got, maybe 4-6 inches saturday and they are calling for about that same amount to fall tomorrow.
Three days...
It better not snow on thursday but they are already calling for some. Just hope it doesn't delay the planes or cancel them all together. We will get to Jamaica one way or another.
Almost time to leave work and hit the gym. Then this evening i am going to put my clothes in my backpack and make sure everything fits in it. You don't need a lot of space for a bathing suit, do you?
Snack time was Gardetto's snack mix. That will go home with me for a snack on the trip.

Well, the weather outside is frightful.

I think winter has started for us. According to the weather people the mountains are getting between 1 and 3 feet before the end of the weekend. Every time i hear that i am SOOO glad that i am not living up top (colorado lingo for 'in them hills') any longer and am down below (colorado lingo for flat lands). Not bad. I think we are going to get some rain, but i doubt we will see much snow yet.

This weekend we have a little bit of things to do. We have to finish decorating the christmas tree. Then we need to pull out the summer clothes and get them in the washer and dryer and then packed safely in the backpacks for next week. All the sun spray (we are from Colorado after all) and things like that. I pulled out my passport last week and set it on my desk with my iPod cables. Both very important for this trip.
We are going to a christmas tree lighting tonight and then to a tuba christmas presentation. Over 130 tubas playing christmas carols. I can't miss that. I might even share my video if it is good.
But that's about it. I am ready to start the weekend.
Snack time was individual snack bags of Chex Mix.. Holiday cheer... :)

So, if there were a lynch team at work, i would have gotten the noose today.
Last night we had a great dinner, It was so good that i brought left overs to work for lunch. Well i stunk up the whole office. I had no idea that a fish lunch would cause such a raucous, but i guess i should have known. :) hehehe. So, i work all the time with headphones on. Even if i am not working on a tape, like now, i am updating my blog, i have my headphones on. So, after i heated up my lunch and brought it back to my seat, i can start hearing people saying things, "Whoa, what's that smell" " Holy cow, what is that??" etc. I just smiled with my fork in my hand and listened. But when they said that it could be smelt all the way to the front of the building, i put it away. I am not sure if anyone knew it was me, but needless to say, I am still hungry because i didn't get to finish my stinky lunch. :(
Snack time was Ritz cheese and crackers. Bringing some home to my boyfriend.
7 days until I am on a jet plane.
That's all for today. It rained all morning , it was sunny all afternoon and is supposed to snow tonight or tomorrow.. Typical Denver weather. It will be nice to see some snow before heading down to Jamaica, but i don't need to see it the day we fly out. I will be happy if it comes this weekend and is gone by monday, Thursday at the latest.
